Friday Night Mixer...

This will be a quick post today as I'll be off and running early today. Lots to do before this evening's celebration. I'm going to the bakery to pick up our sheet cake and cupcakes, and then heading to the venue to help the committee with set up for tonight.

Last night's mixer was a huge success! We had over 100 people there. Everyone engaging with old school chums, and reminiscing. It was wonderful, and many stayed until after 10 pm. Handsome and I left around 9:30. I'd been greeting each classmate and was starting to get a scratchy throat from all the conversation, so it was time to go home to a hot cuppa tea with honey, and then off to bed.

There were a group of us from the old neighborhood and grade school, so we got one of our mates to take a picture of all of us together. Some traveled great distances to be here. l-r: Dennis from CA, Dave from TN, me, my BFF Cyd from GA, Dick from Fond du Lac, Dan from Fond du Lac, and Chip from MN.

More of "Old Home Week" on Monday. I'll see about getting more photographs to share with you. I really didn't have time to take any myself, so I'll see what we can come up with from the group. Gotta run!

  2. Glad that so many came and that you're having fun with old chums. High school isn't something I would ever want to repeat and reunions hold no interest for either me or Resident Chef. There's only one or two people from back then that I would bother keeping in touch with, and I do. You will gather that high school was something to be endured and not enjoyed.

    1. Hi MA:
I'm so sorry that your high school experience was forgettable. Our class (admittedly biased) was the best to ever come out of our building. Our classmates have all be successful, contributing, and fun. We had a class of nearly 750 students. over 100 have passed, but we had nearly 200 classmates and another 100+ in attendance last night. The current hs Pep Band performed, three classmates reprised a high school talent show act, and we had the perfect atmosphere for all to visit. It was truly a celebration worthy of our class. All our committee has been getting all day on Facebook is compliments. I'm very proud of all the stellar work they did. We likely won't have another.

  3. LOL! I ditto the comment from Magpie's Mumblings above! I also "endured" High School. Only one or two folks I endeavor to remain in contact with. I'm actually getting together with a dear friend I've known since 6th grade next week. We see each other about once a year, picking up right where we left off, oohing and ahhing over grandchildren pics, and always laughing until "tears run down our legs"! (-; Some people are just kindred spirits and so worth the extra effort to keep up with. ❤ Enjoy your time being a teenager again...if only in your mind! (-:

    1. Hi Lois:
Likewise, I'm sorry your experience was unrewarding. We all had a ball, from over 100 people at the Friday mixer, to over 350 at the reunion. All the cliques were gone and we all embraced at one time or another. I'm proud to have been a member of this great class. There were many of us reliving our hs days, but now with a little less spring in our steps.

  4. Great pic and a wonderful turnout.
I'm with Magpie also. Too many trying to impress and keeping up with the Jones.
I'm so very glad that it was so different for you.
    I've enjoyed your adventure.

    1. Hi Shirley:
"Keeping up with the Jones" couldn't have been further from the truth with our group. All the cliques had melted away years ago, and we were all genuinely glad to be able to spend the time together. People who didn't attend but saw our online pictures are saying they're sorry they missed it. My committee has had nothing but compliments all day, and they deserve every one. They went above and beyond to make it worthy of our class. Likely our last, too.

    1. Hi Sherry:
Indeed it does. I went home with Handsome at 9:30, but folks said they left people there at 10:30. Once friend said she and her chum were there until well after midnight! Party animals. lol
