A Little More Watercolor Play...

Saturday, I joined another watercolor class my sister was teaching, and I really had fun. I have no intention of jumping in to a new hobby. I'll never finish all the sewing, needlework, quilting projects I have now, but she asked me to be her first student for a paying course, and I'm glad I took her up on the invitation.

I think she was afraid no one else would sign up as she's kind of new to the teaching thing, but she need not have worried, as she had a quite nice size class. She's a really good teacher, too! This was my finished product.

Are there things I'd change? Sure! But now that I know how to do this, I can keep this as my first effort and create a second. I can play with paint when my hands are sore because handling brushes is easier than holding a needle. The temperature outside is jumping around again, and I can always feel the shift in my hands. This will be a good creative outlet when I can't stitch.

I'm working on homekeeping projects today so the house will be ship-shape when Handsome rolls in this week. Tag will be with you tomorrow, and I'll be back on Wednesday to share my latest activity.

Happy May Day!

    1. Hi Marilyn:
I sure am! I'm looking forward to having him back here where he belongs. It's been a long winter for sure. (We got snow again yesterday! grrrr) Thanks for your kind words. I hope you have a great week!

    1. Hi Sherry:
Thanks, girlfriend! I love how yours turned out, too! It was a fun class. Jan's a fun teacher, and my buttons almost bust, listening to and watching my little sister's classes. Our educator dad would be proud of her, too. This project actually made me think about him during the whole process. (sniffle) I hope you have a great week, dear.

    1. Hi Andrea!
You're so kind. I think it speaks to what a great teacher my sister is. Our dad painted a lot in his twenties. I wish he'd painted in later life. I would have enjoyed seeing how his perspective might have changed. I'm a busy bee for sure, getting ready for my dear heart to get home. Wednesday is going to be baking day! I should be caught up with everything else by then.
      Thanks for stopping by, hon.

  4. I think you're on the right track with your hands - sometimes changing up what you're doing rests certain muscles and involves others. Well done on the painting; you're much braver than I on that front.

    1. Hi MA:
It seems to help, I think. Just when I'm sure it's all better, I get another red-hot pain in my joint. ugh This too shall pass...and if it doesn't, I'll find new ways to cope. Our ancestors sure weren't wimps. I'm sure I'll figure it out, too. Thanks for the kind comment on my watercolor. I'm not planning to turn into a painter, but it's a nice diversion. I bought a watercolor pad that I'm using for all my projects, and will keep them bound together. It might be a fun way to look back on this phase. Have a great week, dear.

  5. Beautiful painting, the colors are wonderful. For many years I painted with oils and acrylics then moved on to stitching and quilting. Enjoy the week.

    1. Hi Shirley:
I bet your paintings are wonderful! Thank you for your kind words, my friend. Our younger daughter-in-law is a trained/educated artist, and her works are so wonderful. We own many, and I so enjoy seeing how her art has evolved over the years. I look at this as a happy diversion from needlework, but am itching to get back to it. I'm hoping to take my heart needlework with me for the next Sewcial Sisters. I'll lay off the needle and threads until then.
Have a great week, my dear.

    1. Hi Debbie:
Thanks so much! I enjoy the time that Jan and I can spend together playing with her chosen media. She used to work for me in my needlework shop, and she still stitches from time to time, but it's obvious that this is her first love. She's really good at it, too. I hope your week is a great one, hon.

    1. Hi, Lois:
Thanks, dear! I'm going to do another now that I have the technique down. I was kind of rushed with this one (I was ready ahead of time to join her class, and then couldn't find the live video link. I got a little frantic. Once I sent a text to let Jan know that, she stopped the class and got me in. Then I had to catch up.) I'll take my time with the next one.
      Big hugs!
