July Craft Day...

Adrienne's 

Saturday was busy, but fun. The ladies decided we'd paint this month. Adrienne found a painting tutorial on YouTube, so we we set up to followed along on her television as we painted.

Kim's

I sat next to Kim, and Marie and Adrienne sat across the table. (Arie sat at another table with George, who painted his own project. He's such a rebel!) 

We all felt apprehensive during the process, so there was a lot of stopping and starting of the video...and more than a little sighing or nervous giggling.

Aria's

But in the end we were all content with our finished watercolor Aurora borealis" paintings..

Marie's

Once we lined them up, we all said what we liked about each other's work. Some of us (😑🤚) decided painting is not our forté, but we had fun nevertheless.

Mine

Linda didn't make it to craft day, but I went to her house after, and we had a great visit until it was time for us to go to her son and new daughter-in-law's wedding reception.

They were married last month out of state, so this was an informal party to celebrate. It was nice to see everyone I hadn't seen in a while, and to congratulate the happy couple.

Sunday was a true day of rest. I have PT this morning, and then I'll get pack to my butterfly. Happy Monday!

Making Art…

 

I’m at my youngest sister, Jan’s as I write my post. I’ve been here since Wednesday after leaving Larsen and the Sewcial Sisters. 

I’m leaving later this morning to go back home, but I wanted you to see what I created when we played in her studio yesterday. 

The prompt for this project was to paint bubbles. I decided to (try to) make mine look like they were in water. I called this one “Seafoam”.

Jan’s prompt for my second piece was “Invisible Friend”. She came up with this fun faerie idea looking into a secret world. This was my version. I named my piece “Nebula”. (Yes. I’m a Guardians of the Galaxy fan.)  

We’ve had a great time together, and we’re already planning to do this again soon. I enjoyed my wee vacation, but I’m looking forward to being back home. Time to drive. See you tomorrow. 

A Little More Watercolor Play...

Saturday, I joined another watercolor class my sister was teaching, and I really had fun. I have no intention of jumping in to a new hobby. I'll never finish all the sewing, needlework, quilting projects I have now, but she asked me to be her first student for a paying course, and I'm glad I took her up on the invitation.

I think she was afraid no one else would sign up as she's kind of new to the teaching thing, but she need not have worried, as she had a quite nice size class. She's a really good teacher, too! This was my finished product.

Are there things I'd change? Sure! But now that I know how to do this, I can keep this as my first effort and create a second. I can play with paint when my hands are sore because handling brushes is easier than holding a needle. The temperature outside is jumping around again, and I can always feel the shift in my hands. This will be a good creative outlet when I can't stitch.

I'm working on homekeeping projects today so the house will be ship-shape when Handsome rolls in this week. Tag will be with you tomorrow, and I'll be back on Wednesday to share my latest activity.

Completed Sacred Heart...

 

I finished the Sacred Heart Brooch and it now sits on a special pincushion next to my first Immaculate Heart. I'm working out the details for the lilies for the Most Chaste Heart, but in the meantime, I'll set up another of each of these two to make available in my shop for purchase. 

It was a long day yesterday, but I think we narrowed down that it's not a neurological issue with Bella, which is a good thing. I think there's still a CT scan in her future, along with a possible change in medication, but we're narrowing down the issue. I'm waiting for a call back from the clinic, but I think her next appointment will be back in Madison on May 10th - after Handsome and Carly are back home. (yay!)

My sister, Jan offered a watercolor class in her Facebook group last night, so I pulled out a set of watercolors I bought for using with needlework and just played along. I've never attempted painting an actual scene or anything, but I had fun with it. This is what I created. I have to say it was a peaceful way to end my day.

Handsome will be returning soon, so I'll probably be working upstairs again today. I really want to get this organizing and purging finished by the time he gets home, but I also want it done so I can get outside while this weather is so perfect! Time to get after it! Right after my morning cuppa...
