I placed everything into a large dutch oven and let it cook all afternoon. </p><p style="text-align: left;">The bread was easier than most varieties I bake. This took about fifteen minutes to mix and forty five to bake. No rise time at all. Irish Soda bread is tasty, but not as flavorful as some of the others either, but it was a perfect side for the rest of our meal. I later had a small piece, toasted, with peanut butter. Yum!<br /></p><p style="text-align: left;">So, today the plan is to sit down to my needlework frame and get in some needle dancing to start the mockingbird. Our second - and last - session is next Saturday, so I want to get up to speed for that class. I'll share what I accomplish today when I see you again tomorrow.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/s115/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="37" data-original-width="115" height="64" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/w200-h64/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" width="200" /></a></div></div></div></div><p style="text-align: left;"></p>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5258439638299238385.post-15481969508636648272024-03-17T00:24:00.002-05:002024-03-17T00:24:27.849-05:00Sunday Scripture...<p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTXvt9XngOHd6IfT2xMVH7GoftnXpdTDYP-dksX8vxRD54Rde4ibP74CaUyMC4GJri8cU1aXyrVakj-qGnN5v049KKfATfDV-NRyeiPb0mAUTJgE37q4lN9ARtTQ7glWNAmvxa_g6H1WVPOJP2AJnORHdqBlC9ZlwaPKVSTkKuyI5MPOZbCEvxpvrioKH3/s1605/Psalms%2027.%207.8.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1605" data-original-width="1284" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTXvt9XngOHd6IfT2xMVH7GoftnXpdTDYP-dksX8vxRD54Rde4ibP74CaUyMC4GJri8cU1aXyrVakj-qGnN5v049KKfATfDV-NRyeiPb0mAUTJgE37q4lN9ARtTQ7glWNAmvxa_g6H1WVPOJP2AJnORHdqBlC9ZlwaPKVSTkKuyI5MPOZbCEvxpvrioKH3/w512-h640/Psalms%2027.%207.8.JPG" width="512" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Psalms 27:7-8<br /></td></tr></tbody></table> <br /></p>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5258439638299238385.post-90867629182608671322024-03-16T00:00:00.008-05:002024-03-17T10:28:42.775-05:00Class Day...<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg733L4vIaTWqNmykkWCqYhOaLJRKza4Zsj1UexpC5efW4a7YMio4UzPsuzNRGKqtg7TwHCEj2ltE1_HNwcE3pvIadGtJrDrsf8KbBxV2v91gX8BjiH15mWEpH3BL2VNNwu1zlG1SUcdq28P3zSIwwAoKKZKmvVV0ZV2MdKIF3PsSmAIcg114jcPWX75HLo/s1460/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Clara's%20Mockingbird%20WIP.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1460" data-original-width="1073" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg733L4vIaTWqNmykkWCqYhOaLJRKza4Zsj1UexpC5efW4a7YMio4UzPsuzNRGKqtg7TwHCEj2ltE1_HNwcE3pvIadGtJrDrsf8KbBxV2v91gX8BjiH15mWEpH3BL2VNNwu1zlG1SUcdq28P3zSIwwAoKKZKmvVV0ZV2MdKIF3PsSmAIcg114jcPWX75HLo/w470-h640/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Clara's%20Mockingbird%20WIP.jpg" width="470" /></a></div><p></p><p>Today, I begin my morning with a Facebook live class that I'm teaching. At 10:30, I'll share the techniques for dyeing the plastic eggs we did last weekend. I'm looking forward to showing others how simple and fun this technique is.</p><p>This afternoon, I'm taking a new class with Clara of Clara Stitching. This class is the Northern Mockingbird Brooch. I pulled this image off her website so I could show you what we're learning. You know me...rather than complete it as a brooch, I'm going to finish this one the same way we did the Blue Tit - as a hanging ornament. That way, I can display it next to the other bird in my studio. </p><p>You can see from Clara's drawing that this bird is waiting for its legs and feet, and then it will be beautifully finished.</p><p>I'm planning to just take notes today, but will begin the work on it soon. I have a few other important pieces in line ahead of it, and this will be a two-session course. The second session is next weekend, so I'll try to get something done before then.</p><p>It's going to be a busy day, and I still have final setup to get done before the class I'm teaching begins, so I'd better head to the studio. I hope you have something fun planned for this weekend! We can compare notes on Monday. Happy Weekend!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/s115/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="37" data-original-width="115" height="64" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/w200-h64/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" width="200" /></a></div></div></div></div><p></p>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5258439638299238385.post-43784846877717223072024-03-15T00:00:00.001-05:002024-03-15T00:13:44.452-05:00Listed...<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEqZCSebxYa_SPY_99leOUvgOXCv_UXJaeDJ2TXBXAEEwYrZp7_udyKE9W6tlkEgh2mCrdwdwgAtbPE5CCSe6O5uoMVrce5-6jDGFwlVdZCU8Q4lRErb-NQ9K-s6KxQWt9K1oPoHSaaih8J5Y9p1xpiMK-M0shjsnFXseRCAsm0BMVy-tHWhoVwSyTefLb/s1374/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Sheep%20Pendant%20Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1374" data-original-width="1161" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEqZCSebxYa_SPY_99leOUvgOXCv_UXJaeDJ2TXBXAEEwYrZp7_udyKE9W6tlkEgh2mCrdwdwgAtbPE5CCSe6O5uoMVrce5-6jDGFwlVdZCU8Q4lRErb-NQ9K-s6KxQWt9K1oPoHSaaih8J5Y9p1xpiMK-M0shjsnFXseRCAsm0BMVy-tHWhoVwSyTefLb/w540-h640/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Sheep%20Pendant%20Collage.jpg" width="540" /></a></div> <p></p><p>The first items in my "For The Love of a Corgi" collection have dropped in my Etsy shop. Well, yesterday I counted, and I can now tell you that there are at least 130 (sometimes more) in each one.</p><p style="text-align: left;">The pendant measures approximately 1 1/2" x 1 1/4", and the sheep measure roughly 3/4" x 1/4", so that's a lot of knots fit into a small space.</p><p style="text-align: left;">These will be finished into their pendants today, and the necklaces will be listed in my shop this afternoon. (I have a hair appointment at 10 this morning, so they'll have to wait until I get back home.) So, if you're a knitter, love wools, love sheep, or even have a herding dog like Tag's breed, you may like wearing one of these.</p><p style="text-align: left;">Oh, and next week, I'm going to debut more items that will be labeled "For The Love of a Corgi". Every time I tell you they're in this category, a portion of the sale will be donated in Tag's name to CorgiAid. It's a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping corgis and corgi mixes get the medical care they need, and also providing carts to corgis with mobility issues. If you'd like to learn more about CorgiAid, <i><b><a href="https://corgiaid.com/" target="_blank">HERE</a></b></i> is a link to their website.</p><p style="text-align: left;">Watch for the sheep to land in my shop this afternoon. This is how I spent Monday, preparing to get to the hospital at 7:45 Tuesday morning. Good times. Actually, I was out cold for most of the morning.<br /><p></p><p>In the interest of avoiding "TMI", I'll forego the details. What I'll say is that I got a perfectly clean bill of health. Came home with Handsome as my chauffeur and spent the rest of the day doing mostly nothing. </p><p>My deep apologies for not sharing something creative, but I can't show what I haven't got. I did hoop up more natural linen fabric, so I can make two more sheepy pendants for my shop, but didn't have the clarity nor concentration to start making perfect, little French knots. </p><p>I think Handsome wants me to run errands with him this morning. He needs to get some new dress slacks for his concerts - and sadly to wear to a funeral of a dear friend next week who passed away in Florida. I'll take him to the airport next Monday. I'll stay home with the my canine and feline girls to keep the home fires burning.</p><p>When we get back home, I'll start on the sheep, hoping to finish them today or tomorrow and then get them listed.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX_Kc5kGUVjb0vUCLbahkCHFQIhMz9hZZfjihSEfg0Uar7V5vmrlv8feSEx7cMsBfB9FUF_HuIT9Qj71THzRl_O2ywNRZWB9qK40IV4lNRfoueQNys46ema2lOpnpK4ThBT1DQjPxf5-hh1Y83sOROb54rAxjTeed3Jg4DDa6xhOJ2viXFPvKrJG1NEAYj/s576/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Alcohol%20Ink%20Easter%20Eggs%20Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="555" data-original-width="576" height="308" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX_Kc5kGUVjb0vUCLbahkCHFQIhMz9hZZfjihSEfg0Uar7V5vmrlv8feSEx7cMsBfB9FUF_HuIT9Qj71THzRl_O2ywNRZWB9qK40IV4lNRfoueQNys46ema2lOpnpK4ThBT1DQjPxf5-hh1Y83sOROb54rAxjTeed3Jg4DDa6xhOJ2viXFPvKrJG1NEAYj/s320/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Alcohol%20Ink%20Easter%20Eggs%20Collage.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />There's been some interest in learning this alcohol ink egg coloring technique, so I'm planning to do a FREE Facebook live class on Saturday morning.<p></p><p><b>If you're interested, please comment letting me know.</b> Participants will need to purchase their own alcohol inks. Hobby Lobby, Joann's, and Michaels all have them, so hopefully you can pick some up. Here's the full supply list:</p><p style="text-align: left;">Alcohol Ink Assortment - in the stamping section of the stores<br /></p><p style="text-align: left;">1 or 2 sheets of felt (will be cut into smaller squares) <br /></p><p style="text-align: left;">White <u>plastic</u> eggs (white works best. Must be plastic)</p><p style="text-align: left;">99% isopropyl alcohol - small bottle is fine (I got mine at Walmart)<br /></p><p style="text-align: left;">plastic table cloth or something non-porous to protect your work surface</p><p style="text-align: left;">disposable plastic gloves to protect your hands - you'll want more than a few pairs. I bought a whole box at Walmart. </p><p style="text-align: left;">Plan to wear a smock or an old shirt if you tend to be messy. The ink won't come out of anything you get it on.</p><p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEbkVBQhhhZw3Nwjzf-ZSL-m29TwZ5xTQ5KTF22mQu7P4fUxpjTp5kz0PvlGunUsu87nIpdfmaamV-suWslcXhYguTFou9FxdflZp_PXg31ZYTHN5Uz66dqpL8tQ0FrMtLKqguwar5jQYKW0SfrVTzrSGwEQovtW9c-2mEYeBI0fIxwcYz0Jg50HKCNyfU/s2016/Kamar%20Varnish.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEbkVBQhhhZw3Nwjzf-ZSL-m29TwZ5xTQ5KTF22mQu7P4fUxpjTp5kz0PvlGunUsu87nIpdfmaamV-suWslcXhYguTFou9FxdflZp_PXg31ZYTHN5Uz66dqpL8tQ0FrMtLKqguwar5jQYKW0SfrVTzrSGwEQovtW9c-2mEYeBI0fIxwcYz0Jg50HKCNyfU/w300-h400/Kamar%20Varnish.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><p></p><p style="text-align: left;">Lastly, you'll need a non-alcohol sealer for your eggs. Sarah suggested Krylon™ Kamar Varnish, which you can get at Hobby Lobby or Walmart. I'll save the video to Facebook so those who can't make it can view it later. If you are unable to get your supplies by the class, don't worry, you can pick them up later (or order from Amazon) to make your eggs another time. I'm doing the class now in case you'd like to have them to add to your Easter decorations this year.</p><p style="text-align: left;">I hope you'll join me in my studio on Saturday morning! We created alcohol ink-dyed Easter eggs! These were done with plastic eggs and all of us really dug into this project. Even Adrienne's son got involved with this craft!</p><p>As I said, plastic eggs worked best for this project so that the inks could flow on the surface of the eggs. We also tried "dyeable eggs" from Hobby Lobby, but they have a matte finish and the inks just soaked into those. We set all those aside for another time.</p><p>Our group was smaller this time. Linda K, Nancy, Adrienne, Sara, Marie and I were the crafters this month. Debbie, Linda P., and Kim had other commitments. </p><p>Now for my story...When I got home, Handsome was waiting to see what I'd created this month. I showed the eggs to him and he loved them. We have a friend who plays in the Fond du Lac Band with him, and lately this friend has brought eggs from their chickens to give to us. They're delicious and greatly appreciated.</p><p>Handsome thought it would be nice if I could do a dozen of these eggs that he could give to our friend at tonight's rehearsal. I said I'd love to do it, but I'd only picked up plastic eggs from Hobby Lobby on my way home, having plans to purchase the inks from Amazon (where they were considerably less expensive). I told him eight colors at Hobby Lobby were nearly $25, while the inks at Amazon came in a package of twenty four colors for the same price as HobLob's eight. Even so, he wanted me to do the eggs, so he drove me back to the town so I could purchase the rest of what I'd need to make more eggs. </p><p>As we were driving, I texted the ladies in Portage to tell them we were on our way back to the craft store to buy supplies - and it was Handsome's idea! Linda K. and I have been friends for nearly fifty years. She commented "this is a first for those two!". She's right. Usually he's trying to talk me <i>out</i> of craft supplies, and this time, he was actually driving me to get more. It was a day to write down in my diary. lol</p><p>Anyway, I dyed Easter eggs for our musician friend, and also for my girlfriend/boss at work. I had shown her what we were working on and she loved them so much I decided to surprise her with a dozen, too. She was mentioning that she hadn't crafted in so long, she couldn't remember the last time, so I invited her to join us some time. She's going to go with me next month, so I'll get photos and introduce her to you in April.</p><p>I'm sure by now you can tell just how enthused we all were with this month's craft. I'm definitely going to make more, and I'm going to experiment with some other ways to use the alcohol ink. If you haven't tried it but are intrigued, maybe I'll do a live video to share the technique. Let me know if you'd be interested in participating. It could be fun!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/s115/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="37" data-original-width="115" height="64" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/w200-h64/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" width="200" /></a></div></div></div></div>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5258439638299238385.post-57260328044104374212024-03-10T00:49:00.000-06:002024-03-10T00:49:17.144-06:00Sunday Scripture...<p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTlURzgnmDIxCRBzNIy1nQqa4LMDg_bPOtonCyf8eBTPa1PLzQY9eea8yP7GTvDvYXqaNiVjzcNexVwWWbh92NgZiF4FmX7K0pUPy7xwDuIbSalFkqvyqSzUCF8ZlJ8sAxtkUNrpMBbzdVQ7JSD1XHqdLR3IuKDRCOdwkl8hGTCwLwWZ3FNlEkmwcY-mT6/s1024/Psalm%2037.23.24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="1024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTlURzgnmDIxCRBzNIy1nQqa4LMDg_bPOtonCyf8eBTPa1PLzQY9eea8yP7GTvDvYXqaNiVjzcNexVwWWbh92NgZiF4FmX7K0pUPy7xwDuIbSalFkqvyqSzUCF8ZlJ8sAxtkUNrpMBbzdVQ7JSD1XHqdLR3IuKDRCOdwkl8hGTCwLwWZ3FNlEkmwcY-mT6/w640-h640/Psalm%2037.23.24.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Psalm 37:23-24<br /></td></tr></tbody></table> <br /></p>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5258439638299238385.post-57295493042617411492024-03-09T00:00:00.004-06:002024-03-09T00:00:00.134-06:00Finality and Time For Something Fun...<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7kalPLkSZhaG_mzuES_GSTPyRnnCe9L7OTH3RFXGuvHuDAI_3TYF-E2m00dyl72g-UvtGW6ThKqTZS-zQkavBq8MomM-9elOsOcnk41LHKe_Kf7fKTY2txDai-yu8L7cAYuVjJQg646_IEpEbLUM2n8y6n_zaufTbs5jkAZrWs7zAusxbPuMLDRgRQ6bC/s720/Brynwood%20Needleworks-%20Tag's%20Remains.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="501" data-original-width="720" height="446" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7kalPLkSZhaG_mzuES_GSTPyRnnCe9L7OTH3RFXGuvHuDAI_3TYF-E2m00dyl72g-UvtGW6ThKqTZS-zQkavBq8MomM-9elOsOcnk41LHKe_Kf7fKTY2txDai-yu8L7cAYuVjJQg646_IEpEbLUM2n8y6n_zaufTbs5jkAZrWs7zAusxbPuMLDRgRQ6bC/w640-h446/Brynwood%20Needleworks-%20Tag's%20Remains.jpg" width="640" /></a></div> <p></p><p>Tag's remains came home late yesterday. The clinic and crematorium sent along wonderful memories for us, too. In addition to the beautiful box containing his ashes, we received a certificate, his paw print in ink and in plaster, a lock of his fur, and a bone of handmade paper embedded with wildflower seeds to plant in the spring. I was sad for a minute when I first saw everything, but these are the building blocks of the memorial to my beautiful boy and all our great memories of him. </p><p>I'll start concentrating on all the fun things we did, the times he made us laugh, the times he scared the pants off me when he ran off, watching him swim or retrieve, and all the times he just sat and looked in my eyes as I spoke to him. There's too much good to sit around crying for what was. Instead I'll celebrate my boy and try to be happy. I'm sharing this with you so you can see how much care our vet clinic and the crematorium took with him - and with us.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKopiw8UDNN5ciyXTuQrJffIKssnCWf-C7MPErRyBZNMtosjwXQn_viBZycRSL2Cjs7pO9O5-_J1Bt4-6sNP4YHFu4Zc-4kdiQ7iGrEUX82MEROxahVkLO7BOa2wwcSo3V-BC3RIVcwRcMUi-vzIVKzZFeQ2MDvbH9G9fk8nExGWL1m8iNfQL-TOSbiCyg/s426/Acorn:LeafSeparator.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="118" data-original-width="426" height="56" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKopiw8UDNN5ciyXTuQrJffIKssnCWf-C7MPErRyBZNMtosjwXQn_viBZycRSL2Cjs7pO9O5-_J1Bt4-6sNP4YHFu4Zc-4kdiQ7iGrEUX82MEROxahVkLO7BOa2wwcSo3V-BC3RIVcwRcMUi-vzIVKzZFeQ2MDvbH9G9fk8nExGWL1m8iNfQL-TOSbiCyg/w200-h56/Acorn:LeafSeparator.png" width="200" /></a></div><p>I'm leaving first thing this morning for Portage for this month's craft day at Adrienne's. It's earlier than usual this month, because our friend who is teaching this time couldn't make it later in the month. My understanding is that we're doing something Easter-themed. You just <i>know</i> I'll have photos for your on Monday!</p><p>I'm going to run. It's an hour and fifteen minutes to Adrienne's from here and I don't want to be late. We had rain all evening yesterday, which has turned into winds for the rest of the weekend. I don't want to feel rushed in traffic, so I'm taking extra time for the drive. I'll see you with more after the weekend.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/s115/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="37" data-original-width="115" height="64" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/w200-h64/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" width="200" /></a></div></div></div></div>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5258439638299238385.post-76607779745473719102024-03-08T00:00:00.014-06:002024-03-08T00:00:00.155-06:00Busy Hands, Busy Mind...<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzyofN5rrWT3kadVsARyo9BvyuVj6lJmu5y-AF9l62jji0sJ-nKmEmU7DMVVtqOBh1LrcqbxRbTKJXfhPy4NkeWPw9YHsbgmmndJsna6csaPyTKnoaIH7hP9y9tlBmONNLsCnScecEp2Ydk35jW74x25LjckN1L5UAa4s5wp6qXlVrXZbo3_AKXZr_oT3D/s576/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Vegetable%20Broth.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="576" data-original-width="434" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzyofN5rrWT3kadVsARyo9BvyuVj6lJmu5y-AF9l62jji0sJ-nKmEmU7DMVVtqOBh1LrcqbxRbTKJXfhPy4NkeWPw9YHsbgmmndJsna6csaPyTKnoaIH7hP9y9tlBmONNLsCnScecEp2Ydk35jW74x25LjckN1L5UAa4s5wp6qXlVrXZbo3_AKXZr_oT3D/w482-h640/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Vegetable%20Broth.jpg" width="482" /></a></div><p></p><p>I grabbed all the saved veggie scraps I'd frozen over the past month (from cleaning vegetables for meals), and popped everything into my stock pot yesterday morning. I topped it off with spring water and a bit of salt, and then let it simmer all day.</p><p>Shortly before dinner, I strained all the scraps, and jarred the broth. Into the pressure canner for 20 minutes while we prepared our evening meal, and turned it off as we sat down to eat. It depressurized and cooled so we could pull the jars before going to bed.</p><p>I got a lot done yesterday (and even took a little nap late day), and kept my mind busy. It's the best I can do right now, so I'm not just sitting and missing Tag. The Kid and her mama are great diversions, as are Claudette and Crystal, but it's still best for me to keep moving. I can safely say it was a good day, and I know each day will get a little easier.</p><p>These three quarts of vegetable broth will go into the pantry to be used with my home-canned soup starter, or in some other dishes. The fact that they were made with kitchen vegetable scraps was bonus. All the good parts of the vegetables made it into the pot. Nothing went to waste, and I really like that.</p><p>I'll be thinking about Dad today. It would have been his Birthday, but I know even though he's not here, he's celebrating. That makes me happy, but I miss him, too. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Dad.<br /></p><p>I work at 4 today, and I have a lot I'd like to accomplish before I have to leave. I'll be back tomorrow to check in on everybody. What do you have planned
this weekend? It's only been a few days, but thinking about Tag, reading and responding to your comments here - and the hundreds on Facebook - have really been a great help.</p><p>Knowing that others share my grief and sadness, and that many are praying for my healing has helped more than you know. Also having unshakable faith that I'll be reunited, not only with my Taggart, but with all our loved ones when we're called home is very comforting.</p><p>I really don't want anyone to feel more sadness with this post. That's not my intent at all. I have my boy tucked away in my heart, knowing that he isn't suffering any longer.</p><p>For those who wonder what happened, our vet believes that he suffered from IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), with probably a Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) component as well. If you don't know about IVDD and would like to understand what it is, <b><i><a href="https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/health/intervertebral-disk-disease-dogs/" target="_blank">HERE</a></i></b> is a link. I also have a DM link <i><b><a href="https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/health/degenerative-myelopathy-in-dogs/" target="_blank">HERE</a></b></i> if you aren't familiar with this devastating disease. It's the canine version of ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease and it's insidious, striking many corgis. Once there is a cure for one, there will be a cure for the other (DM/ALS). </p><p>Tag's breeder lied to me when I first inquired about her litters, telling me that she didn't have DM in her bloodlines. I learned differently months later, so I sent for a test kid from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). I returned the swab as directed, and the results came back that Tag carried both genes for DM, making him an "at risk" dog. Symptoms don't usually show until dogs pass their tenth birthday. He showed no symptoms until last week, although Tag had pain, and there is no pain associated with DM. The dogs feel nothing at all.<br /></p><p>We are not aware that Tag did anything to hasten an injury in the past few weeks. He was getting slower coming up the porch stairs, and I frequently carried him down to get out, and back up to go into the house. He'd quit coming to the second floor months ago, choosing to lie at the bottom of the stairs to wait for me to come back down. Other than that, we hadn't seen him falter, fall or yip in the course of his day, so we can't attribute his rapid decline to a specific event.<br /></p><p>We can only surmise that this condition just got worse as he grew older, and there was nothing to be done at his age. Surgery would have been a painful process with a long recuperation that would have held no guarantees he would ever walk again. It would have been selfish to put him through that. So, the tearful decision was made to hold him close, give him treats (ginger snaps from the vet), and set him free.<br /></p><p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXMDAp3iLZxpK_vdSQeYVJK5t_K14ZSK2DJzp9S3vPjP0e7a3dnLnm0lA2uSKgtqdMxESGveFlOo9AyVYzwD90UWd5zjGa2DVSbkjBAciWInuvOm61hnVc5yCg4OwH8zXHMj21sipH8nh_ohBPzxOv8RbzuCSqWoDQPDOzqSQJ7tOroRqaX2Lk1rBte_7P/s1280/Tag%20AI%20Image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="854" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXMDAp3iLZxpK_vdSQeYVJK5t_K14ZSK2DJzp9S3vPjP0e7a3dnLnm0lA2uSKgtqdMxESGveFlOo9AyVYzwD90UWd5zjGa2DVSbkjBAciWInuvOm61hnVc5yCg4OwH8zXHMj21sipH8nh_ohBPzxOv8RbzuCSqWoDQPDOzqSQJ7tOroRqaX2Lk1rBte_7P/w428-h640/Tag%20AI%20Image.jpg" width="428" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">From my friend, Sandy M.<br /></td></tr></tbody></table></p><p>This is an AI image that my friend, Sandy generate to share with me. I planned to work on it again Monday night while Handsome was at rehearsal, but there was something in my eyes and it was too blurry for me to work. I know you understand my meaning here. </p><p>I'm going to be working on this one again today after I clean up my sty of a studio and office. I've been neglecting them lately and it's time to put on my big girl panties and stop procrastinating. Once I've done that, I'll sit down with my needle and threads again.</p><p>Thank you to everyone who left a comment for me here and on Facebook. I've read each loving, considerate, comforting word you've written and promise to answer each one by the end of the week. You understand that it's difficult for me as this grief is still new. It will get easier with each passing day, and then I'll be able to respond thoughtfully - and hopefully, without blubbering all over my computer keyboard. Please just know how much your outpouring of support has meant to me and Handsome. </p><p>So, for now, I'll deal with these feelings by purging, cleaning, and organizing (again) in my studio. It's how I've always been under such conditions. I'll try not to make all of this weeks posts "Debbie downers", and look forward to sharing more completed projects soon. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I'm being gentle with myself, and needlework has always been my refuge, when I'm not leaning on family. I need to give them a break, too. Thanks again. Really.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/s115/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="37" data-original-width="115" height="64" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/w200-h64/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" width="200" /></a></div></div></div></div>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5258439638299238385.post-56607010798697005812024-03-05T00:00:00.011-06:002024-03-05T18:15:43.918-06:00Tuesdays With Tag - It's Been A Blast...<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiefxf-UfdIrl8aa48rrMtBD0VyRVklPSV0x42B9GEWdoQ9WQBigfLRtYlAaG3VZaiIxyj4AyKsJDzmmqjSZesrEMEGfjd44ViPBKbYSiSTMzRLkDBENR3mox5skGha4BTg4TfIrrGYMXc_fxK8HfrFbC9VyE-tAB01xGPGx-2ar8a9DBfW6yqZNbkxV527/s576/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Tag's%20Last%20Post.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="576" data-original-width="361" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiefxf-UfdIrl8aa48rrMtBD0VyRVklPSV0x42B9GEWdoQ9WQBigfLRtYlAaG3VZaiIxyj4AyKsJDzmmqjSZesrEMEGfjd44ViPBKbYSiSTMzRLkDBENR3mox5skGha4BTg4TfIrrGYMXc_fxK8HfrFbC9VyE-tAB01xGPGx-2ar8a9DBfW6yqZNbkxV527/w402-h640/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Tag's%20Last%20Post.jpg" width="402" /></a></div><p></p><p style="text-align: center;">Hi, Everybody!</p><p style="text-align: left;">I'm here on special dispensation to write my last blog post to you today. He and his wife, my other vet (who was out of town) have Corgi's too, so they know a lot about our breed. He was real gentle and talked nice to me as he did my exam, and then he told Mom and Dad that he didn't think I was ever gonna be able to walk again. (Somethin' was broken and couldn't be fixed at my age.) You all know me well enough to know that's unacceptable for me. I mean, who ever heard of "goin' on <i>dragabout</i>"? </p><p style="text-align: left;">It's been pretty inconvenient for me these past few days as I've had multiple accidents in the house, and had to be carried everywhere. As hard as Mom and Dad tried - and I know they would have done this forever for me - I wasn't gonna get better. I'm a Corgi! I'm meant to run around the yard, chasin' after Bella and Carly and the stoopid barn cats. Draggin' my hind end around is just somethin' I didn't want.</p><p style="text-align: left;">When I got to The Bridge, I could still hear Mom whisperin' to me, "I love you, Bubby. Tell the rest of our dogs we'll be along soon enough." Kes was waitin' for me, and my legs are workin' again! We ran around each other and were so happy to see each other. </p><p style="text-align: left;">Then, Kessie took me to meet our other dogs...Bryn, Bannor, Kyra, Duffer, Bee, Samantha Rose, Old Morgan, Morgan II, Fezzik, Kirby, and even the boys' dogs, Duncan, Friday, Conner and Bags. Man, we're partyin' like rock stars now!</p><p style="text-align: left;">Time is different here, too. What takes years back there only takes minutes here. I know Mom and Dad will be here soon by our timeline, but it's gonna seem like forever to them. So, I'm gonna get the gang together and we're gonna take turns visitin' them in their sleep, and we'll all watch over them until it's time for them to meet up with us again.</p><p style="text-align: left;">I'm a little sad right now, 'cuz I can see that Mom's havin' a really hard time. She hasn't stopped cryin' since I left her behind. I'm gonna have to give her extra snuggles when she sleeps. Did you know that's when your loved ones always visit you? When you sleep, your mind opens to all the possibilities. That's where I'll see her again and try to make her laugh. I'll try to make it hurt less for her. She's talkin' to me all the time, too. That's nice.</p><p style="text-align: left;">I know that right now, you're probably cryin', too. I get it. For the last thirteen years I've tried to tell you stories to make you laugh. I've shared my jokes, antics, and adventures with you almost every week. Try to be happy for me. I'm a real puppersnapper again with lots of friends up here...and I can run again. That's the best.</p><p style="text-align: left;">I'm hopin' that Mom will let Bella - or even Carly - check in with you once in a while. Maybe she'll just share an old photo of me from time to time. I know she's gonna work on somethin' special that she's gonna offer in her shop once she gets her feet under her again.</p><p style="text-align: left;">What? Oh...the gang is callin' me now. They tell me that I'm gonna get to meet The Big Guy now. They say He's the best. He loves animals and little children - just like Corgis do! They say He checks on us a lot to make sure we're taken care of. Speakin' of children...there are lots of them, and they all love havin' us around to play with. </p><p style="text-align: left;">So, I guess it's time for me to leave you. I really had a wonderful life spendin' time with Mom, Dad and all of you. I wish I could give all of you just one in-person <i>smooch</i>. You've been the best, and I love you all very much. I have to go now.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Until we meet again...</p><p style="text-align: center;">Smooches, </p><p style="text-align: center;">Your Best Boy.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn9NPzFEaa4g_8IvkVYzavSbVAtm7ZfXDcLEaJvvLGiAlR_6Op5-cB9yV_sWE0U7WHN7QxT625eMrv-85aHCAtTAU754c3trE6u70CfIunMSQtMscsLuqZEGZoQDw-NCRVf4IdLk4uDV5BrT_szVopANzMDad1n3zE5OAZMdpXnKMibHJotQz1xih4L_r_/s198/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Taggart%202024%20Signature-1.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="198" data-original-width="146" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn9NPzFEaa4g_8IvkVYzavSbVAtm7ZfXDcLEaJvvLGiAlR_6Op5-cB9yV_sWE0U7WHN7QxT625eMrv-85aHCAtTAU754c3trE6u70CfIunMSQtMscsLuqZEGZoQDw-NCRVf4IdLk4uDV5BrT_szVopANzMDad1n3zE5OAZMdpXnKMibHJotQz1xih4L_r_/s200/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Taggart%202024%20Signature-1.jpg" /></a></p>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com59tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5258439638299238385.post-16213597689545068602024-03-04T00:00:00.007-06:002024-03-04T00:00:00.170-06:00Completed Brooch...<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq1S-aiN45g63lW3AToU4C0Gl849ernSAeBAoBGT5Zi22VJRCvuSXeilOGvI0OW3lA4sDR7qk6bUxqdJWYQ0v1ihVf3zD-fZOHk8zMfdPg06Ox2E4zUgki6Z2UOSASPr62OA8zT20NjGnoKUdStqqWGXpEGv7KLJb32P_U5zxg_hqYbD3AuRXc8BYWXeXW/s576/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20Something%20Blue%20Brooch%20Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="566" data-original-width="576" height="628" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq1S-aiN45g63lW3AToU4C0Gl849ernSAeBAoBGT5Zi22VJRCvuSXeilOGvI0OW3lA4sDR7qk6bUxqdJWYQ0v1ihVf3zD-fZOHk8zMfdPg06Ox2E4zUgki6Z2UOSASPr62OA8zT20NjGnoKUdStqqWGXpEGv7KLJb32P_U5zxg_hqYbD3AuRXc8BYWXeXW/w640-h628/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20Something%20Blue%20Brooch%20Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p></p><p>My completed commission will be on its way to its new home today. I'm more than a little frazzled today. I slept in the living room last night with Tag, and although he had me up a couple times (and our nice, comfy sectional is <i>not</i> my bed) I do have mixed good news for everyone. </p><p>I took this picture of Tag this morning on our front lawn as he just sat looking at me. He'd only moved a bit from where I placed him because he came to the spoonful of peanut butter and meds I was offering him. TMI, perhaps...he pooped, but no urine since Thursday night. I've been concerned about that. </p><p>So here's today's update as of about 10:30 this morning that I posted on "FaceBark"...</p><p style="text-align: left;">"<span class="x193iq5w xeuugli x13faqbe x1vvkbs xlh3980 xvmahel x1n0sxbx x1lliihq x1s928wv xhkezso x1gmr53x x1cpjm7i x1fgarty x1943h6x xudqn12 x3x7a5m x6prxxf xvq8zen xo1l8bm xzsf02u x1yc453h" dir="auto"><i>What

Robaxin & methocarbamol. He's had bowel movements, but no urine

time for his breakfast. I had him on a rug in the living room, but his
mealtime task as "supervisor for adequate portions" could not be
conducted from there. He dragged himself to the <span></span>kitchen
and then tried to kennel himself to eat (usual routine. Meals in
crates.). I put down a waterproof rug and put him on it so he could eat.
Must have hit the spot, because he hosed down the rug while he wolfed
down his breakfast. Now, we're both feeling better. He has another vet
appointment on Monday. X-rays on the agenda to see if we can determine
if there's anything else going on with him. Thanks for all your comments

I made it for a guild challenge after Fezzik passed and I called it "For The Love of a Corgi". This piece hangs in my studio.</p><p>I told you yesterday that I planned to bake first part of the day, and then I'd finish the brooch I'm working on in the afternoon. So much for plans, I guess.</p><p>I did manage to bake four loaves of bread and a half dozen rolls. No stitching though, and definitely no dancing. Handsome had an appointment this morning, so it was my job to take care of the dogs. </p><p>Tag has had trouble coming up and down the porch steps lately, so I carried him out, as well as back in. As the day progressed, he was having trouble walking. I chalked it up to our hard floors because his back feet kept slipping out from under him. When Handsome got home, we discussed it, and he turned around and went back out to buy a few larger area rugs to make for a more "grippy" surface for my Corgi.</p><p>By midday, Tag couldn't walk at all, so I called the vet's office and we got him in to be seen as their last appointment of the day. Long story short, it seems he's got something going on with his back. Perhaps a pulled muscle or a trauma we don't know about, but when the vet manipulated and gently pushed his back, Tag yipped. He was also shaking (like he was shivering), and the vet thinks that's from pain, too, as Tag doesn't have "issues" with visiting his doctors. Never has. We discussed xrays, but as this has only been going on today, we decided to wait on that. If he has another cause for his back end not working properly, I don't want to know it yet.<br /></p><p>We were in their office nearly an hour. Tag got two different meds - one for pain and inflammation, and another for muscle spasms. He also got a laser treatment, and instructions for confinement for two weeks. No running around - although I doubt he could. He got a pill for the muscle spasms before we left their office, so he slept most of the evening after we got back home.</p><p>We're not concerned that it's degenerative myelopethy (DM) as their is no pain involved with that. (It's the same disease as ALS in humans.) If this were the case, his muscles would deteriorate from his back end to his front until everything just shut down. He does have pain, so we can rule out dreaded DM. Realizing that was a huge relief to me.</p><p>I'll be carrying him in and out for the foreseeable future, and pampering his frowsy, little butt for as long as he needs the extra TLC. Two different meds every day, and meals <i>en suite</i>. Heck, I'll probably be sleeping downstairs if he needs me, too. Whatever he needs. He's my best boy, and if I can <i>will</i> him better, he'll be up and back to his old self in no time. </p><p>Now that I can keep him comfortable, knowing what he needs, I'll keep him close as I stitch today. I work my usual Friday late day shift, but in the meantime, I plan to complete the brooch. Fingers crossed for my project, and prayers for my little man would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Great way to start a new month, don't you think? sheesh. The days just seem to fly by. Whoever said that retirement was a time to slow down was obviously never retired. I know. I have my little side "gigs" to occupy my time, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only retiree who finds plenty to keep themselves busy. While it's wonderful to have interests, why is it that now, when we want to savor our golden years, the time speeds by so quickly? I feel like another 8-10 hours a day would be more appropriate.</p><p>First thing on the agenda today is baking bread, but during the "in-betweens" I'll be stitching, as well as once the bread is out of the oven. I'm giggling right now. Of course, planning multiple tasks in a day quickly moves us from hour to hour until once again, it's time to bask in our accomplishments as we lay our heads on comfortable pillows. It's nice to have something to show for it at the end of the day.<br /></p><p>Well, rather than contemplating the meaning of life, I guess I'd better just get after it. No time to waste. Not even a little bit. Her husband is having an understandably difficult time, and going through my sister's things was difficult for everyone. My remaining two sisters and I did what we could to help, but there were a lot of tears amidst moments of happy memories and laughter. </p><p>Our nieces went back home yesterday, and will return in a couple months to put together an estate sale, but many boxes went for donation, and some items of sentimental value were given to family members. </p><p>Before the ladies left yesterday, I was able to meet up with them for a light lunch. Hugs were exchanged, and then we parted ways. My eldest niece was driving six hours to get home, while the other was heading to the airport to fly home. I got in my trusty Explorer and drove an hour north to the wedding shower for my great-nephew, Ethan's fiancee's wedding shower. We did the best we could to help our nieces over the weekend, then attend this celebration, but I know all three of us were tired by the end of yesterday. <p></p><p>Jan will be working today and tomorrow; Di will spend a little time with her son's family before leaving to drive six hours north to go home. She lives near my eldest niece, so she has nearly the identical drive. I'm going to get some things done with Handsome today, but I'll be able to rest a bit, too. This weekend was a good time to spend with family, but under the circumstances, it was exhausting, so we'll <i>recuperate</i> as we're able. </p><p>We all miss the sister who wasn't there, and it will always be this way for us. We were <i>four</i> and now we're <i>three</i>, but Lyn will always be in our hearts, and we'll do our best for her daughters, grandchildren, and husband.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/s115/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="37" data-original-width="115" height="64" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/w200-h64/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" width="200" /></a></div></div></div></div><p></p>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5258439638299238385.post-26305317545600922932024-02-25T00:00:00.001-06:002024-02-25T00:00:00.142-06:00Sunday Scripture...<p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR17pIwgMbm0No5PlhXtXCejvbOfdlSaKe_4y_snWbDOX8OcqcNFujAZOwSBnjXtX1ZdCzxEyFQPWIIO4keZU7X7_y-_AY2mmoE8xqdtYNpqvmfFmTcpOll-37xuuV_rDjGP1QIfEJwZFCYY5OaBeaPY444k28SuSJ94N4MKtVYZjfISVwrM5Kc6gzMlt3/s640/Deuteronomy%2029.29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR17pIwgMbm0No5PlhXtXCejvbOfdlSaKe_4y_snWbDOX8OcqcNFujAZOwSBnjXtX1ZdCzxEyFQPWIIO4keZU7X7_y-_AY2mmoE8xqdtYNpqvmfFmTcpOll-37xuuV_rDjGP1QIfEJwZFCYY5OaBeaPY444k28SuSJ94N4MKtVYZjfISVwrM5Kc6gzMlt3/w640-h640/Deuteronomy%2029.29.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Deuteronomy 29:29 (Pinterest Image)<br /></td></tr></tbody></table> <br /></p>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5258439638299238385.post-721380978920755432024-02-24T00:00:00.016-06:002024-02-24T00:00:00.135-06:00She's Entirely Too Comfortable...<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgouv_LtXsvSFDobZJNv5XadoncOWe4uvpKoL39yaRuvhPkFX9xWpXCCBVkKmNUkqQkyXRggU7ENXIwU6lM-t6A-6deTSbViZdbeiIjmw1tSU_pK-cUMTKluZQUsT4xhA-Hx-XidLEWjg40v-XiQb3sWHXl90mGFfJxO7SiMQ540aQPe2Gz48ui_n7MYpLh/s576/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Sofa%20Cat%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="501" data-original-width="576" height="556" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgouv_LtXsvSFDobZJNv5XadoncOWe4uvpKoL39yaRuvhPkFX9xWpXCCBVkKmNUkqQkyXRggU7ENXIwU6lM-t6A-6deTSbViZdbeiIjmw1tSU_pK-cUMTKluZQUsT4xhA-Hx-XidLEWjg40v-XiQb3sWHXl90mGFfJxO7SiMQ540aQPe2Gz48ui_n7MYpLh/w640-h556/Brynwood%20Needleworks%20-%20Sofa%20Cat%201.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><p></p><p>I don't even know what to say about this girl. My nephew's fiance' will receive this at her bridal shower on Sunday.<br /></p><p>I estimate approximately 20 hours of stitching went into creating the finished piece and love how it turned out. I didn't have (and so far can't locate a source for) baby blue brilliant check purls (the sparkling fiber I used on the red hearts, as well as the frogs and religious heart pieces) so I used beautiful seed beads instead. I just as happy with the end result.</p><p>I'm going to be offering these brooches as bridal gifts, and will work with my clients to choose the color blue they prefer (I do have an assortment of blue check purls - sadly not in baby blue; or they can select from an assortment of blue seed beads combined with silver check purls.) I think the silver coordinates better with the blues than gold. The client can also choose to keep or add the center cross, per their personal preference. Perhaps they're having a civil ceremony and would like to omit the cross?</p><p>Of course, the bride can then choose to wear it on the waist of her gown, under her gown on the petticoat or on her garter, or incorporate it into her bouquet. I'd just suggest she remove it before she tosses her flowers to the next bride. </p><p>As with all my needlework pieces, it is my fond hope that they will become treasured family heirlooms, and this piece especially. I will include a card that the original bride, as well as future brides can add their name to in the event you would like to keep a family record.</p><p>Each brooch will be carefully packaged in a chiffon drawstring bag, which is then tucked into a presentation box to protect it. If you're interested in purchasing one of these brooches, please contact me for pricing information and/or to arrange a commission. Thanks!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/s115/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="37" data-original-width="115" height="64" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLf8JxKcHpKmY2PkbMCxJUzusuBIaf9oKE3RB2QqJchzMMMPmPtCeLUwtokKTobQUfFOHnOL7aj7aCcMcvgNxPZIaenG5WXoYNQw_lBFl10tJB0NPfWyY51kaQJeJtbv2bCFHki7Vf0RN7aHHN7XJVG7r2IpP-ggN9Bj6I6bA08bdI0vqrx1Mxc_Dme78/w200-h64/BW+Donna+Signature.jpg" width="200" /></a></div></div></div></div><p></p>Brynwood Needleworkshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025334306730418679noreply@blogger.com17
