Weathering The Storm...

November Skies At Hickory Hill Farm

I love autumn skies in Wisconsin, and our views from our farmhouse and property are second to none. Everywhere we look, it's always awe inspiring.

November Skies At Hickory Hill Farm

This past week has been, in many ways, frightening for Handsome and me. What began as something we thought was flu turned into a trip to the hospital and ultimately, surgery.

My Handsome Husband

I went to the hospital yesterday, to find my husband, sitting up and smiling at me. Smiling that smile when he's happy to see me, and all my fears disappeared like the clouds blowing away over our hillside.

He looked so much better than he did before surgery, and we both knew that everything is going to be okay. The doctors have done their job with great skill, and Handsome is already on the road to recovery.

I'm so very grateful. Grateful for our family and friends who have voiced their concern, lifted prayers, and checked on Handsome...and me. I can now tell everyone that he'll be home after the weekend, and knowing that he's getting better, I'm fine now, too. I can breathe again. We do what we do best - taking care of each other - and life will be back to our normal very soon.

  1. So happy your husband is doing well! That has to be very scary! Here in New England we've had typical New England weather - major rain/heavy wind one day, 50s the next, snow predicted for next week...never boring. Fall wasn't quite as colorful as it's been in the past - we didn't get the cold nights until really late in October, but still, love driving around on weekends and seeing those blasts of red and orange! Thanks for all you share - you are truly an inspiration. Love your puppies!

  3. Dear Donna, I am so sorry to hear about Handsome. That must have been so scary. I am glad that he is on the road to recovery so quickly. I know what you mean about the smile. At this point I don't know if I will ever see the smile Jim has been giving me for forty years again. Whatever smile he has when he comes out of this I know I will love for the time that God gives us. I am so happy things were resolved for you and Handsome will soon be home.
