When I got home from work yesterday, I pulled a selection of colors that I think may work for my goldwork Corgi brooch. As with the wedding monogram, things are flexible until I declare it finished, so I'm sure I'll preview colors and ideas as I go. There will also be black for the eye, and red for the heart, of course!
I'm planning to prepare the calico and transfer my design today. Then, I'll begin with the padding before any stitching. We'll see how much needlework I actually accomplish though. The weather has been changing the past couple days, and it's cold again, which wreaks havoc on my hands. They're pretty sore right now. I'll take a couple Tylenol and see if that improves. If so, I'll do a lot more needle dancing than I feel like at this moment. I'll do my best, as I'm very anxious to begin this piece.
What are you working on right now? Are you doing something crafty? Reading a good book? (I must get some audio books for my stitching time!) I'd love to know what you're working on (and book recommendations would be fun, too!)
Time for a cuppa and then off to the studio! I hope you have a truly blessed day. See you tomorrow.
Loving the colors I see! I'm not surprise that your hands "rebel" at times with how hard they work, but, I'm sorry that they do. How's that saying go? The mind is willing, but the flesh is weak? Sigh. Hope the Tylenol does the trick!
ReplyDeleteHi Lois:
DeleteI'm glad you like the colors. They may change a bit as I work with them, but these are the basics, for sure. I know that saying, too. Tylenol definitely helps!
Enjoy the day, my friend.

I hope Tylenol helps your hands.
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be a beautiful brooch.
I am working on a WI stitch by Thread milk Designs.
She has done all 50 states.

Hi Marilyn:
DeleteThank goodness, the Tylenol does bring relief. Then I can keep stitching. Your piece sounds intriguing! I bet it will be perfect for our home state. Enjoy!

Hope you can start stitching soon. Hand issues are so frustrating for those of us who do hand work. Right now I'm trying to get quilt and cross stitch WIPs done. I'm also reading one of Kate Carlisle's book in her Bibliophile mystery series. I finally finished a biography of Harry Truman by David McCullough that was absolutely fascinating and brilliant.
ReplyDeleteHi Suz:
DeleteYou're so right. Frustrating is the perfect word. I did a little today, but it was a chore. And at my age, if it's not my hands, my eyes need a break. sigh lol I've never heard of your book's author. I'll have to look into her works. Thanks for the recommendation. Handsome read the Harry Truman bio when we were still in Florida. He enjoyed it, too.
Happy Thursday!

I'm so sorry about your hands and I know very well how it feels. When I complain about sore hands my RC says just quit what I'm doing, but I hold up how my role model who crocheted well into her late 80's working with arthritis in her hands. She maintained that keeping them flexible by continuing to create with them was the best thing to do and I've taken a page out of her book. That's not to say that there's not the odd Advil taken or some Voltaren applied.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I taught the workshop, today it's errands and then a friend is coming for coffee this afternoon so there won't be much stitching done here.
As for books - I highly recommend 'The Women' by Kristin Hannah (actually pretty much any book by her is worth reading).
Hi MA:
DeleteOur guys always want to help us. I get it. I think your aunt is right though. Keeping our hands (and minds) busy is better than giving in. I'll take a pill or apply some "liniment" and keep going. I hope you had a nice coffee break with your friend. That sounds delightful. I'll look into your book recommendation, too. Thanks!
Enjoy the day.

This is the first post I could open since Tag’s passing. It hit me hard too and you write so well. I have thought of all the ones we loved so dearly before. All rescues, this latest is pure bred because the last rescue bit my husband and I after being in a loving home with us for about 6 months. My husband said we were getting too old to get bit. So we got Bailey Bear at 6 month after Christmas 2022. At not even 2 years old he has old man bones. Of course, we were encouraging him to jump out of the truck, when told to do so, and now understand why he didn’t want to. About the time “WE” lost Tag, Bailey had elbow dysplasia surgery and for the rest of his life no jumping, stairs (only because he has to) for getting in and out of the truck and travel trailer. He will not get better, but will deteriorate as he grows older. Of course, we are doing what ever we can to ease his pain, which we know well. Thank you for being a great writer and inspiration. I just finished a woodwork piece, “He is Risen” by Yellow Creek Quilt Co and am working on “Evergreen” beaded ornament by Christmas Creations, along with a Les Fraises by Heartstring Samplery.
ReplyDeleteOh, Bobbi:
DeleteI'm so sorry to read about what you're going through with Bailey. These wonderful souls have the ability to steal our hearts, and then rip them apart as we nurture, love, and then eventually lose them. It's so hard to keep them from jumping up or down. It's in their makeup. Even Tag loved jumping onto and off the sofa - often to bark at a car down the road! My comfort is knowing he had things on his own terms. I miss him terribly - and the house is much quieter without him. Please know that I'll be praying Bailey lives many more years with your loving care. Thank you for your kind words about my writing. First and foremost is always to speak from my heart. I so appreciate that you feel inspired by some of my posts. Your projects sound wonderful. I'm going to look up the pieces on line to see what they look like.
Big hugs from Bella, Carly, Claudette, Crystal and Me. You're in my thoughts.

Sorry I failed to add my name in the above comment.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see this come together, the colors are great.
ReplyDeleteI hope the Tylenol helps.

Hi Shirley, dear.
DeleteTylenol or meloxicam do the trick. It will help once this spring weather settles down, too. I really want to just sit and stitch.
Happy Thursday!
