This photograph is to remind you what my Brynwood "Ensemble" bags look like. I use cork fabric for the side pockets and bottom. The rest of the bag is made from slub canvas, stabilized decor fabric or denim. These were sold last year, but I'm making more for my booth.
These are the fabric combinations I chose (along with another denim set). The lining fabric is on the left and the exterior fabric is on the right. If it's a quilting cotton weight, I use 3-4 layers of stabilizer to give it the same weight as my cork fabric, and for added strength for the bag.
I'll be cutting and assembling these bags today and over the weekend. Tomorrow is Craft Day in Portage, and I'm planning to attend barring bad weather. There's a family Birthday party on Sunday with the same caveat. Neither are all day events, so I'll sew when I get home. I expect to share photos of the finished bags on Monday. Wish me luck!
Good luck making the bags!
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics are all beautiful.
Hope you can make it to craft day.
We've had light snow for 3 days now, doesn't amount to much, but slippery!

Hi Marilyn:
DeleteI didn't make it to craft day. Snowed here Friday and all day Saturday. Then I heard about the big accident caused by slippery roads, and I was awfully glad I stayed home. I may not make it to the birthday party today either. Darn snow.
Stay warm.

You have the prettiest fabrics! Hope the weather cooperates for both of your get togethers over the weekend. We missed (again!) our planned 'Christmas' with our #1 son and his family that was supposed to be yesterday....gotta love winter in Canada!
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteMissed Craft Day, and it's not looking good for the Birthday party either. I'd rather stay safe at home than venture out. I'm less adventurous the older - ahem - more mature I get. wink Sorry you missed your party, too.

Beautiful fabric choices. Another sell out. Hope the weather holds out. Tuesday we had four inches of snow and then two inches of rain on top of that with temps at 48, back to brown again. Have a good weekend.

Hi Shirley:
DeleteThe weather is so unpredictable these days. We were in the high 30s last week, and we're scheduled to be below 0 this week. I checked forecasts and saw nothing about the snow we got on Friday until it was in full swing. I stayed home today, and may well have to tomorrow. Snow all over the drive and although I can, I'm not much for getting out the tractor to move snow. sigh We'll see how I feel after I get up in the morning.

Sherry of createology: Oh please Mother Nature let Donna enjoy her days of creativity with friends and birthday celebrations with family. Your sewing will get done dear. Love all your wonderful fabrics. Blessings…
ReplyDeleteDear Sherry:
DeleteThank you for your kind thoughts. I woke up to snow falling on Saturday morning, and decided to stay home. It only got worse as the day went on. It's still snowing now, so I may not get to the Birthday party either. It's okay. I'd rather stay safe than venture out. At this point, I'm snowed in anyway. I'll just stay home and sew.
Sunday Blessings,
xoxo

I hope you weren’t on the interstate today that had a large pileup. Sounds like you are snowbound.
ReplyDeleteHi:
DeleteNo. I stayed home, but wouldn't have been near that accident. Actually, Husband called from Florida to tell me about it. He'd seen it on the news down there! My sister and her husband were on the road at 6 am Saturday to come down for the Sunday Birthday party and missed most of the weather. I was concerned for them and was glad to hear they were already in town and safe.
Thanks for your concern.
xoxo
