The Elves Are Busy...

We're bracing for a terrible snowstorm and cold spell this weekend. It may begin today. I made sure the barn girls have lots of insulation and their warm pads to keep them safe. I'll check on them multiple times today to see that they're comfortable. You know I'll fret about them until this passes. I've said we have a "negotiated" two cat limit here (Handsome's not a feline fan), but I'll find a way to bring them in if they're too cold.

I'm just completing a last stitching project, and I'm sewing Grammie's Jammies now. I'd love to be able to sit with a cuppa tea to visit with you, but no time to chat today, dears. I'll be back tomorrow to share what I complete today.

  1. Oh, I hope the storm we are expecting isn't too bad.
    I do feel bad for all of the strays out there.
    I need to go out for a few last things today, but I will go early,
    I know the stores will be busy, but I'll be ok.

    1. Hi Marilyn:
      We ran our final errands this morning, and then I had a little stroke of genius (I think). I have a great studio work lamp that puts out a little bit of heat. It also has a safe cover so it won't overheat or be risky to have in the barn. I hooked it up in their bed, and when I checked on them this evening, they're perfectly comfortable out there. I can sleep well tonight, knowing they will, too. Fingers crossed that the weather isn't near what they're forecasting.
      Stay safe!

    1. Same to you, dear Bonnie. I'm praying for everyone in the path of this system. It could be bad.

  3. Storm is expected here too which will put a stop to a lot of holiday plans by the sounds of things. Sad because this is the first year in over ten that our chef son has Christmas day off and we were hoping to see them. Will have to wait and see what happens.
    Enjoy making your jammies - and stay safe and warm!

    1. Hi MA;
      We're expecting #2 son, his family and the girls' boyfriends on Friday night, barring hazardous traveling. Fingers crossed. I hope you'll be able to see your son on Christmas day, too. I know how much it means to parents to spend time with our families. I hope this bad storm is a mouse, rather than a lion.

    1. Hi Sherry:
      It's the last thing I did this evening (around 11pm). It's already starting to sleet, with the wind picking up, and it's bitterly cold. Read my response to Marilyn to see what I came up with to safely keep them warm. Plus, there was a gap below the barn door that separates their area from the main barn, so I found a nice heavy tarp that I could hang over that door and close off the big gap, to shut down more cold air that might blow in.I know they'll be safe and warm tonight and the coming few days which are expected to be so cold and windy. I shuffle my feet going back and forth (and keep my eyes focused on the ground) so I don't fall. Of course, if something comes at me at shoulder level, I'm toast. lol Sewing is going well, and amazingly, I really have no pressure beating on me. It's really nice.
      Big hugs.
