I managed to stitch a bit over the weekend and this is where I am so far. In the top image, I'd begun to add pine boughs to my embroidery. I took that photograph while there was plenty of daylight. In the lower image, I'd decided against my choice of colors for the boughs, so I took them out, and am currently in the process of adding more leaves.
Once I complete the leaves, I'll go back and add boughs (and sparkle). I'm going to choose a more subtle, blue spruce-type color for the pine accents. I'll work on it again today, and show you where I get to when I'm back on Wednesday (with better photographs). As usual, the short guy will be back tomorrow.
Goodness! I just realized Christmas is only two weeks away, and I'm going to need to make some Grammie's Jammies. I'll get started on that in a day or so, too. It seems Santa's Workshop got a bit waylaid this month. Time to get back on track. People are counting on me! No time to waste.
It looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteDon't stress too much about making jammies!
Marilyn
Hi Marilyn:
DeleteThanks so much. As for the jammies, the grands have stopped growing (for now), so I already have the sizes. Should be simple this year. (fingers crossed).

Looks great so far! Reverse stitching isn't fun but sometimes it's the only way you'll end up being happy.
ReplyDeleteHah - I guess I hadn't better mention that I took a page out of your playbook and made 'Grammie Jammies' for our kiddos this year and intend to continue that tradition going forward. I tried to knit them sweaters but my hands didn't like it and after I'd had to tear out part of the second (of 4!) sweaters Resident Chef convinced me that PJ's were the better way to go. He, of course, was proven right.
Hi MA:
DeleteYou're right. "Frogging" is no fun, but I'm happier with the new direction. I'm so tickled that you're adopting the Grammie's Jammies tradition. Your kiddos will certainly look forward to them each year. I know ours do. As for RC being right, I tell people "I knew I was marrying Mr. Right. I just didn't realize I was marrying Mr. Always Right." lol Gotta love our guys.

Ha ha - Mr. Always Right - that's funny (but often true!).
DeleteI knew you'd like that. His being right has saved my bacon more than once. I seldom complain about it.

It’s looking beautiful! Andrea Hickman

It's going to be beautiful! I'm glad you are still going to put in boughs - I really liked them! - you always make good selections so I know it will be even better when you finish! I've got to get busy sewing 7 pairs of Grammie Jammies (total "labor" of LOVE!) Unfortunately, this workshop does not have any elves to assist! LOL! Sometimes I wonder if you have elves hiding somewhere that come out at night - think "The Elves and the Shoemaker" - the way you are able to create SO MANY lovely items at an incredible pace! (-; Guess, we all better get busy! (Busier?! More busy?)
ReplyDeleteHi Lois:
DeleteThanks so much, dear. I did add the boughs back in and completed them today. I love the new direction better. Now to add the finishing touches. Seven Pairs of Jammies?!!! Goodness, you're going to be a busy elf! My elves have been slacking this season. No one even reminded me that Christmas is only two weeks away, so I'm doing my best to avoid Christmas Eve sewing - which I've done in the past. No fun! I'm going to have to find out which elf was supposed to remind me and dock his hot cocoa rations. lol

Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd Christmas only two weeks away, wasn't it just the Fourth of July a month or so ago?
Where has this year gone?
Shirley
Hi Shirley:
DeleteYou know it! I don't know how the time folds to move so quickly as we mature. I do know that I'm not fond of it. I did enjoy the slower pace of youth. 2024 will be here before we know it.
