Brynwood Needleworks - 10th Blog Anniversary |
Ten years ago today, I wrote my very first blog post. I keep reading from other bloggers that "blogs are a thing of the past". Most of my blog friends either post periodically, or they've just abandoned their blogs altogether. I don't know whether or not what they're saying is true, so I'm going to ask you, my friend.
Are blogs really a thing of the past? Are you tired of reading them? Have you lost interest in the subject matter? Your answers will enter you in my "Tenth Blog Anniversary Giveaway".

So, go ahead. Sound off, and help me celebrate my ten years of blog posts. Thanks so much for visiting, whether you've been here since the beginning, or are a more recent friend. Good luck in the drawing, too!
By the way - I may add more gifts before the deadline to enter! Maybe something needlework related?

ReplyDeleteMarilyn
Hi Donna,I always read your blog,I don’t always leave a comment but check in with you every day even on Sundays to read your prayer. My own blog stopped working a while ago.I could no longer load pictures and my computer skills are not great.Im in the process of “trying “to build another one.Happy 10th blog birthday .xx
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love reading blogs although I don't often comment. I'm here with you everyday, and I'm always curious to find out what Tag and Bella have been up to. Life is far too busy, but reading blogs and seeing the eye candy inspires me to keep sewing and doing embroidery. Congrats on your anniversary.
ReplyDeleteHad so much trouble with blogger several years ago that I just quit mine. I couldn't post or comment or load anything. I still go there once in awhile for a picture or a pattern link that is there. I do read some blogs when I'm reminded.
ReplyDeleteI myself don't post on my blog as much as I used to, but I do still post atleast once or twice a month. I love reading blogs still and do! Please continue blogging, your blog is wonderful! Thank you for having this anniversary giveway also!! :)
ReplyDeleteread your blog daily--would miss it if you stopped writing
ReplyDeleteHappy blogiversary. I love reading blogs. I've probably learned more about quilting from blogs than from any other source (and I have a huge quilt book collection). So thanks for staying the course.
ReplyDeleteDonna Dear Congratulations on 10 years of blogging. I love reading your blog each morning when I get up. You live life with such Grace and your creative skills are such inspiration for me to be a better person. Tag and I have a special online bond and Bella is...well Bella is very sweet. Tag keeps me laughing! I really do miss my blogging but when Blogger had so many isssues...I just gave up because I am not computer savvy and hubby who is cannot be bothered with Blogger or my iPad..he is old school 1’s and 0’s. Blogging with no photos is not for me and blogging without being able to read any comments is not for me. Makes me sad. Your blog is wonderful! I am very grateful for you and my other favorite bloggers for slogging through. Your gives are wonderful and show your generous soul. Thank you very much for being YOU and sharing through blogging. xo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 10 years of blogging, Sweet Friend! I still enjoy blogs... yours has always been a favorite and how we met! I love that they are collections of stories... not just a quick photo. I have kept my blog, too. All the very best to you! Hugs~
ReplyDeleteHappy 10th...I remember back when you first started it. I know it was unchartered territory for you. I've always enjoyed everything you share with us. Thru thick and thin, you always manage to keep connected with us. Even if I am behind on reading them, which is the norm for me these days. It's nice to know I can go back thru the archives and catch up. I fondly remember "Fezz Fridays" And always look forward to "Tuesdays with Tag". It gives me a chuckle to know what he and "the black dog" are up to! I enjoy the variety of the beautiful information, which is so inspiring. ( to this "mending sewer") maybe there's hope for me and the Singer still sitting in the box it came in!
ReplyDeleteAnd, "Sunday Scripture" always seems to be just what I needed. I especially look forward to the end of the year, when you let us know what your "word" for the coming year will be. Out of curiosity, I'd love to see the list of those chosen from years past. We're any duplicated? Does not matter...it's all good.
Everyday you continue to amaze me with your talent. You are just so gracious, generous, caring, compassionate to all, including creatures great and small. ( just to name a few)
Thank you for sharing your life and loves, in a way I don't think anyone else could. ( handsome & mom Grace too)
Excited for this new chapter at Hickory Hill.
I treasure our friendship and look forward to the day when we can finally meet and have a giant Cuppa! Xoxo
I fix a cup of tea and set down to read "the blogs" every morning. Messes up my whole day if I miss it. I do not always comment because on many blogs, the comment seems to go walk about and never show up on the blogs. I do not know if its Google, my computer, security settings or the fickle finger of fate.
ReplyDeleteWhile I do not expect every blogger to comment on my posting its nice to know when I share my thoughts they make it thru . The other problem lately is to show I am "real" I sometimes have to go thru 5 to 6 very small fuzzy screens and pick out all the buses and then to cars and bicycles ect. Sucks big time.. Like just now I timeed out and had to do it agian
I LOVE ❤️ your posts especially on Tuesdays . You do amazing work and your farmhouse is to die for. Here’s to the next 10 years.
ReplyDeleteI do still read blogs. When I first discovered blogs, I subscribed to LOTS of them. I am now down to about 10 that I read on a regular basis; about 10 more that I just read a post now and then. I really enjoy reading the ones that I read on a regular basis and they are not all just quilt related. I like humorous writers especially. Love your blog - yours is one of my regular, read all the time blogs.
ReplyDeleteComing out of lurkdom once again Donna, simply because I want to answer your question about blogging (please don't enter me in the giveaway tho', because it's not fair to enter if I don't comment regularly!!). Anyway....I'm a blogger and hope to be for a long time to come. I enjoy the personal connection with people and the sharing and learning that goes on. To me, facebook and instagram (and whatever else is out there that I have no clue about) is just simply too impersonal. Like you, I have noticed an exodus away from blogging towards places like instagram and I'm afraid I simply won't follow someone if they do that. I have no interest in getting involved with any other platforms. I have noticed a few people who abandoned their blogs and returning, but I don't know if that's because they are disillusioned with where they went, or if they simply missed blogging. I used to try my best to post at least five x each week on mine, but that has now more or less settled into 3 and I'm okay with that. I really enjoy reading your blog and particularly look forward to Tag on Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna. I read your blog and several other favorites though not as many as I used to. If not for blogs, I would never have met you. What a shame that would be. I have thoroughly enjoyed our friendship and appreciate all that has entailed. Your talents have inspired me, encouraged me and introduced me to cork fabric and other new experiences. Thank you my friend.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 10 years of blogging. Donna, blogs are my quilt guild, community, inspiration. I don't have a real guild by me. Everything is on the computer. Seeing your projects, helping you decide on something, seeing tips and shows you attend. Mistakes that happen - let me know it isn't just me. Please keep blogging and inspiring us. 24Tangent@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you for blogging for 10 years, but especially congratulations to us, all of your readers. I love reading blogs, much better than instagram, facebook, etc.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on #10. Just know that there are still those of us out there who STiLL are not onboard with all the social media sites. I follow a lot of blogs and am sad to see them go. But I am noticing that there are ones returning again saying they miss it and want to return. I feel blogs are way more personal and yours in particular I love for you first, then scripture and that adorable Tag. Please don’t stop!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna - I do still read blogs and I read yours every day. I wish there was a way for me to double tap so you would know I read it and liked it. I don't always have time to comment. Your giveaway is generous, just like you!
ReplyDeleteBlogs are not dead, and I look forward to seeing yours as often as possible. It is a real treat to see the creativity you and other bloggers write about. We need more inspirational and positive communication in the world these days. Thank you for all the effort you put into your blog, and all the joy and uplifting moments you bring to your readers.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your blog every day --- you are so creative and Tag is such fun to hear about. I read other blogs as well --- I hope that blogging is not dead! What a lot of inspiration we would all be deprived of hearing and learning about.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on at least 3652 blogs - you also celebrated 2 leap years!!! thank-you for your time and your dedication to sharing a little piece of your life but most of all for all the inspiring ways to pass on a love for sewing, for life, and for home and family.
ReplyDeleteI am not on social media and have no intention on joining at this time in my life. I really dislike when folks in the sewing world assume everyone is on face book and that is where one can go for inspiration or to join a group. I understand that the mechanics and platform of face book make that very easy to do and to host however for those of us that have no interest in social media - blogs are our source of information/resource/inspiration etc. I know personally for me, I am a customer of few retailers because of bloggers including you that I would not have found or thought to look for.
I do not agree that blogging is a thing of the past at all - for me it is a simpler way of life than following social media. I am grateful to every blogger who takes time to share and inspire.
Congratulations again - love your blog and Tag's commentaries just as much. Many blessings
I don't know if they are a thing of the past or not. I know that I used to be subscribed to a lot more than I am now but the ones I am still subscribed to are special to me. Reading your blog is how I end my day. I enjoy that ending at the computer as you always give me something uplifting to stow away before I turn it off. Besides your stitching, decorating, and "kitchening", my life would be a sadder place without Tag's posts on Tuesdays. Oh, and I am always in need of the particular scripture you put up on Sundays. Since I have never had a Blog I do not know all of the work that you have to put into getting a post out everyday. I know it doesn't magically happen and I do appreciate the time and effort you put into your daily offering. Thank you for 10 years. I haven't been here all that time but almost. I saw Tag come aboard and that has been fun all the way!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteThere are very few days that I miss reading some of my favorite blogs...yours is always at the top of the list. I love the stories and inspiration...almost like reading a magazine filled to the brim with so much variety.
Congratulations Donna! You are amazing!
Lucy
Hi Donna: I love reading blogs and yours is the first one I read every morning. I find lots of good ideas for crafting from reading blogs and watching You Tube videos. Happy Anniversary, Nancy
ReplyDeleteI love reading blogs! I read yours every day so I know what you're up to. I failed miserably at keeping my blog going, but I really enjoy reading the few who still blog regularly. Keep it up another ten years!
ReplyDeleteKathy
Love reading your blog - it is wonderful to have a ray of sunshine and positivity each day. Congratulation on 10 years. Quite an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteDorothy
I read several blogs daily through Bloglovin. I have a blog but rarely post on it. I am not as talented as most of you successful bloggers. I love Tuesdays with Tag. Very clever.
ReplyDeleteI definitely still read blogs, I’m not one to comment. I usually read at night while watching TV. I can’t just sit and stare at the TV I need to do more, like read blogs or hand sew hexies. I love quilting and also have a soft spot for most animals. I really enjoy Tuesday’s with Tag, I crack up all the time, Bella’s no slouch either. Please keep blogging, I can’t imagine I’m one of a few that still reads blogs. I’m sure there are many like me out there that read everyday. Happy 10th Anniversary! Toni Anne
ReplyDeleteP.S. Please pet Tag and Bella for me.
This is Donna. I'm adding this comment for Karen, so she'll be entered in the drawing. Thanks for making me laugh out loud, Karen!(Tag chuckled, too. ;-) )
ReplyDelete"Congratulations, Donna! Had to email because I would have appeared as Anonymous in the Comments.
Just wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed your blog over the years. I think I got there because of
Tag and wished I could have known your other Corgi too. Really enjoy the beautiful embroidery and creations.
Was fascinated by the Royal Needlework School.
Have to tell you this: a while back you and Tag were riding in the car, he in the passenger seat and you
In the driver’s seat…he says, “Hey Mom, can I drive?” You look at him with a little smile on your face
and say, “No, Tag.” I thought, “How does she keep a straight face when he says something like that?”
It took two beats before it dawned on me, He’s a dog! He can’t talk! That’s how real he gets by having
his own blog. Ha
Was so glad when you moved back to Wisconsin. My maternal grandparents were from east of Merrill and
Wausau. I got there twice and loved it. The Wisconsiners were a big part of my growing up.
The best to you and yours,
Karen Murphy"
I still enjoy reading blogs, but I don't spend as much time on the computer as I used to. My blog seems to have been abandoned about 6 months ago. I keep thinking about going back to start again, but I guess I'm just too lazy. I still keep in contact with the close friends that I've made, and I do have good intentions, but . . . . Congrats on 10 years!!
ReplyDeleteHappy 10th Blogiversary, wow that is a big one. I have been reading your blogs for several years now. Actually, I get myself together every day and look for your Blog, somehow it inspires me to make the best of my day, it is the first thing I do to start my day. Thank you for sharing your very interesting life with us. Donna I have learned so very much from you over the years. It is always uplifting and brightens my day. Your giveaways are always so very nice. I have won one or two over the years and am still working on my quilt pieces, eventually you will get to see it. I would love to win one of your prizes, what a lucky group of ladies to be inline for these treasures. Love you and your blog for all you contribute to this beautiful world of ours. Many blessings and please enter me in the giveaway. Thank you. Gloria
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I missed this post. I love reading blogs even though I haven't kept mine up too good.
ReplyDeleteI lost most of my followers when everyone had to change to a different way to follow blogs. If they didn't add me to Bloglovin' or however else they follow, they don't see my posts. I'm trying to do better.
I love your blog. Congratulations!
Thank you for doing this! I don't comment on blogs very often. I guess I am a troller(sp) I wanted to thank you for getting me back into embroidery! I just embroidered three old corn seed bags. It was so relaxing to me. Wow! 10 years of sharing your life with us. Again, thank you so much for re-uniting me with my creative side.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna, Happy 10th Anniversary. Love your blog and read it every day. Your is oneof my favorites. Hope you will be blogging for many years. Love hearing about all the projects you are working on for yourself, family and clients. You do beautiful work It is nice to hear about the work you are doing on the farm too. Look forward to Tuesday with Tag fun to hear what he and Bella are up too. Hugs for all of you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for faithfully writing your blog. I so enjoy reading the articles, looking at the photos, being a part of your family with Tag, and of course being inspired. Congratulations on the anniversary!
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
Melody Brady
I love your Sunday Scriptures!
ReplyDeleteFirst, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! And thank you for sticking with blogging. I don’t think it’s a thing of the past. I do think Instagram has made us totally lazy, when we can just click a heart to like something, or flip right by something we don’t want to look at. I still enjoy reading blogs, reading people’s processes, seeing what’s happening in their lives. I have enjoyed watching you create your new home, although I suspect it was really “home” as soon as you started to occupy it. I love reading of your puppy tales, your travels, your stitchery adventures. It’s like traveling to your area without having to leave home, so do please keep it up, and don’t get discouraged when lazy people (like me) don’t take the time to comment. I suspect you have more fans out the than you think!
ReplyDeleteCarole
Really ten years...….I have always enjoyed your blog! Congratulations Donna, you have inspired me so many times over the years. Now I sew every day, and sketching again too, your blog is the only one I continue to follow daily. I enjoy your photos, your recipes, and of course seeing all your sewing creations. Please continue to share Tag, Bella and all your furry friends. Thank you again for being YOU, a talented & inspiring friend...who keeps it real.
ReplyDeleteReading a few blogs are a part of my daily schedule. Though I do subscribe to and read fewer than in the past. Thanks for sharing a little part of your life - family, friends, faith, stitching/sewing, cooking, pets, wildlife, and music. Please let Tag know that I love his ‘Tuesday with Tag’ posts. He was such a cute puppy!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for writing your blog for 10 years!
Janet
I thought I had left a comment but couldn't find it so hope I am not repeating I love, love blogs so congratulations. I cannot imagine all the work that goes into sharing your life with us.
ReplyDeleteI, also, wanted to thank you for your embroidery work. I hunted up some things I never finished and now have completed three projects and on a small crewel of birds.
I forgot how much I like doing it. Thanks again, and congrats on your 10th anniversary.
Blogging isn't a thing of the past! Just as you have welcomed me (your readers) into your life throughout the years, I taken you with me where I go as well. Just a few days ago I read your blog in Nevada. Tomorrow evening I will read your daily post from Spokane, WA, 6 hours east of my home. Blogs give people a way to see that there are people all over living interesting and productive lives. Although I have never done needlework, I find what you make interesting and also enjoy your life experiences, whether with friends or family. I look forward to seeing what you've been up to every evening as I head off the bed. Keep up the excellent work!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading blogs. Blogs inspire me for recipes, craft ideas, and reading recommendations.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
I love reading blogs and look forward to reading yours every day. You tell us so much of what you are doing and love all the pictures you share with us too. Love Tuesday with Tag and how he shares all that he and Bella are doing. Always brings a smile to my face.
ReplyDeleteHappy 10th Anniversary and hugs for all of you
Hi Donna, I love reading blogs as I don't do Facebook or those other social media platforms. I want to read people's thought processes, why they did something that way and not another way. I enjoy your blog daily. Happy anniversary and many more to come!!
ReplyDeleteTHE GIVEAWAY DRAWING IS NOW CLOSED.
ReplyDeleteThank you to all who entered.
Be sure to read the post on March 30, 2019 for the winners' list!
Blessings,
Donna
