Weekend Canning...

Fifteen more jars of Zucchini Pepper Relish for the pantry. That's what Handsome and I did yesterday. The day began a little cool, but by the time we finished these jars we were ready to hit the showers again. It got hot - inside and outside!

Just about the time we were finishing our project - and were ready to sit down to dinner - the weather had dropped about twenty degrees. We had a very comfortable breeze coming in the window, and I told Handsome I thought the timing was about five hours off. We could have used the breeze through the kitchen while the canner was bubbling away to preserve our relish. Oh, well.

I won't be canning today. I have a special project I want to start, and it's going to require a little research, planning, and drawing out. I'll tell you a little more about it on Wednesday.

What did you do over the weekend? Did you spend it inside or outside? How was the weather in your neck of the woods? Come on. Talk to me, now.

    1. Hi Marilyn:
Thanks! I love seeing them all lined up like little soldiers in the pantry. It's comforting to know the shelves will be stocked for winter. I'll tell you all about my idea soon.

    1. Hi Bonnie:
It didn't start out hot here yesterday, but I was a hot mess by the end of the day! lol Today was much cooler. Long sleeve weather! I don't even want to think about how quickly this summer is passing. Hope it was better for you today, too.

  3. You must have such a sense of accomplishment when you see all those jars! We're waiting for a cooler day (hopefully tomorrow) to make tomato jam but there won't be nearly as many jars of that.
Weekend - spent it mostly indoors because the heat finally came. Only went out in the evening to sit on the balcony.

    1. Hi MA:
I've made smoky tomato jam that I use for an occasional bbq sauce. I haven't made tomato jam since Handsome and I were first married. Yum! I hope it was more comfortable for you today, too. I sat on the porch after finishing all those jars, just to cool off. It was steamy/hot in the farmhouse by the time we were done...and I was done in!

  4. Well, I surely don't have as much to show for my weekend as you! (-; Here in eastern PA, the weekend was hot, hot, hot, and oh, so terribly HUMID! But, still need to make the most of these days while looking forward to the cooler days of fall...

    1. Hi Lois:
I've been hearing about the near-intolerable heat out there. My BIL lives in Maine, and it's been hot there, too. I'm glad it's not that bad here. Lugging the window air conditioners out is getting harder and harder. And considering we've only used them a few days all season, it doesn't seem worth the gargantuan effort it takes us to accomplish it. We've got all the ceiling fans going, and I try to do the baking and canning on cooler days. I was caught flat-footed yesterday because it got hotter than expected in the afternoon. Baking is next, as soon as I know it will stay cool. Otherwise, I'm just gonna sit around and try not to perspire. lol
