Treasures From Far Away...

All these luscious seam bindings arrived in the mail yesterday - all the way from the Netherlands! Every single, silky color is so lovely. I use them in my ribbon embroideries, so they're going to become beautiful ruched trims and satiny blossoms. Yards and yards of scruptious, glorious, fabulous bindings.

Oh! I'm so sorry. I guess I'm getting carried away. I'll put them away for now, but I promise I'll show you what I create with them, as always!
The second envelope I opened was from Australia, and I recognized the name and return address right away! Another treasure from far away. My friend, Margaret Lewis, created a new ATC for me. This one is called "Sunset". Her fabulous work really takes my breath away! Handpainted backgrounds and embroidered trees. sigh Thank you, sweet Margaret. I'm so tickled to own another of your beautiful works of art.
I also finished the Butterfly Baby quilt yesterday. I'll photograph it in daylight today and then share it with you in my next post. I'm really happy with how it turned out and am anxious to debut it for you!
Thank you for all the kind comments about my Banana Nut Bread recipe yesterday. I appreciate all your kind comments. I did get a couple of requests on how I make my own vanilla extract, so I'll be doing a tutorial for you in the near future. Thanks for asking!
Until tomorrow, then.

  3. Hi sweet lady,

That seam binding looks so lovely, is it vintage? The colors are amazing, rich yet soothing. I've been dying to try stitchery with silk ribbon, I absolutely love the look, and having seen examples in some of the museums in London.....I just gotta' try it before I leave this earth. Have you possibly got anything for sale, on a small scale, with some of your work that I might purchase? I'm one of those that needs to see the example in front of me to work off of. I can't just be told how or look at a book, I need to see the actual piece in front of me because I learn by copying. I'm an excellent copier.....just call me xerox!!! With the item in front of me, I can figure out immedietly how it's done. So if you have something small that I could afford as an example, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you for sharing your passion with us. You inspire me greatly.

    Love ya'

I have wanted to learn to do ribbon embroidery for a long time. Could you do a tutorial on some of the basic stitches? Or perhaps, create some beginner 'kits' to sell? The silk seam binding is gorgeous ~ would you be willing to tell us how we could procure some of these delight? I am asking alot, I know. I hope I am not stepping over the boundaries with all my questions ~ your work is just so inspiring!
I can hardly wait to see what you create with these pretties!
    Blessings!

  9. I never would have guessed that seam bindings came in so many shades.
The ATC is incredible. Detail, yet so light. Deserves framing.
