Tuesdays With Tag - She Gave Me No Choice...

Brynwood Needleworks - Tag @ The Vet

 Hi, Everybody!

Well, I'd like to say that last week was a peaches and cream, but I'd be lyin' for sure. Not too long ago, I ran out a patio door at Mom's sister's house, and didn't realize there was a step. I fell on my face, came up yippin', and felt somethin' give in my shoulder.

I held up my paw - and I'm not gonna say I was cryin', 'cuz that's for sissies - but I was a little vocal because of the discomfort. Mom came runnin' out, scooped me up, and rubbed on the leg I was holdin' up, hopin' to make it feel better. I quickly sucked it up and ran around with the resident dog, Summer, but I was feelin' it the next day.

Needless to say, since then, if I run too hard with the Black Dog, I aggravate whatever I did to my leg. Last week, it was especially bad, so Dad called the vet he's takin' Boo to now, and made an appointment for me to go in for a checkup.

The place they took me to is called Compassionate Care Veterinary Clinic in Elkhart Lake, WI, not really too far from home. I was happy to see girls at the front desk when I walked in! If there are girls, I'm all in. wink

Mom and I were escorted into an exam room, and I was placed on the nice, rubber mat on the counter. I was content to hang out here until my new doctor, Dr. Prellwitz, came into the room. There would have been pictures of us, except that Mom was lyin' down on the job and didn't take any. You'd think she'd know by now. sheesh

Well, I really like this vet. Of course, he's not Dr. Stephanie, but she's 1500 miles away, and a little inconvenient for stuff like this. Dr. P is friendly and attentive. He got right to it, and did some creative manipulatin' and proddin', and knew he was right when I yipped. Man! He could have just asked, and I would have been happy to tell him where it hurt. He diagnosed me with a pulled tendon in my right leg and over my shoulder.

He and Mom talked about a course of treatment involvin' rest and medicine. That means I can't chase around in the yard for at least two weeks. Seriously? How am I supposed to do that? Mom is gonna have to keep me on a leash, I guess.

Then, Dr. Prellwitz checked a goopy eye that's been botherin' me. He said there were no foreign objects, and I probably just have a little infection, so I got an eye gel medicine, too. That's real fun. It's easy to put in and I'm a great patient for that process, but everythin' is blurry for a while after Mom puts it in my eye. Blinkin' doesn't help much either.

Brynwood Needleworks - Who's Behind That Door?

He left us alone in the exam room and said he'd be back with the medicines, so I just waited like a good boy. I could hear lots of voices on the other side of the door, so I was a little curious about that.

When the door opened, it wasn't Dr. Prellwitz. It was his sweet assistant, Miss Alisa. She's really nice, and was ever so gentle with me. She even used to have Corgis!
She showed me the gel medicine, and then put some in my eye. I was a good boy for her, and I was rewarded with a little treat. I showed her how I give a paw, too.
So, we left with some medicine for my leg to help any swellin' go down. I was thankin' my lucky stars that I don't need crutches! Can you even imagine? hee hee
Mom's had me on this regimen all weekend: no runnin', medicines once a day, outside on a leash, and if I get too rowdy in the house - kennel confinement. That's not punishment, though, 'cuz I like my little bachelor pad. It's workin' out pretty well. I'll be fit as a fiddle in no time.
So, there you have it. My week in a nutshell. Nothin' to worry about. I'll be fine, but if you wanna feel sorry for me and send treats, I won't turn 'em down, you know. I've gotta run go. Sittin' around is hard work.

I'll see you again in seven, 'til then...
