More Thread Catchers...

Brynwood Needleworks - Thread Catchers

I was sewing thread catchers again yesterday.
These will be gifts, on their way to new homes in today's mail.

Brynwood Needleworks - Thread Catchers

They're all wool on the exterior, with flannel on the interior. I used vintage buttons to embellish these. There will definitely be more of these in the future, but next up are some Brynwood Nocturne travel bags, Ensemble hobo bags, and a few Bryn wallets. It's so nice to be back in the studio!

Sale Week...

Brynwood Needleworks - BW Traveler Set - Nocturne Traveler and Bryn Convertible Crossbody Wallet

You know I don't shop on Black Friday, and my Birthday is next week, so it's time to celebrate! I'm going to have a sale in my shop.

From Friday, November 29th through next Saturday, December 7th, use Coupon Code - BIRTHDAY15 to save 15% on anything in my shop ($35 minimum purchase). Many of the listings also offer Free Shipping. You can combine fabric purchases to reach the discount, and all my newest bags and wallets are available for your Christmas shopping.

I'm going to be working on a few orders today, but I'm definitely staying home. It's snowing again, and I have things to do indoors. I'll be outside with the dogs, as needed, but I'll also be making sure the birds and our opossums have plenty of food to nourish them, too.

So, it's official (thanks to you, Sherry E.). My Birthday celebrating has begun. I think I may have a giveaway this week, too! You'll have to come back to see...

Family Always Comes First...

Brynwood Needleworks - Kaffe Fasset Fabric Interior - Bryn Clutch Wallet

I've completed a nice stock of wallets for the show next weekend, so it's time for me to work on the larger handbags and totes. Before I do, though, I just had to share this interior I chose for a wallet I created in natural and gold fleck cork. I really love the wild pop of color the future owner will see every time they open it!

Brynwood Needleworks - Ensemble and Nocturne Bags

While I won't be using the exact same fabric, I will be making some of these bags for my booth. These are the ones I'll be cutting out and sewing over this weekend.

I'm starting today (early!!) with a trip to the vet so Bella can get her vaccinations. Handsome has appointments this afternoon - and a bum knee - so I'll be driving to make life a little easier for him. If I don't get much else done, I'll get my parts and pieces cut out and ready to assemble. I have all weekend to sew, and you know, family always comes first. See you tomorrow!

Okay - Just A Peek...

Brynwood Needleworks - Bryn Wallets

I haven't decided whether or not any of these will be crossbody wallets, or regular clutch wallets. I've got these six (plus one not photographed) finished, except for securing the side compartments. I'll do that step once all the wallets are complete. I just couldn't wait to share theis batch with you!

All of them have cork in their construction, and will be going into my booth in Kewaskum on the 24th, along with all the other goodies I'm busy creating.

I'll be working on another batch of wallets today, and then I'll be moving on to handbags tomorrow. Of course, coffee first. I plan to be in the studio all day - except when I wander out for sustenance. Great way to spend Hump Day, don't you think?

Working On Wallets...

Brynwood Needleworks - Bryn Wallet Parts

I spent yesterday choosing fabrics, cutting and preparing parts to make new Bryn wallets. Most are cork fabric, but more than a few are all cotton fabric, too. Choosing fabrics is always a fun part of the process.

Brynwood Needleworks - Wallet Parts

I'll keep preparing today, and perhaps even begin sewing this afternoon. I'll have at least fifteen wallets when I'm finished with this group, so there will be a real variety of choices for the show.

Destiny does my embroideries on these pieces, while Jane and I are busy sewing the wallets together. The three of us will have fun working in the studio...especially since it's not going to be particularly warm this weekend. Tag and Bella take turns hanging out with me, too, so that's a bonus.

Off to play. See you later!

The Latest From My Studio...

Brynwood Needleworks - Vinage Hibiscus/Natural & Vintage Hibiscus "Bryn" Wallets

It was a day of accomplishment. I completed two new Bryn Wallets for my shop, and I'm loving this style. The top one is Vintage Hibiscus/Natural cork fabric, and the bottom one is all Vintage Hibiscus.

This fabric is no longer available, so when I use up the last of my stock of this fabric, it will be gone for good. I can't get any more of it, so my current stock is precious to me.

I like the flip locks on these wallets. They're sleek and low profile. I'll be using more of these in the future.

Brynwood Needleworks - "Bryn" Wallet Interiors

Inside you'll find twelve credit card slots; a zippered coin section; two interior pockets; and a compartment, held closed by a snap-closure security tab. These are currently wallets, but I can make them crossbody bags if the customer prefers that. You can choose from a cork or chain crossbody strap for an additional cost.

These will be listed in my online shop (along with the three I completed earlier in the week) tomorrow. You may use the Christmas In July discount to purchase them, too!

Brynwood Needleworks - BW Shop Hop Crossbody Bag - Royal Purple Cork Fabric - Front

I also created this luscious royal purple cork fabric Shop Hop Crossbody Bag. It'll be on its way to its new owner today.

Brynwood Needleworks - BW Shop Hop Crossbody Bag - Royal Purple Cork Fabric - Back

I've added a slip pocket to the back of this one, and will probably be adding it to each one I create in the future.

There is also a pattern available for this bag, should you wish to make your own. That's already listed up and available in my shop.

It's been really hot here, and it's currently raining and blowing outside. I think I'll stay indoors today. I always have studio projects, and when I tire of sitting at the machines, I can always put my feet up and stitch. Either way, it's going to be a lovely day - indoors.

Call Me A Prepper...

Brynwood Needleworks - New Bryn Crossbody Wallets Preparation

Just sharing a peek of things to come. I've been a busy bee, setting up all the components to make all new Bryn Crossbody Wallets for the shop.

Brynwood Needleworks - Just a Sample of Wallets To Come
I've got these five ready to sew, with at least five others on deck. The most difficult part for me is the cutting out, stabilizing, and preparing all the components, so when it's time, all I have to do is grab everything for each wallet and sew it together.
Even when I regularly sewed new garments for myself every week, I really disliked the pattern cutting. I guess some things never change. I love choosing the fabric colors for the exteriors and linings, and I have great fun sewing it all together, but man, how I dislike cutting out the fabrics. Measure twice, cut once - over and over and over. I'm always happy when that part is done.

Sewing today, but I won't show these again until they're finished and ready to list. Might be tomorrow. Might be Monday. (I still have cutting to do.) I promise, they'll be cool when they're done...and I've got some new colors to share, too!
I hope you have a great weekend. We've got a Birthday party at the lake on Sunday. I can't wait!

I've Got Lots To Do...

Brynwood Needleworks - Batik and Black Cork Fabrics

I have a custom order on deck next. I'll be making two different bags using this batik/cork fabric combination. I'm also making one of my new Shop Hop Crossbody Bags, for the same client, in cork with a lighthouse design on it.

Brynwood Needleworks - A Sampling of New Wallets

When that order is complete, I'll be adding new Bryn Crossbody Wallets to my shop. I'm also going to make them in a slightly different style with a chain crossbody strap option. I'll show you all those when they're finished, but I have that custom order up first.

I'm also going to be making a number of Shop Hop Crossbody Bags for my shop, too. All of these will be listed and available next week, but I'll show them to you here first.

If you're interested in making your own Farmhouse Chickens Pincushions, Convertible Market Tote, or the Shop Hop Crossbody Bag, the patterns are all listed in my online shop now. (Click HERE to go window shopping.)

GREAT NEWS!! My email server is finally back up and running properly, and I'm receiving my emails again. Apologies if I haven't responded to a recent message. I ask that you resend if you need to reach me.

We've got people coming today to help move all the rest of the firewood out of our basement. (Seems unnecessary that it be there since we removed the wood burner last fall.) We have plenty in the wood shed already for our backyard firepit, so this wood is going with the people who are helping us get it out.

I'm pretty excited about this, because our old cistern is currently filled to the brim with wood, and I have another idea in mind for that space. Once it's all cleared of the wood, I'll be giving it a good cleaning and paint; we'll add shelves, and it will become my canning storage area. All my canning supplies will go on one side, and all the canned goods will go on another. We'll only keep some of what I can in the pantry, and the rest will be downstairs.

First things first. Wood will be on its way today, while I'll be in the studio working on my commission projects. Then I can think about what's next...like the weekend!! Make it a great one!

Completed Commissions...

Brynwood Needleworks "Bryn" Crossbody Wallets

I just have to add rivets and these three Bryns will be complete! Two are gifts, and one is for the giver. They'll be hand delivered in the next day or so.

Today, I'm running to the grocery store to pick up a few items, and then I'm coming home to bake cookies for the Holiday Cookie Exchange at my niece's home this weekend. I've decided on my cookie, and will be making six dozen of them. I'll be sure to take pictures before they head to the party. Gotta run. My mixer and the oven await!

Kirby's Little Sister Prototype...

Mini Kirby Prototype

I got back to working on the Bryn Crossbody Wallets today, but not before I completed a prototype for a smaller version of my Kirby Crossbody Bag. This one is going to be a Birthday gift for one of my little sisters who loves purple, and I'm sure she'll like this one.

Kirby and New Prototype - Side by Side Comparison

This is a side-by-side comparison of the Kirby Bag and the new bag, with only one front zipper compartment. I love it, but it's not quite what I had in mind.

Showing Final Size Preference

The red line on this image is where I want the final bag bottom to be. I'm not going to modify this one, but I've changed the measurements on my notes. I'll make another after I complete the wallets today. I'll show those to you tomorrow. By the way...Don't you love the purple cork? I sure do!

I'm In The Studio...

Cork and Fabric

Yesterday was spent measuring (twice), cutting (once) and embroidering, as I prepared to make custom Bryn wallets for a client (along with a few for my shop). I'm also making another special bag (as a gift for one of my sisters), that I'll eventually have in the shop. It's my tester before I go into production.

So, I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I need to finish these today. Cookies are waiting to be made (6 dozen!) for my niece's cookie exchange on Sunday, and I want to leave myself plenty of time for whatever I finally decide to make.

It's cold outside, so it's perfect weather to get busy in the studio. I'll be back tomorrow with photos of my finished projects.

So Far, So Good...

Current Stock for Show

I'm giving myself one more sewing day, and then I'll be working on signage and display for Sunday. I'm doing pretty well. I've got a few Bryn wallets to make, and a few in a new style that I'm calling the "Kyra Clutch". Then, I'll call it done for this show.

Oops

I was tripping along in fine form yesterday, and then this happened. The piece I was supposed to sew to the front (on the left side), is still sitting on my sewing table in this picture. The back for another bag got sewn to the wrong front. sigh That meant a little un-sewing was necessary. A slight setback. Sharing to "keep it real".

Handsome's brother is here until Saturday, so I'll be working great guns to finish up the last of my sewing before he leaves. Then, I'll do a mockup display in the dining room so I'm sure what my area will look like at the show. I'm planning to get a lot more accomplished today. Monday will be my day of rest. Gotta run. Have a great day!

It's A Sewing Week...

Brynwood Cork Fabric Selection

It's going to be a busy week in the studio. I'm going to be sewing cork projects for my shop. These are the current cork fabrics I'll be using to make Kirby Crossbody Bags, Bryn Crossbody Wallets, Grab & Go Clutches and Crossbody Bags, luggage tags, and a few other smalls. (I have a natural/navy paisley print, too. Hmmm. Not sure how I missed that for the picture!)

If you've been thinking about a bag for yourself or as a gift, please let me know. I'm happy to work with you to create a custom piece to your taste.

We're supposed to get some rain, ice and snow over the next day or so, so the best place for me to be is in the studio. I'll be showing you more on Wednesday. Tag will be back tomorrow. Gotta run!

Another Finish...

Burgundy Cork Brynwood "Bryn" Wallet

I finished this Bryn wallet and key fob Monday. My client chose burgundy cork with a canvas interior as a gift for his mom.

Burgundy Cork Brynwood "Bryn" Wallet Interior - Canvas and Cork

This is actually a cute story. My customer came to the farm to fix our internet service. The service connections are all in my sewing studio. I was working on the "Corgi On" Tote while he was working on our service.

He asked about what I was doing and when I explained, he wanted to see more. I showed him wallets, kit bags, and he immediately wanted a wallet. I then showed him the cork fabric choices, and this is what he settled on. He paid for it and finished up his work before leaving.

This one shipped yesterday, and he should have it within the next day or so. I think it was a great end to a service call. If only they were all like this!

"Corgi On" Winging To Germany...

Corgi Tote Detail

Have I told you that this tote is my own design? Yup. You should see my notes. There aren't templates...just a few handwritten notes with measurements. The rest I do on the fly. I must have it down now because I always get consistent results. (I know. I sound surprised, don't I? lol)

Brynwood Needleworks' Corgi On Tote

This one is shipping to Germany today! One of my corgi friends on Facebook contacted me because she wanted one, and I was happy to oblige. I've added her monogram inside, too.

My next commission is for a Bryn Wallet in burgundy cork. It'll be under my needle today. Jane's going to be a busy girl! Don't you think it's a great way to spend a sub-zero day?

A New Name...

Brynwood Needleworks "Bryn Crossbody Wallet"

This custom order is finished and ready to ship. Four crossbody wallets ready to go to their new homes. I made three in the Hibiscus cork fabric and three in the Orchid cork fabric. (One of each pattern will go into the shop later today.)

These have a little "headroom" between the flap and the main body of the wallet so you can actually put a little more inside without the wallet getting too tight. I was also able to put my iPhone 6 Plus (with an Otter case) inside this size.

Brynwood Needleworks "Bryn Crossbody Wallet" (Shoulder and Wrist Straps Included)

I've renamed this crossbody wallet. I've decided that our Labrador and Golden retriever girls will be the names for this wallet, and all my new designs from now on. That being said, these are now called my "Bryn Crossbody Wallet".

Brynwood Needleworks "Bryn Crossbody Wallet" Interior

It's going to be fun as I debut new pieces with more names of my girls...Bryn, Kyra, Kes, Kirby, Samantha Rose, Matty (Mata Hari), Bee and Bella. The Grab & Go Crossbody and Wristlets will keep their current names.

Brynwood Needleworks "Bryn Crossbody Wallet" Back

These six are finished, and my new lining fabrics arrived yesterday. That means I'll get them cut out today and finish prepping to complete the other nine.

I have a few other projects I'm going to be working on, too. I'm so inspired here at the farm, and I can't wait to share what's next.
