French Charcoal...

Brynwood Needleworks - Farmhouse Chocolate Chip Cookies

I promised Handsome I'd bake yesterday. I made eight dozen of my Farmhouse Chocolate Chip Cookies. I was informed that we were out of bread, so I added that to my list. Once the first trays of chocolate cookies went into the oven, I started mixing the bread. I was making French bread, but in loaf pans.

Brynwood Needleworks - Future Bread Pudding, Perhaps?

Everything was going so well, I was actually patting myself on the back. The cookies all baked up perfectly, and I could turn my full attention to the French bread I was making.

The dough was formed into loaves, put into pans, and put into the oven, as directed. That's when I got sidetracked. I was talking with my BFF Lee on the phone and completely lost track of my bread. I'd set the timer, so I figured that when I got to 45 minutes the timer would remind me to take the loaves out.

What I hadn't planned for was that my loaves would (unusually) finish ahead of time. Handsome came out onto the porch and asked me if I'd checked the bread. I went in to find my bread overdone burned and ruined. No way this bread will be used for sandwiches, but the insides are perfect. It's the outsides that are completely inedible. Maybe I can salvage the insides for bread pudding or an egg bake?

Nothing like French Charcoal to bring someone back down to earth. I'm sure it will come as no surprise that I'll be baking again today. I think I'll make sandwich bread this time...and I'll definitely be staying in the kitchen while it bakes this time!

    1. Hi Catherine:
I'm definitely leaning toward bread pudding! I found a recipe that I'd really like to try for a caramel-type pudding. Could be interesting!

    1. Hi Marilyn:
Steve gave the cookies his seal of approval. lol Yeah. Burned bread was a bummer, but I'm glad I have options so it's not a total loss.
Thanks, always, for your notes. I really appreciate them.

  4. Well, that means you burned out all the calories, Right? Bread pudding sounds great, and the birds will eat the rest.

  5. So sad about the bread, but the cookies look delicious! I received my pincushion in the mail today and I just totally love it. It gets to just sit for now, so lovely I hate to put a pin in it. Thank you! And so well wrapped, I'm leaving it in its' plastic bag for now until woodburning season is over--so dusty.
