October Cutout Cookies |
I managed to bake and decorate the cutout cookies yesterday. Thing is, I substituted an icing ingredient and it's not hardening up as it should. The cookies would be a disaster by the time I'd get them to our monthly dinner.
Soooo, after work today, I'll make another few dozen cookies and use my tried and true frosting recipe. They'll be ready to go with me tomorrow. Some days it just doesn't go by the book. Lesson learned.
On the bright side, my Handsome Cookie Monster is quite happy to take care of the ones I won't be taking to our Wednesday dinner.
I'm sorry they didn't turn out as expected.
ReplyDeleteYes, we need to follow tried & true recipes, the best.

Hi Marilyn:
DeleteDo it right or do it twice, right? I should know better.

Oh no - that's not what you want to have happen! The cookies are cute though and I'm sure Handsome is more than happy to help out the cause.
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteYou're so right. I'd hoped to get it all done with time to spare. Now I'm up against a deadline. Again. I should know better. Next time.

Always good to have a backup plan! - Take care, Kathy

Sherry of createology: Oops…they do look really yummy though. I know what happens to soft frosting…I was bringing two cupcakes home from a gathering and put them in the cup holders where they fit perfectly. Once home and trying to get them out they were doing flips and summersaults. Sadly to say I had a terrible gooey mess to clean up! Lessen learned!
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry:
DeleteThey are good. I put them in the fridge to harden up, so they'll hang out there until they're eaten. Just not up to par to share outside the house. I'll do those Wednesday morning. Frozen butter kept me from doing them tonight. sigh That's quite the story, my friend! To be a fly on the seat next to you!

These look delicious.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi:
DeleteThanks! They are, but the icing didn't harden up enough to stack them into a box to take to the restaurant. I would have a stuck-together stack. ugh
