I traced around my bird drawing with a darker marker so I'd be able to see my lines once I set up my fabric. I'm still going to move my flying bird up and toward the right. If I want to keep the images tight - as I have on the previous two wall hangings - I'll need to reduce the stitching area. Once I have the babies and adult situated, then I can choose exactly what the placement for that flyer will be.
You'll notice I've got my musical background fabric out and ready to go. I'm really glad I purchased more than a few yards when I saw it. Thankfully, it means I'll have plenty of fabric for my bird series embroideries.
In case you have questions about my light source, here's what I purchased prior to my cardinal piece, and it's served me well already.
HERE'S a non-affiliate link to the USB connected mini lightbox. (Click on the bold "Here's" to see more). It's actually on sale right now, so you could snag it for less than $15, and it's really a little workhorse. It connects by USB to your computer or a small backup battery (that's what I use), so you need not fret over spent batteries.
I'll be back tomorrow with it hooped and ready to stitch. For now, it's off to the clinic so Handsome can get his PT workout in for the next couple days. Getting closer by the day!
Looks like it's coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool lightbox.
Positive thoughts for Handsome.

Hi Marilyn:
DeleteLittle by little. I like the light box, and it's smaller than a standard letter-size piece of paper. It's also lightweight (and inexpensive!). Handsome had a really great PT appointment. He's getting better by the day, and his PT can measure his progress, which is helpful. Thanks so much, dear.

Curious to know how you transfer the design onto the fabric? There's a lot of detail so just wondering how you go about it.
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteI wrote a post for tomorrow especially to answer your question. I hope it helps. Thanks for asking.

Sherry of createology:: Oh how I do like your drawing and the sweet Bluebirds subject matter. I have a large light box like this and my daughter just gifted me a medium and small version to work with for my watercolors. I cannot draw so tracing is my best way. Yay to Handsome for doing PT.
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry:
DeleteThanks, girlfriend! I have a larger lightbox that technically belongs to Handsome from his photography days, but I've "acquired" it. The bulbs are burned out, so they have to be changed. I asked him about it today, and we actually have replacements which I'll switch out tomorrow. It's a nice desktop model which is much larger. I used it all the time until the bulbs burned out - not realizing we had replacements on hand. sigh Next time. Handsome is doing really well in PT, and although he's scheduled through October, he may not need to keep all the appointments at this rate. Fingers crossed.
