It Was A Dress-Making Kind Of Day...

I made a couple more dresses for our Dress A Girl Around The World project yesterday. This one in soft lavender with tiny purple, aqua and pink flowers
Then, I added a little flower-shaped pocket with a turned down edge. Now, there's a place for treasures or a little dolly.
The second one I made was in rubber ducky fabric. Each little duck has an umbrella, so I drew my own umbrella applique' in purple fabric (that matches the binding and straps), and pink fabric. There's also a satin stitched "handle"  that goes right in to the pocket. That makes four finished dresses for me - so far.
Our mailman, Curt delivered a box from Marcy R., too. Ten more dresses to go with the rest. You won't even be able to handle how adorable her dresses are. Handsome and I giggled each time I held up another one to show him!

Marcy said she's going to continue making dresses for our (first) deadline on August 15th. I say "first" because  we may very well decide to turn Brynwood Needleworks into a satellite for Dress A Girl. If so, we'll probably have four project dates in a twelve month period. I'm still thinking on that.

Thanks again, Marcy for your gorgeous, girly dresses! I just know that there are going to be some very happy little girls when they see these!

By the way...So far, I have twenty three dresses in hand, with more being created all over the country by other talented people. We're going to do a photo shoot over the weekend of this first batch of twenty three, so you can see just how wonderful they are. I'll share the pictures with you next week.

Happy Saturday! Make it a great one.

  2. Donna I am setting aside the time to check out the details as I do love to sew and have oodles of fabric. Will this be an ongoing project that I can jump into anytime or is there a deadline? I LOVE the little dresses you have made so far they are adorable! Have a super weekend and love to all the fur babies!

  4. Donna, I think that's a great idea! Having this dress-making to be an ongoing thing. I know that once things settle down here, that I would make a dress or two every once in awhile. They're so easy and don't take long to make and one can add so many little things to make them special! Loving the touches you added to your little dresses! xo

  5. Such Sweet little dresses! I am so loving this project. I am happy to hear you may have an ongoing set of dates as my machine might be repaired for the next deadline. I plan on continuing to sew these dresses because I know the needs are great around our world. Bless everyone who is sewing. High on Life July...

  6. Enjoyed sewing dresses again today! Every time I think of the little girls who don't have even one dress, I'm inspired to make another with scraps & buttons and a little trim just waiting to be used. I sincerely do hope this effort of combined sewers will continue. Please count on me! Thank you Donna so very much for bringing us together to sew, Your little duck print & umbrella is also adorable!! Love it. Many blessings to all, Marcy
