Getting There (I'm Through The Woods)...

Unexpected appointments and commitments have kept me from spending
my usual time in the studio, but I have been stitching and sewing when able.

Yesterday, I managed to assemble the blocks, panels and sashing for my
Over The River quilt. Today, I'll finish the flying geese border from the pattern.
If you have the original pattern for this quilt, you know that it doesn't show
an applique' panel. That element is my own design and creation from start
to finish. I've added elements that are part of my memories of those
childhood trips to my grandparent's central Wisconsin house for holidays.

Additionally, I'm adding one more border outside the flying geese border.
I want my quilt to be just a little larger than the 51 1/2" x 57 1/2" size as
designed. The additional border will measure 6", adding 12" to the length
and width of my quilt. Mine will finish out at 63 1/2" x 69 1/2". Nice size.

Once my border is attached, I'm going to add more applique' to that border.
Then it will be ready to send out for custom quilting. I'm so anxious to see
it complete, and I hope you are, too.

  2. This quilt is beautiful yet even more special with your custom panel of memories. You are truly being creative. I understand the time away from studio with appointments and such. That has been my week also. Happy Creative Stitching Dear...
