Lost Weekend...

 

This was all I accomplished last weekend. I prepped all the flaps to make wallets, and then I went to bed where I stayed all weekend. Handsome and I both have some sort of creeping crud, and we both feel awful. 

He brought tea and a sweet roll up to me (I think on Saturday) and I couldn't even touch them. I drank a bit of the tea and then turned over and went back to sleep. I'm feeling a bit better today, but I have no energy whatsoever. I'll eat something a bit later, but we have to get the dogs out and give them their breakfast. I'll see what I feel like after that.

Tag and I are going to take a few days off until I'm back to normal. Sorry I'm not my usual productive self. I'll see you in a few.

Shipping Today...

 

I created a new Bryn Wallet in the Nature Girl Series - Deer and Rabbit - over the weekend. Well, actually, I made it yesterday. I have one in the shop in natural cork like this, but my client wanted navy. So, navy she'll have.

Rather than attach my usual Brynwood badges to the wallets as I do on my handbags, I like to machine embroider my "Brynwood"  onto the back of each wallet. That way, nothing is sticking out on the back to catch on things inside a handbag.

I chose a lovely grey/blue canvas fabric for the interior lining, with the credit card pockets a nice, sturdy cork fabric. This one is sold and is in the mail this morning...but I do have one left with the same flap, but natural cork for the body. You can find it in my Etsy shop HERE.

I'll be getting back to my Goldwork Frogs and Autumn Strawberry Sachet this week. As I'll take each stitch, I count all my blessings this Thanksgiving Week. Are you going to be with friends or family on "turkey day"? Are you traveling? I'll tell you my plans, if you tell me yours.

Rose Blossom Embroidery For Strawberry Sachet

Sitting for hours on end, executing tiny, petit point stitches was starting to cross my eyes. I think I need to slip other projects in and take a break from the needlepoint project so I don't completely lose interest in completing it. Working on side projects is a good thing.

I turned to a commission project that shows results more quickly than working petit point. I'm embroidering a new strawberry sachet with ruffled roses and blossoms. I'll complete this one very soon.

Brynwood "Bryn" Wallets For The Show

 

Well, these are all finished and ready to go to my booth at the show next weekend. Today, I'll be working on Nocturne Overnight Bags.

I think that will be enough to adequately populate my booth, and give shoppers a nice selection. The hickory syrup should be a nice add-on sale, too. I expect I'll sell out of that, for sure. Some of these will be pulled from my Etsy shop (which I'll close for the weekend).

Well, friend. I know you know the drill. Feed the dogs and cats (Handsome had an appointment first thing this morning.) Morning coffee. Then, hi ho, hi ho. It's off to the studio I go! (I'll keep working this weekend.)

Making More Wallets...

BW "Bryn" Wallets - Nature Girl Series

I'm making a few more wallets for the show before turning my attention to handbags and overnighters. These are all-cork exteriors with field and woodland animals on the flaps. Featured are deer, rabbits, pheasants, and foxes. I love this print.

I have most of the wallet parts finished, but I still need to assemble the credit card sections. I'll do that this morning, and then I'll do the setting up for a few Nocturne overnight bags. 

I'm trucking right along, friends. I'll keep my head down and maybe even finish the production part ahead of schedule. (laughing a little maniacly) Yeah, right.

Working For The Show...

New "Bryn" Wallets For The Show

 

I've been in the studio creating new items for my booth at the upcoming show. First, I went to the fabric wallets I've had prepared for a long time (there are more!). I'll be making a few more cork wallets, too, when I finish with these.

There are two in Nantucket Red canvas, two Coffee Clutches, and one Milk Money design so far. I'll be adding a few other one-off designs, too.

So, if you're looking for me...Yep. I'll be in my studio.

A Productive Thursday...

BW Embroidered Heart

I stitched into the wee hours yesterday morning, because I was so enjoying this process. I just kept threading my needles. This is a closeup to share the detail. 

The heart was machine-embroidered, but all of my embellishments were added by hand. I even added seed beads to this one, to simulate dew on the leaves.

After I completed the embroideries, I mounted the piece into a wooden embroidery frame. I backed it with a beautiful pink felt. I think my friend is going to like my treatment of the embroidered heart she mailed to me. I'm glad I found it so I could finish and return it to her, even being this late.

BW Bryn Retriever Wallet Using Black Cork

I also made another wallet for my BFF, Lee. I made the first wallet for her was when I was just dipping my toe into wallet/bag making. It was long enough ago to have been "B.C." (Before Cork). I learned a lot since making that first one. Even so, she's still using it and I have to admit, I was surprised at how good hers still looked.

By the time I turned off the lights last night, I'd completed everything except the final pressing and thread trimming. She and her husband raise and train retrievers. Their first Golden was one from our Sammy's litter. They continued her bloodline, and her ancestors are now hunting all these years after our sweet girl passed. They also raise and train Labrador retrievers, but her dogs are usually Goldens.

I like using lighter lining to make it easy to see the contents. I used cotton, along with cork fabric for the interior.

I'm having lunch with my BFF on Sunday, so I'll have this wallet wrapped up and ready to gift to her. I can't wait to see her face!
