Brynwood Needleworks - My "Everlasting" Center In Progress |
I'll be at Kathy D's today. She's hosting Sit & Stitch at her home, and we're all looking forward to it. I spent part of yesterday planning and designing a personalized center for my version of the "Everlasting" quilt. I know that all the flowers and birds need the bees to survive, so it was appropriate to change out the wording in the original design to a skep and bees in my quilt.

Here's my rough rendering. Once I've stitched down the skep, I'll be adding embroidered lavender stems and buds. There will be bees scattered around the central motif, too! When all my stitching is finished, I'll add a bow at the bottom where the mirror-image sprays of lavender meet in the middle.
This is the project I'll work on at Kathy's today. I'm really looking forward to spending a little time with the ladies. It's past due, for sure.
That's going to be a fantastic block.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at Kathy's today.

Hi Marilyn:
DeleteThanks so much! We had a lovely time together. I hadn't seen some of the ladies since last spring. It was nice to see their smiling faces again.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

Perfect!! I'm a huge advocate for the bees so this is exactly right (in my opinion anyway!). Enjoy your time with your friends - there's been precious little of that for the past while.
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie:
DeleteIf you looked at our lawn every spring, you'd know just how much we help the bees. In fact, I think if you look at Tag's post, you may see the plants all over our back yard. We don't cut them until they go to seed, just so the bees will have something to eat when they start flying again. The hives on our neighbor's property overwinter in Florida, traveling like wee snow birds to pollinate the orange groves. I feel we're blessed to have the hives to close to Hickory Hill Farm.
It was such a beautiful day. We really had a nice day.
Thanks!

It’s so nice! But looks difficult.
ReplyDeleteWe have had such long lockdowns here, I really would like to meet friends! But on Sunday I will see my daughter for Mother’s Day and I am very happy.
Dear Catherine:
DeleteYou might be surprised to learn just how simple it is. If you check out the link on tomorrow's post, you might enjoy watching some of the tutorials on Lisa Bongean's YouTube channel. They're informative and fun!
I'm sorry you're still facing lockdowns. Governments have gotten way out of control, taking about our basic freedoms to make some of these choices ourselves. People need fellowship. We're social entities. I hope you're able to see your friends very soon.
xoxo

Donna that block looks fabulous! I just love the bee skep! Have fun at your friends today! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sherri, dear:
DeleteI'm having so much fun stitching these quilts together. Thanks so much for your kind words.

Perfection for the center block amongst all the flowers. Our Daugher-in-Love raises bees and gathers the honey.
