Paper Piecing...

Don't you love shopping your stash? I sure do!

Last fall, I attended a local quilt show and found these sweet, little 2 1/2" Moda
"mini charms". They're little versions of the 5 1/2" charm squares. I picked up
four of them with no project in mind at all. The creamy Moda jelly roll
behind them would be a great contrast so I pulled it to use in this
photograph. I also have another one that also cream-colored, but it has
a variety of prints, which might work, too. I'll decide that later.
You know from checking out my left sidebar that there is a long list
of blogs that I love to visit. One of them is well-known blogger, Jodi
Nelson of Pleasant Home. She sells these diamond-shaped templates
for paper piecing. The light went off when I saw them!
They're the perfect size to use with my mini charms!
I've put all the supplies I'll need into one of my vinyl zip bags, and I now
have a portable project! All I have to do is "grab and go" and work on them
as I have time. I really love  Jodi's project using these templates, and I may
decide to do another small project using brighter colors.
 (She has hexagon pieces, too!)

As it's already June, I need to start thinking about Christmas gifts this year. No
procrastinating this year! I'm thinking table runners, pillows or wall hangings.
I'm still writing my pattern, so I can't show it to you yet. It's been a long time
since I did a pattern this involved, and I forgot just how intense it can be!
(I get tired, too - darn it - so I have to stop to rest. So frustrating!)
I'll continue to work on it through the weekend, and will debut it very soon.

Enjoy your weekend. I'm starting mine by joining the Coffee Club girls.
I've sure missed their smiling faces!

  1. How strange - you have a project using paper piecing and so do I. The first time for over thirty years..... Just needed something to carry around since most of my own quilting uses my machine. I'm just using up my stash.
I look forward to seeing what you do with these, especially the diamond shaped templates.

  2. My you are industrious! All those little paper pieced diamonds will be perfectly lovely when stitched and put together. Try not to be frustrated at getting tired and having to rest. It is a blessing to be able to do so without missing anything too important and I bet Tag likes to nap with you dear...

  4. Thanks for the link Donna.
I love paper piecing but don't like cutting all the paper, this is great.
Thanks for you comment on my blog too.
    Have fun with your diamonds,
    Angela.
