Spare Moments...

I have to smile when I think of how some things come full circle.
When I first learned needlework, I spent more time with embroideries than
anything else. I created many pieces as I learned my stitches, and Mom Grace
taught me the techniques I came to love in our time together in those early days.

Now, nearly forty years later, I find myself doing what I did then...taking
needle in hand and creating a scene on fabric. This is something that brings
me great satisfaction. I find myself ever grateful to my friend, Loreen, for
suggesting that I teach the quilt class that brought me back to this handwork.
Of course, I'd like to stay ahead of my students, but even so, I find myself
gravitating to my homework to stitch whenever I have a spare moment.

Our next session is on March 28th and I can't wait to see how my students are
progressing with their own pieces. In the meantime, I'll continue to work on
my embroidery and blocks as I look forward that next class.

  1. Very pretty embroidery! I've been working on Snow Days for a couple years now - mine is in brown thread. I get it out when I need a portable project. It's easy to take with just one spool of thread!

I wonder how many years it will take me to finish, though! You appear to be moving right along on yours. Teaching a class is very motivating, isn't it? You have to stay ahead of your gung-ho students.

  5. Every stitch you create must transform you right into the scene and the serenity of it. This is very beautiful. How fortunate you are back to your beginnings...
