Grandma Would Be Proud...

I finished my cotton yarn granny square cardigan and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Blogger is being temperamental, so the best photo I can share with you is a small format one. As promised, I'm modeling it just for you! (If I can coax Blogger into accepting a larger size image, I'll sure add it for you.)

Remember, I made this using my grandma's sweater, and a photo of my mum wearing one that Grandma made for her years ago. I think my grandma would be proud that her pieces inspired me to make one of my own. She'd probably ask me what took me so long, though!

If you're interested in how I constructed the cardigan, please let me know. Perhaps I can share the instructions in a separate post if enough of you are interested. It really wasn't difficult at all.

So, please tell me what you think about the cardi and if you'd like me to post a pattern on my "tutes" page for you.

Hope y'all have a fabulous, creative and wonderful week, my friends!

  2. Your sweater is just perfect on you and the two of you are beautiful. I really like the crocheted edging you did around the body and sleeves. Also the collar treatment is just right. In the winter I would tackle making one of these. That is when I like to crochet. Well done my dear...

  3. You're right, Donna, Blogger has been a stinker. I haven't been able to get on to your blog for ages! (Your's is not the only one ~ some I can look at but not comment ~ others just won't load at all! Today is my lucky day!)
Your sweater is beautiful! Yes, I think your Grandma would be proud!
    I would be interested in the tutorial if you think a crocheting newbie could make one. I need real simple directions! :~}
I love the colors you've chosen ~ so soft and light looking.
    Blessings!

  6. Hi Donna, I really like your sweater. It is so cool looking. I have been reading and it has been hit and miss with getting to leave comments. Hope all is well in Florida, We are preparing for the flood which is more man caused then rain in our area. They are letting the water out of the dams to the north of us. Have a great day I am off to work. Your Missouri Friend.

  8. Hi Donna.
What a wonderful picture of you!! You just look great. Course, maybe you look like that everyday, but I especially like this picture.

I'd like to see a tut for this cardi. I think I could put one together easy enough, but of course I would welcome any tips you found useful while you were putting yours together.

I was at the mall Saturday and crochet is everywhere you look. EVERYWHERE. I think this cardi is perfect, especially in cotton.

    Beautifully done!
    xx, Carol

  9. Hi Donna!

Your "granny squares" sweater turned out beautifully & I know your Grandmother is smiling down on you for creating such a special warm hug!

I'd love to know how you did it. I used to crochet years ago & still have my needles & bags of yarn. I never get rid of stuff like that, as I go through spells of creativity. Yes, please DO a tut for us??

I like the airy-ness of it & I can't stand anything tight up around my neck so it would be perfect for fall & spring up here.

    Hugs & thanks for sharing,
    Rett

  22. STUNNING!!!!!! Good job & I am sure your Grandmother's looking down from Heaven just busting her buttons proud! You are such a beautiful soul my friend. Your sweetness shines through your smile! I'm so glad you took the photo with YOU in the sweater instead of just the sweater alone!

Also, thanks for the sweet comments about our "maiden voyage". IT WAS HOT!!! And we still have a few "kinks" to work out. I'll have to send you an email or maybe... someday we could actually chat on the phone. I WOULD LOVE THAT! Have a great week! HUGS!
