My Word For 2018...

Brynwood Needleworks Word For 2018

I looked up this word after I chose it...and it became even more appropriate for me this year. You see, not only does it have to do with tilling the soil to raise and grow crops, but there are other equally fitting meanings for this word.

To its first definition, all of you watched me embrace a previously elusive pursuit last growing season. You were here to witness that not only could I successfully plant, nourish and grow the plants I placed in the ground last year, but I also harvested, canned, shared, and consumed the fruits of my labor. I'm already poring over seed and plant catalogs, planning for next growing season.

The second definition relates to cultivating friendships and family relationships. I'm blessed with friends, old and new, both in Wisconsin and Florida (among other places), and family that motivated our move back to the Badger State.

This year, I'll also focus on cultivating my relationships with those who mean so much to me. I'll remember and celebrate their Birthdays, share their successes, and be there for them during sad times, too. I'll attend their sports events and concerts when we can, and be present in their lives. I want them to know how truly important they are to me.

Finally, the last definition relates to improving, refining and elevating one's mind, talents and skills. While this has always been a personal goal, this year I promise to try something new, and to work harder to better the skills I already possess. In addition, I'm going to plan now to share some of those talents with others.

I'm really looking forward to the next 363 days and what 2018 holds for all of us. I want to complete this year with as much enthusiasm as I have today. I want the next twelve months to be filled with wonderful new stories, happy family events, time with friends, and new experiences.

As a reminder, I've placed this image onto my blog sidebar to keep it front and center on a daily basis. Do you have a word that you'll make your word for 2018? If so, I'd love to know what you've chosen!

I haven't forgotten about the poll to name my sweet piggy print. I'll be back tomorrow with the winner and let you know what I've chosen for a prize.

  3. My word for 2018 is steadfast. I don't want to be a quitter. Quilting, personal life, volunteering are just a sampling of what I have to continue persevering. I am not a quitter, but have to figure how to change things up so I can continue when things get tough.
