Tuesdays With Tag - A Revoltin' Development...

Hi, Everybody!
'scuse my appearance this week. Apparently, I was punched in the eye by an overzealous Labrador puppy.
Mom noticed that my eye was pretty "gunky" on Saturday. (That's a technical term, ya know.) She told me I was gonna have to see Dr. Stephanie first thing yesterday. She wasn't kiddin'. She called their office at the crack o' eight, and forty five minutes later, we were on our way to Sarasota.

Dr. Stephanie put some (more) green goo in my eye to make sure it wasn't sliced open by Bella's right hook. (It wasn't.) So, she said that I should go on special eye drops and saline flushes 'til it was better. I'm gonna have to endure eye drops and saline flushes for ten crummy fun-filled days!!!
I heard Mom and Dad talkin' last night. They're comin' up with a plan to keep Bella away from me for a while. They're also gonna make sure I don't paw at my eyes (which really could cause damage), and threatened promised that if I do, they're gonna put that stoopid, inflatable collar on me so I can't reach my eye. Believe me...I'm not gonna paw at my eyes. I don't want to walk around lookin' like I got stuck in a big, blue donut!

Part of my saline solution flush involved teachin' Bella the finer points of keepin' her head down (for maximum dog paddle efficiency) in our salt water pool. It felt pretty good to be swimmin' around in the salty water - and Bella is startin' to look like a real pro, too. (Thanks to me!) Dad said Mom should make a "swim instructor" badge for me to wear!

Don't worry about Bella Butt. She doesn't even realize she might have hurt me. She's just a puppy and a tich uncoordinated, at that. I'll tell her about it when she grows up. I don't want her to feel bad while she's growin'.

Well, if typin' with no thumbs isn't bad enough...bein' all squinty doesn't help. I'm gonna sign off for this week and see if I can't get Mom to share a little bowl of ice cream with me. It's good to go for the sympathy snack, if you know what I mean.

I'll see you again in seven! 'til then...

  2. Oh, Poor Baby!
We have these mishaps at my house too. Two pups almost the same age...they never stop. I have to keep them away from Junior. It doesn't take much to hurt the old man.

  4. Now that is the saddest story yet. I am so sorry about your eye and do hope some healing energy is found in ice cream...I know it has healing properties for me! Bella Butt I am certain is very sorry and never meant to hurt you...her big brother she has so much fun with. Keep Swimming my Corgi Cutie...

  6. Well poor little Tag, am so sorry you have a very sore eye and am sure your Muma is doing everything possible to help heal the injury caused by Bella. Am pretty sure she didn't mean to hurt you and as you say Bella is just a little over excited in her play with you! Hope you feel a lot better and your eye heals quickly and thinking of you Tag x

  7. Aahh, poor, poor Tag. You have really had a rough couple of weeks. This too shall pass. Bitabit has been getting into all sorts of trouble as she is back on a diet and doesn't like it. She is acting like we are trying to starve her. When we went to St. Paul for Jim's mothers memorial service we had one of Eric's friends watching over all of the animals. Well he ended up overfeeding Bitabit and in one weeks time she gained over a pound. On a 5 1/2 pound dog that is a lot. So now she is back on her pumpkin diet. 2 Tbsp. of dog food 2 Tbsp. of pureed pumpkin. She scrounges around for anything she can find. Hang in there Tag, Bella won't be a puppy forever.
