Tuesdays With Tag - Yummy Treats...

Tag loves company. He made them feel right at home.

 Hi, Everybody!

I had a great week, includin' meetin' Mom and Dad's long-time friends. We hit it off great, and I even let them sit on my sofa! 

When it was time for them to leave, they wanted to take me with them, but I told them I had to stay here or Mom would be sad. I said I'd see them next time we all head up north. We'll stop at their house along the way. They liked that idea a lot.

Brynwood Needleworks Homemade Dog Treats

What I really want to share this week is a recipe Mom made up for treats for Bella and me (mostly me!). Leftover mashed sweet potatoes inspired this recipe.

She tossed those 'taters into a bowl, added unsweetened, natural applesauce and then ground up a bunch of oatmeal. She only ground up a little at a time, addin' it to the mix until the dough was just the right consistency.

She made little, bite-sized balls of dough and put them on a parchment-paper lined cookie sheet. Into the oven at 350º for about 10 minutes so they'd be a little crunchy and then, out to cool.

The Black Dog and I were very interested to see just what they were gonna taste like. We could both smell 'em and had tail-waggin' expectations.

Royalty always had those in the old days. Seems appropriate, don't you think? She loved it. You know what's next, right?

I'm happy to oblige as long as there's a tasty morsel in it for me.

It really was delicious. I actually asked (and got) two more, just to be sure. Mom only made one tray of these last night, but she has rolled out dough waiting in the fridge to make more today.

"Hey, Mom! We're gonna need a bigger cookie jar!"

(giggle. snort.)
