Brynwood Needleworks - BW Needle Minder

I added these beautiful Brynwood Needleworks Needle Minders in my shop today. They began life as promotional pins for my wholesale clients many moons ago. I turned one of them into a needle minder a few months ago, and really like having it attached to my needlework while I'm stitching. It occurred to me that others might like one, too, so I found all the pins I had and transformed them.

I used strong, rare earth magnets, securely attaching one to the back of the logo, and adding a second so they can be secured to needlework in progress without damaging the fabric.

Each needle minder measures approximately 1-1/2" x 3/4/", and is a metal base, with cloisonne' work for the logo. They've already stood the test of time, and the finish is just as beautiful and clear as the first day I got them. The finish won't yellow.

Shared Bounty...

Brynwood Needleworks - Shared Vegetable Harvest

 

A little bit from our tomato plants; lots of tomatoes and peppers from Shelly's garden; and tomatoes, squash, peppers and a huge zucchini (not shown) from my youngest brother's garden. 

 

Handsome and I went to see my little brother, Christian, yesterday and he told me to take what I wanted from his garden because there was more than he could use. He has quite the green thumb!

 

I'm so grateful for Shelly and Christian's generosity. I guess I could learn a lot from them about growing a bountiful harvest. For now, I'll accept their gifts, and enjoy the fruits of their labor. I see a little canning in my future!

 

A Beautiful Chair...

Brynwood Needleworks - Brocade Chair Detail

A beautiful, heirloom chair has now returned to the farmhouse. I received a message from Shelly, asking if I'd be interested in this piece. I responded with an enthusiastic "Yes!".

When Shelly's parents still lived in our farmhouse, this chair did, too. After they moved to a care facility, family members moved some of their family treasures to their own homes. This chair moved to Shelly and Andy's daughter's home until this week, when it was offered to me.

Shelly brought the chair to us on Tuesday, and explained its history to me. This beautiful, well-made chair belonged, first, to Shelly's aunt. It then belonged to her parents, moving to her daughter's home, and now it has returned to the farmhouse, where it will continue to be loved and admired.

 

The fabric on the chair is a beautiful brocade, with a dancing couple surrounded by lovely flowers. It looks very much like needlepoint, although it isn't. The shape of the chair is decidedly feminine, and it's a comfortable sit, too! The wood has carving that adds to its loveliness.

 

I'm so tickled to have this lovely, meaningful chair sitting in a place of honor at Hickory Hill Farm. I'm so grateful to Shelly and her family for so graciously sharing it with us. They can rest assured that it will continue to be well-cared for now - and always.
