Brynwood Needleworks - Five Boxes of Stitchy Goodness |
Not long ago, one of my online friends offered to gift me with linens to use for my current (and ongoing) embroideries. I told her I would be so grateful, and that I would definitely create something special for her in appreciation.
The mail carrier stopped at the farmhouse yesterday and handed me a box from that friend. I said "thank you" and turned for the house, when she stopped me and said there was more. Turns out there were five boxes total. I was stunned.
Brynwood Needleworks - A Box Full of Perle Cotton |
I took the boxes up to my studio and opened them one by one. In addition to multiple boxes of beautiful linen, organza and silk fabrics, I opened this box to find it overflowing with perle cottons. So many balls of threads! Truthfully, I started to cry.

Then I opened this box to find more beautiful threads, and yards and yards of vintage laces. Packed in the bottom of one of the boxes were a stack of needlework books, too. Have I ever told you how much I love needlework books? Oh, yes!
One especially meaningful gift was tucked in with the rest. She has a friend who carves crosses from granite. I'll share that another day, because it's just that special.
I immediately sent a message to my friend to let her know that I'd received her generous gifts. Words can't convey just how much was included in the boxes, nor how I reacted when I saw the bounty she'd sent. I was a puddle of emotion.
I'm looking forward to creating something wonderful for her to express my everlasting gratitude. I've promised to respect her privacy as she'd like to remain anonymous, but God knows just how kind and generous she's been. I'll never be able to adequately express my thanks, but I'll do my best in the coming days and months. I'm truly grateful, thankful and blessed.
WOW! It's the Motherlode of stitching!
ReplyDeleteWhat a very generous person.
Enjoy it all.

Dear Marilyn:
DeleteI is, indeed. And she is, indeed. I'm still tearing up over it all.
Thank you, dear.

Puddle of emotion - I can just imagine! Wow - lucky you. But, even luckier you to have a friend like that. Enjoy your treasures!
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteSeriously, I stood at my cutting table, loaded with all this treasure, and openly wept. I pulled myself together before Handsome came home, and broke out crying all over again when I recounted it all to him. I'm so grateful and moved for the gifts.
I'm looking forward to creating something wonderful for the giver.

Winter is coming and looks like you’re set to create and watch the snow. Can’t wait to see where your creative thoughts go as you use it all. We will be blessed to see that! I am a book nut too. Bet those will be fun reading.
ReplyDeleteDear Charlene:
DeleteWinter has taken on a new perspective this year. I'm so looking forward to tucking into all the fabrics and fibers that were gifted to me. The giver definitely "gets me", and I'm forever grateful to her. I've already sat down for a cursory inspection of the books, and can't wait to delve deeper. Thanks for your note.
Enjoy the upcoming weekend. I sure will!

Your friend is wise and generous to gift you with her wonderful treasures. She knows you will put each item to the perfect use. Bless your dear friend for her anonymous giving. I know you will create something very special for her. I look forward to seeing the hand carved granite cross. Puddles of emotions...Well said.
ReplyDeleteDear Sherry:
DeleteThanks so much for saying so. I was truly speechless. Puddle of emotion is exactly what you envision. It was the best I could come up with to described my reaction.

What a beautiful, thoughtful gift! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sherri:

Happy Weekend, girlfriend.

Looks like a stitcher who can't stitch anymore for any number of reasons. So glad to see she decided to gift her stash to you. One of these days I'll be doing the same thing, gifting away my old stitching supplies (but not quite yet). What a wonderful surprise.
ReplyDeleteMy lovely benefactor has turned her attentions in another direction, and I'm so grateful that she chose to send these gifts my way. I'm sure that if you decide to do the same, whoever receives your treasures will be equally grateful. It certainly was a huge, wonderful surprise for me.
