Hi, Everybody!

Hope you had a great Independence Day. Man, the crazies were out with fireworks yesterday! Lots and lots of fireworks. I sure hope all the neighborhood dogs, cats and wild animals are okay today.

Anyway, this has become a regular event at our house now. Bella has a pet lizard. No, really! It shows up every single day to visit with The Black Dog.

I'll just be lyin' around, mindin' my own business, and it starts all over again. First, Bella sees that the lizard is back on the dog gate outside the patio door. (Mom keeps it there so when it finally cools off again outside, Bella can't just run out and jump in the pool - which she always does if the gate isn't there.)

Then, she sashays up to the door, and the lizard shows her its red, wattle-thingy under its neck. BB (short for Bella Butt) is intrigued with his display.

It's like she's sayin', "What, lizard? Are you talkin' to me?"

"Tag! Come and check this out!"

"Yeah. Yeah. It's a stoopid lizard. He's here every stinkin' day, Bella. Give it a rest, for Pete's sake!"

It always ends the same way. She settles down next to the door, and they have a standoff until the lizard finds somethin' else to do...or someone offers Bella a treat. I have to shake my head. Good thing I've got better stuff to do, right?
