Twinkle, Twinkle...

I've been playing around with the super macro feature on my camera
and I found the perfect subjects for yesterday's photo shoot.

I have a collection of Handsome's aunt's vintage costume jewelry pins.
They're really beautiful, and these are just a few of them.
I really love the flower pin in the first picture.
The colors of the stones are soft and subtle, and goes with everything!
Aunt Eula really loved bling, and her personality was
as flamboyant as her jewelry. She was a true one-of-a-kind.
This pin is really brilliant!
I think the blues and lavenders are especially vivid.

I don't wear them as much as I'd like to, but I just
found something that will make them even more versatile.
Simply open the pin mechanism and slide this on. Then, close the pin.
Run a chain through the loop and you can wear your pin as a necklace.
Isn't this a great idea?
I found this when I was in my favorite bead shop in Sarasota.
I got a couple of extras, so if you leave a comment today,
you'll be included in a surprise drawing for one.
Tell me if you'd prefer silver-tone or gold-tone.
I'll do a drawing on Sunday to pick one lucky winner!
DRAWING CLOSED (11 pm Sunday Night) THANKS!!!

  2. Oh Donna,
What a great idea! I have never seen one of those. I have my grandmothers collection and wear them from time to time but because many of them are so big, they need to be worn on a hat, scarf or overcoat which pretty much limits the useage (for me anyways). I do wear a necklace everyday. This would be great. Thanks for the tip and sharing Eulas gems.
    Have a great weekend.
PS. Either or, I have both!

  3. The broaches from your Aunt Eula are just beautiful. And the pin converter... brilliant! What a fabulous idea. Now these pins can be turned into splashy works of art around our necks. I'm looking for this!
Your needlework is stellar! I was so enthralled by all your art!
    Such a lovely blog!

Then got to the transformer -- and got even more excited - thought I'd head over and google to find some to buy.

THEN - wha hoo read about your impromptu giveaway- YES! Actually came out of reader to come over and comment with hope to win one.

    Thanks so much. Jane

  12. Love that jewelry. I received quite a few of my grandmother's pins when she passed away. My grandmother was into bling too! And I've never seen that Pin Converter before. What a great idea!! I have so many pieces, that either silver or gold would work.

  13. Donna, I was stopping by to say how much I love your ATC cards and I wish we were closer so I could learn how to make them.....you have such a lovely touch making them. Then I saw these beautiful sparkly brooches....oh my so pretty......and now they can be a necklace. That is so cool, I think that is an awesome idea!
I was just telling my co workers yesterday about the gorgeous things you make and how you made that cover for your sewing machine.....they are all in awe of everything you do......and I wanted to share their praise with you!!!!
I also told them and showed them my little half finished project and it made me want to get to work on it!!!! You do inspire me my dear!!!
Okay, I am off to do some serious work!!!
    Have a happy weekend!

  18. What a great gadget. I have a lot of pins that I don't wear, but wear a necklace almost everyday. I would prefer the silver tone one. That was a beautiful ATC that you received.

  21. Aunt Eula and my Grandmother Bess must have shopped at the same jewelry counter! I have some very similar brooches.
I inherited a couple of diamond brooches from my mother-in-law that were created with converters on the back. I do wear them as pins or pendants. I had wondered if a jeweler could do the same with my costume pieces, but this is much more simple! Thanks for sharing!
