An "A-Team" Monday...

Monday was a very good day for me!
I finished sewing the quilt top for the Williamsburg quilt.

These colors aren't exactly what I would choose living in
Florida, but my choices were dictated by the main fabric
(above) and the musical theme of the Williamsburg Consort.

Believe me when I tell you I have enough of the main fabric to
make another quilt for the Consort next year and a music quilt
for Handsome. His will have lighter-colored fabrics to tone down
its overall appearance. But I do know that the earth tones will
be a real hit for the musicians when I take it to Virginia.
I assembled all the components as
I had envisioned them, ironing after each step.
Measure twice - Cut once.
Carefully matching all the seams and intersections...
...until I was finished. Now, I only have one step left on the front...
This is the Consort logo from last year.
I'm arranging for it to be updated to 2010, digitized, and then
Miss Ellie will embroider it into the center square of the star.

Off to the long-arm quilter and when it returns (in about 5 weeks),
I'll just have to add the binding. It will be finished in plenty of time
for Williamsburg in September.

"Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?"
(That's a quote from the A-Team, just in case you didn't already know.
A private joke between our nephews Tres and West with Handsome.)

  1. That is awesome...you are a very talented lady...I just don't have the patience to make anything that awesome (I guess I just can't get the pieces to fit together right) Maybe I should tell DH to get me a Better NEW sewing machine huh?

  2. Hello Donna~
Wow, what a pretty quilt! Sometimes it's kind of neat when we get to make things with colors and patterns that we wouldn't have chosen ourselves, kind of gives the creative mind a good stretch. It's really cute :o)
Thank you for your comments on me getting to meet a bloggy friend in person, you're spot on! The internet can be a scary place sometimes, it seems like all you hear about in the mainstream media are horrid, tragic or just plain terrifying stories. But we crafty bloggers know there's another side. There are SO MANY wonderful, talented, lovely, GOOD people I've met since I started blogging and avidly reading blogs. These ladies (yourself included!) keep me inspired daily! Not to mention the laughs and good times we get to share with one another, and sometimes the sad times too... it's all a part of the world going round & round...
Ayhoo, this comment is getting a little long (I can't ever say anything in one short sentence.) so I'll wrap up, by thanking you again for your comment and confirming for me what I suspected, blog friends ARE real friends.

  5. I know you are glad to have that behind you. When we do work for others there is always that fear factor of "What If"....I never seem to fully relax until the project is completed and on it's way. You did a beautiful job as always.

  8. Donna, Your quilt is awesome and I am so glad that you shared it with us. I could see the picture last night, but waited until this evening to comment. The sun is shining and I would be more then happy to send you some rain. We have so many small rivers going out of their banks right now. You are amazing my friend because I don't think there is anything that you can't make and do a wonderful job of it. Have a wonderful day. Your Missouri Friend.

  9. Hi Donna,

That's a quilt! I wish I had the patience to do that, but I'm a twitchy little crafter and can't sit still for long. You did an amazing job, thank you for sharing it with us.

    Hugs,
    Meri

  10. Hey Donna. Just stopping by to say hi and see what new beauty you're working on. I love this fabric and the quilt is wonderful. I know what you mean about FL, but I love those wonderful patriotic colors.

BTW - I am so over this heat wave (or better said...FL's normal summertime)and sweating. I just don't handle it like I used to.

    Hugs...Tracy :)
