Tuesdays With Tag - Starting A New Year...

Hi, Everybody!

Well, here we are startin' a new year together. I hope you had great holiday celebrations, and didn't eat too much food. Mom was careful to ration our treats so we don't pack on the pounds over the holidays.

There was a flurry of activity around here yesterday 'cuz our second son and daughter-in-law showed up with their (our girls). Both granddaughters helped Mom in the kitchen all day, and there might have been a little chucklin' at me when they saw that I was hangin' around Granddaughter #2 all the time.

She and I have always had a lot in common, so I guess she might be my favorite, although I love 'em both. Granddaughter #2 has strawberry blonde hair just like mine, and she's just a little shorter than the rest of her family so she gets me. Plus, she always gives great cuddles - and I love her cuddles.

There were presents exchanged which is always a favorite pasttime for us dogs. We even get to help open them sometimes. We aren't even gonna mention all the great food smells. Unless schnibbles accidentally landed on the floor durin' prep, we didn't see much of the people food, though. All three of us hung out under the dinin' room table, though, just in case there was a drop emergency. We're always ready to serve.

All in all it was a really great day, and we had so much fun, we didn't even think about takin' any pictures! (That's how you know it was fun.) The wind kept comin' up all day, too, so it was pretty chilly outside by dark. It was too icky to hang around in the yard when we aired out, so we got our outside jobs done quickly, and all just bundled into our favorite sleepin' spots and took a late day practice nap...includin' Mom and Dad. I can tell you that I had some pretty sweet dreams, thinking about my red-haired granddaughter. It was the best day so far this year!

This week is gonna be pretty excitin'. We're gettin' started on a pantry remodel, so today, I'm gonna supervise while Mom and Dad empty the walls and cupboards on the sink side of the room. I heard Mom say she doesn't even know where to start puttin' stuff to get it out of the way while the room under construction.

I know one thing's for sure, Carly will have lots of strangers to bark at, Bella will spend most of her days sleepin' on the bed upstairs to just stay out of the way, and I'm gonna be on the lookout for workers takin' lunch breaks. Nobody can mooch a piece of sandwich like a Corgi, and I'm more talented at it than the average pup. I'll let you know how it's goin' next week. I'm gonna run for now.

I'll see you again in seven. 'til then...

"Always make time for dog snuggles."

Happy 2024!!...

Happy New Year!!

January 1, 2023 Photographs...

The weather was beautiful yesterday, so I didn't want to miss the opportunity to take a group photo of us to celebrate the new year. I have a new setup with a remote to trigger my camera shutter, but I didn't realize that holding something in my hand would make the dogs think I was holding treats. Hence, two of three focused on my hand. sigh At least Handsome and I (and Carly!) were looking at the lens.

We were taking a break from packing Handsome and Carly's supplies for their trip to Florida, and I asked them to pose one more time for me, so I'd have a photo of the road warriors. They will likely be on the road by the time you read this.

Tag, Bella, Claudette, Crystal and I will be holding down the farmhouse in his absence, and we'll get daily reports on travel progress, followed by updates on rehearsals, concerts, and all things Florida. I laugh when we're in the truck and he complains about one slow driver on a local road or highway. Boy, will he ever have culture shock once he gets back to "tourist season" in full swing in the Sunshine State!

He's got 1500 miles of driving ahead of him over the next three days, so I'd really appreciate prayers, crossed fingers, good wishes, or however you ask for protection for my beloved husband and our silly Labrador. I'll hold my breath until I know he's safely reached his destination.

I'll be in the studio today. I have some major rearranging in mind, and it's the best way for me to pass the time while I wait. Tag will be back tomorrow and I'll see you again on Wednesday with his road report. For now, I'm off to grab my morning cuppa.

New Year’s Eve…

Neil Gaiman Quote

I got the sweetest call yesterday. Out of the blue, a long-time blog reader and shop customer contacted me just to say "hello" and tell me that she enjoyed reading my daily posts. I let the call go to voicemail (I do that when I don't recognize the number), and she left a lovely message for me, along with her phone number. Of course, I called her back.

Lydia B and I ended up chatting for nearly an hour. She was delightful, and I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent sharing stories and learning about each other. We have a lot in common. It was the most wonderful way to end 2021.

Lydia, dear, I don't think you know just how much I enjoyed talking with you. Thank you so much for taking the time to call and leave a message so I could call you back!

One of the things I shared with her is the fact that I've been contemplating my "Word" for 2022. I'll share that with you tomorrow...in the new year. Can you even believe how quickly the last twelve months passed? Let's chat more about 2022 in my next post, shall we?

We're staying home (Handsome is feeling 100% better, thank you!), and we'll have a nice evening together to welcome the new year. If you're going out, drive carefully and stay safe. I'll see you next year. heehee

New Year's Day 2019 - Sick...

Hickory Hill Farm - New Year's Eve 2019

This is the weather we left behind when we headed south. Andy sent a picture from his and Shelly's vantage point overlooking our property. It snowed lots right after we drove out to head south.

Web Image - The Beach

This is more like the weather we have in southwest Florida, but I didn't get to see any of it today. That stinkin' cold I thought I fought off last month, reappeared with a vengeance. I spent the day in bed.

Handsome is a great nurse, making sure I have plenty of water, juice, meds and a dog or two to keep me company. Bella was more attentive than Tag. He only hangs around when I'm sick, if I have food. Boo snuggles up next to me, strategically placing a paw across my leg, so I know she's here.

I'm hoping for a better day tomorrow. Maybe I'll at least put out a lawn chair and get some sun on my bones for a little Vitamin D therapy. Either that, or just shoot me. Yep. That's how crummy I feel. It's definitely not how I planned to usher in the new year!

Amost There...

Brynwood Needleworks - We're Road Warriors

We took this selfie before leaving the driveway at the farm. We're on our last leg of the trip now, and will be at our Florida destination this afternoon.

Tag and Bella are such good dogs when we travel, although I'm sure sure he'll have a different perspective when Tag posts tomorrow! Bella is in heat, so stopping at rest areas and our hotels makes for an interesting experience, too. (She's wearing diapers, and Handsome said if we posted any pictures of her in "dipes", he'd come looking for me - and not in a good way. lol So, we resist, although she's cute as a bug in her red pants!)

The weather gets warmer the further south we go, and leaving 19Âş in Wisconsin, we're looking forward to the 80Âş days forecast for the next week! No more sweatshirts, and we'll be glad to be off the road, too. We're loving the idea of another Florida New Year's celebration spent with friends.

Happy New Year's Eve!

Balance...

Brynwood Needleworks via tinybuddha.com

I think this shall be my word for 2017.
"Balance"

I spent yesterday putting away the contents of my luggage, unpacking my sewing machine and studio supplies that had traveled with me to Wisconsin, and taking time to rest.

Today, I'll be going to Sarasota with Handsome to watch him play for an "early bird" New Year's Eve party, and then we'll go to a friend's home for a New Year celebration of our own. I'd say I'm off to a good start.

If you have a pet, please keep them in a safe and quiet spot during the fireworks. So many furry loved ones are frightened by the sound of them. Safe is better than stressed. I hope all of you have a great night.

Happy New Year's Eve
