This and That...

Moonrise
I got a lot accomplished yesterday. A little laundry, taking care of the pups (as Handsome is still having debilitating back issues), and even painted the door thresholds.

The paint had nearly worn the thresholds down to bare wood, and they looked neglected. I couldn't have that, so I took the wire brush and sanding paper to them, got down on my hands and knees, and painted them. Claudette was very curious, and decided to "help" by lying down in front of my knees while I bent over with the brush. I couldn't have done it better without her. You'll have to take my word that it's a vast improvement, as I didn't take a single photograph.

I did, however, take this photograph two nights ago as the moon was coming up over the farmhouse. I thought the moon was beautiful shining through the trees.

Cheeky Boo

I'm so happy I thought to put a clean quilt over the chaise portion of our next sectional. The girls really want to lie all over the entire piece, but we decided they'd be relegated to this single area. There's a lot of "no" being uttered right now, because they don't understand why they can't get up wherever they want (as they did before). We'll do our best to hold the line. (I'm sure they'll do their best to wear us down.)

  1. Funny how Claudette "helped" you!
She certainly is getting used to humans.
Hope Handsome gets some relief for his back.
    Enjoy your new furniture.

    1. Hi Marilyn:
She sure is! I love it, too. Thanks for the get well wishes for Handsome. He had PT today, which will hopefully help. I'm loving my new seating!

  2. So sorry that Handsome has been suffering - a bad back is certainly not something anyone needs (done that, been there too much). Glad that Claudette was so helpful when it came to painting - she must have known that Handsome couldn't help so she stepped in.
Good luck with winning the 'discussion' over couch lying rights!

    1. Hi MA:
You're so right! When the frame is off, it throws everything off. :-( Claudette was helpful (nearly to a fault). I was afraid she'd get her paws in the paint! I don't expect a win on that discussion. I'm planning warm digs for her in the barn this winter. Even so, a girl can hope.

  3. I would love to have seen Claudette helping! I’m sure it was cute. I bought 2 large fleece blankets that cover my couch. I don’t have to worry about doggie dirt and can wash them whenever. Of course, they are removed when company comes! I’ll do the same with my new furniture if it ever arrives.

    1. Hi Andrea:
You would have laughed out loud. She's adorable. I have that girly quilt on the sofa, but I do wish I could just enjoy the upholstery we ordered. sigh I'll likely add more quilts soon...and likewise, remove it when we have company.

  4. Oh those back pain issues are the worst. Healing Energy for Handsome. Claudette was a huge help I am certain. I am surprised she didn’t lay right on the painted threshold. Your wonderful fur-children will try their best to wear you down…errr…stay on the quilt. This Hunter Moon is super bright and gorgeous.

    1. Hi Sherry:
I agree. He's really been suffering. Thanks for the good wishes. Claudette's a hoot. I really was afraid she'd flop down where I was working. These dogs are relentless. I'm going to have to cover the whole sofa, I'm sure.
The moon is beautiful, for sure.
      Be well, dear.
