Sunday was a great day to celebrate this four year old's Birthday. She was ready and excited for all the attention and hoopla. The theme was ladybugs, and she even had them on her dress!
I asked her to smile for me, and this is the smile her great-aunty captured. Her hair was about six inches longer a few days earlier, but she asked her mama to cut it shorter. I think it looks just perfect!
Now, about this cake. Her daddy loves DQ ice cream cakes, so he went to the one right up the road and ordered this red, white and black one to mimic ladybugs. There was only one problem...
Black icing. Everyone who ate it got black teeth, tongues and lips. It was actually quite funny to see younger kids with it all over their faces, but the adults didn't escape either. Even my 91 year old stepdad had it on his lips, and some of the kids were covered in it. As I'm not a fan of chocolate ice cream (the main flavor inside the cake), I took a hard pass.
After opening and hugging each of her gifts, she was off and running again with all the other kids. All I managed to capture of her with her kitty purse was a blurry image of her opening, smiling and hugging it. I'll ask her mama to take a photo when she actually uses it, so I have it for my album, but that means I don't have one to share with you. Suffice it to say, she loved it.
I'm working today and then coming home to the big and little girls. Handsome made his way to Florida on a direct flight yesterday, so I'm sure he's enjoying the weather and time with his friends. Rehearsals begin today for him. I'm hoping I get a recording or two when he plays, so I can enjoy it along with all his southern fans.
Lots planned for this week as we begin the last week of January (already). I'll share more with you tomorrow.
Lady bugs...how adorable! (What was that term for a group...a loveliness?) Oh, those deeply colored icings 🙄 they seem to have "staying power"...ugh. I'm still waiting for pics of my grands in their grammie jammies from Christmas... there is always so much to do when you are a youngster...as well as young at heart... 😉
ReplyDeleteHi Lois:
DeleteYes! A loveliness! Perfect for these adorable, little bugs (and my niece). I never ended up making my jammies at Christmas this year, but I'll get a head start on them for next year! I did purchase some for them, but haven't seen photos of them wearing them either. Now that our grands are late teens/early twenties, they're always busy. It's hard to pin them down for visits anymore. sigh Young at heart here, for sure!

She's so sweet! I don't think I've ever seen a ladybug themed party before but I love it.
ReplyDeleteGlad Handsome arrived safely, but I wonder - did he fly into snow? By all reports here it sounds as though Florida is getting it so hopefully he's not in that area.
Hi MA:
DeleteI hadn't seen a ladybug themed party either, but it sure was cute. Handsome flew to southwest Florida (Sarasota area on the Gulf side). It's considered sub-tropical, so although it's in the 50s and 60s (F) this week, there's no snow. Most of the flurries were in the panhandle (near the northern border) and a bit south. I think he'll be safe from it. Thanks for asking, dear.

Sherry of createology: Handsome arriving safely in Florida is a relief. He will enjoy his music and friends. Wynter is a typical energized kid. Too bad she didn’t pose with her kitty purse. The black frosting is a hoot! It would be good for Halloween. Enjoy your week dear.
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry:
DeleteI agree. I asked him to keep me updated as he traveled. I got a text just before takeoff from Wisconsin, and then he called me shortly after landing. I was much relieved. We spoke last evening and he's already had two rehearsals with more today. He's jumped right back into his old routine and he's loving it. Makes me very happy. I'll ask Wynter's mama to get a photo of her with it soon. I have to tell you, seeing that black frosting cracked me up. I shared better photos on FB which I think you can see if you look through my weekend posts. They all looked like little zombies with their black teeth and lips. Halloween would be perfect! lol Hoping you have a wonderful week, too, hon.

She's too cute in her Ladybug dress.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she loved the purse.
