Tuesdays With Tag - Yummy For My Tummy...

Brynwood Needleworks - Brynwood's Taggart - January 2017

Hi, Everybody!

This week is off to a great start. I helped Mom in the kitchen yesterday.

Brynwood Needleworks - Sweet Potato Inspector Tag

At Christmastime, our granddaughter's dog, Lulu (a real sweetheart) gave Bella and me presents! (We had a few for her, too.) Each of us got a container like this, filled with dried sweet potatoes. Even though Bella and I had our own private stash of goodness, they've been gone since about...um...the week after we got 'em.

Brynwood Needleworks - Tag and Bella's Sweet Potato Treats

Mom asked our daughter-in-law how she made 'em so Mom could make more. No dehydrator needed. Just set the oven for 250ยบ; clean the outside of the sweet potatoes (you don't even have to take the skin off!); slice the spuds real thin; and put on a cookie sheet in the oven for about three hours.

That's it. Dependin' on how thin you slice, the sweet potato might be crispy or chewy. Mom didn't want them too thick because they'd still be moist enough to get moldy if they didn't get eaten right away. (No worries there.)

Brynwood Needleworks - Tag the Taste Tester

Mom asked me if I'd taste 'em to see if she did them right. 'scuse me while I give em a little chew. Nom Nom Nom

Brynwood Needleworks - Tag's Seal of Approval

Yup. They definitely get my Seal of Approval! They're lip-smackin' good! I'm really glad she bought more sweet potatoes, 'cuz I can see these are going to be a staple for the furry kids here at Brynwood! Bella's lovin' 'em, too!

Mom can make treats for us any ol' time.
Just as long as broccoli isn't involved. (hee hee)

I'll see you again in seven. 'til then...
"Chase A Dream - Or A Squirrel".

P.S. Mom said that if you cut 'em real thin and add salt while they're bakin', you'll end up with "people" sweet potato chips! No salt for dogs, though. Ours are delicious just plain!

  1. I love sweet potatoes and making chips wiith them sounds extra good. Your mom is pretty special to make these for you and Bella. What a great Christmas present you got and now it can continue all year long. Thank you Tag for the step by step eating process. I especially like the sniff test (I have always smelled my food before it goes not my mouth) and the seal of approval lip smackin. You are the Cutest Corgi ever!!!

  3. Sorry about the first comment. I had some spelling errors.
Do you do Tag's grooming? He always looks like he is ready for the show ring. I know Corgis have their " blow out shed" twice a year. Although would never know it. He has such a gorgeous coat.

  4. This is a wonderful idea Tag. Thank your Mom for letting you tell us about them. I think I will try to make some for Bits. I will probably slice mine the other way so that they would be smaller pieces. Bits still has trouble with her weight and If I let her get above 5 1/2 pounds her arthritis kicks in horribly. Have a good week!
