Fabulous Flour Sacks...

Brynwood Needleworks - Flour Sack Fabrics

I recently saw a fabulous quilt created using flour sacks, cut into quilt blocks. They were colorful and perfect for a quilt in a 1930s theme. I immediately thought about my most recent gift from a good blog friend, Marydon.

She sent a huge box of flour sack fabrics to me, to do with as I wish. I wish to make a flour sack fabric quilt.

Over the course of the next twelve months, I'm going to find time to make two, traditional block flour sack quilts from these fabrics. Aren't they wonderful?

I need to decide which block pattern(s) I'll use, but I promise to keep you posted when I start this one.

Remember, I've promised to finish those UFOs first. In fact, I'm already working on one of them. I'll show you pictures of that one tomorrow.

Wow!!! Flour sack fabric reminds me of my beloved granny Concetta...she was used to sew this kind of fabric to make things for the kitchen.

I have only read of those beautiful vintage flour sacks and to see your gift from Marydon is making me swoon. You will honor those amazing fabrics no matter which blocks you sew for your quilts. Embracing Creative Bliss...
