A Little Christmas Spirit...

Sunday was filled with music...and not much sewing.

The North Port Concert Band presented their Christmas concert in the afternoon, and it was everything a Christmas celebration should be. (Of course, I thoroughly enjoyed Handsome's musical contributions!)

How accustomed we've become to the concerts to really kick-start our festive spirit. Musical friends, the sweet sound of children singing and well-loved Christmas music bringing the holidays into focus in a climate where we can't rely on snow to signal the season's arrival.

Once we're seated in the auditorium, the twinkling lights, the glow of an artificial fireplace and sparkling attire transports us to our childhood memories of Christmases past, and for a couple of hours we forget the warm weather and palm trees right outside the doors.

I really wish you could have all been here to enjoy the music with us. I'll be back tomorrow. Today, I'll accomplish a few things from my To Do list to share with you (and I'm sure I'll be humming a carol or two while I stitch away.

  1. What a great way to celebrate. When Nellie gets here the 23rd she will be playing my Christmas C D's and that will pick up my Christmas spirit :)

  2. I know exactly what you mean about enjoying the concerts. They are such fun to be part of.I shall be joining the choir which I belong to a little later this morning for a Christmas concert. This will be the third concert I have been singing or playing in. Our last concert before Christmas will be on Thursday.

  3. Hi Donna, it sounds just lovely.
Over here ( across the pond) we have 2 televised " Carols by Candlelight" programs. One from Sydney and one from Melbourne, the latter being on Xmas Eve, and I love to watch. Of course they get thousands of people there but we are too far away to be there in person.
My Favourite Xmas Hymn/Carol is O Holy Night ( I do love The Holy City, too .-or is it called Jerusalem? we usually hear that one more around Easter time. )and although I have heard a lot of different singers, I prefer a male singer- baritone.
It is Summer here and usually hot but we are getting very cool and rainy weather and may do so for Xmas too. Me? I am quite ok with that! We have had some Xmas Days that have been scorchers!! Hugs to you and give one to Tag from me as well when you visit! Sandy. :)
