Material Girl...

I'm here to warn you. Mom just couldn't resist playing with her fabrics again. She talked herself into it with yesterday's post. It's safest for me if I just stay here in the hallway outside the studio. That way, I don't get under foot, or get any of my gor-jus fur on her material. I guess this makes it official. Mom's a "Material Girl"! (Sometimes, I just crack myself up!)

I'm not going to bother showing you the "before" photos. It's hard enough for me to hold the camera...you know, because I don't have thumbs (like my mom's friend, Mary Ellen. hee hee). Let's just say, that it was a little chaotic, since Mom had been pulling fabrics for recent projects.
Now, that's more like it! Organized by color...stacks upon stacks of cotton-y, colorful, creative-quilts-totes-unknowns-to-be! Of course, she had to tell me that, because I can only see in black and white. I'll just take Mom's word for it.
...and close up, it even makes ME want to drool!
There's even a second cabinet with bolts for backings, and quantities of fabric that she just adored. I wonder if she has any Milk Bones stashed in there? I'm getting a little peckish after writing yet another post for Mom today! She's enjoying her holiday weekend with Dad, so she's let me be a blogger for the last couple of days.

I have no idea what she has planned for tomorrow. Maybe I'll see you again...maybe I'll get back to my regular routine...eat, drink water, sleep...and go outside. Either way, I'll see you again soon. Have a great holiday weekend. Smooches from the pooch.

  9. Hi Kes and Donna,
What a beautifully organized closet!! All the fabrics neatly stacked by color....it's art in and of itself.
Donna, our oak tree in the backyard is dropping acorns by the dozen. Last year I promised you some Kansas City acorns and the tree wasn't cooperating. Would you still like some acorns from Missouri?? If you do just e-mail your address and I'll send them your way.
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

  11. Your mom did a wonderful job of organizing, and does amazing things with needle and thread. However, you take the doggie treat with your writing and photography skills! Thanks for sharing with us today. Wish I could give you a little scratch between the ears.

  12. Kes,
Just what is your Mother's secret to keeping such a neat organized fabric storage spot? Are those all fat quarters? If not how are they folded so neat. Now don't be like Duke on the Bush's Baked Beans commercial. We need the scoop on how to be neat and organized and still create masterpieces.

  15. Kes you are quite the writer and I love your posts. Maybe Mom would make you something out of the fabrics...something soft and plush. Loving the organization of colors and types. Happy creating...

  17. Kes, your mom needs to share with her blog friends. (Hint, hint.)
I sure wouldn't want to mess up those perfectly organized shelves so the only way to do that would be to just go and buy more fabric.

  21. donna, your sweet baby (the one that did this post) reminds me so much of my dear studio dog, Ben.

it was bittersweet seeing a picture of your baby lying like that - like ben used to.

and your organized fabrics made me drool!

  22. Just minding my own business, catching up on my favorite blog posts, and you TOTALLY got me. I actually think I spit some of my salad onto the keyboard. There was the reference to my thumblessness. You will be happy to know (perhaps) that there is now a support group established for those of us suffering from this. Plus, texting is nearly impossible! THANKS FOR THE LAFF
