Today, I'd like to introduce you to a new blog friend. Taylor is the daughter of Lori Ellis of Rasberries and Rose Petals...and I think you'll agree, Lori has raised a delightful young woman. Her new blog is Lady Lemondrop's Sunroom. Taylor has agreed to write her own introduction for me, so without further delay...
Hi! My name is Taylor. I have been a crafter since about 3 years of age, thanks to my mom. She always had little crafts for me and my sister to work on at home. I am a big fan of animals and nature, I love to draw and paint, and I have recently taken an interest in knitting. I am also a big movie fanatic. I will watch any movie except horror movies. My favorite actress of all time is Audrey Hepburn. I have most of her movies and books because I am just an "Audrey freak" like that. I decided to make a blog because I wanted to interact with people on the internet in a different way than Facebook.
My biggest interest is knitting. I didn't exactly grow up around people who knit or anything. I started knitting because I wanted to make hats and scarves for the Warm The Children program that a couple ladies at my church were a part of. And now, I have become completely addicted. I absolutely love knitting! Hats are my favorite, mostly because they are quick and usually pretty easy and self-explanatory. I am trying to broaden my knitting horizons, trying to knit more advanced things like shawls or gloves. Sometimes it is very difficult, but I actually find it almost therapeutic. If I am ever stressed out about something, I can sit down and knit and I feel better after a while. I have probably about 5 or 6 projects in-the-make right now. I like having a lot going at once because if one makes me mad, I can just put it down and grab another!
I also really like art, though not necessarily all parts of it. My favorite area of art is painting. I have taken art classes all through my school years and even had a private art class outside of school. I also like drawing, but painting is definitely my thing. There is just something about being able to do all sorts of different things on a picture, whether it's using a thicker brush or using a TON of paint. I like to experiment with it. I have recently taken interest in silhouette pictures. I was never really good at drawing people's faces, so I decided to try their profiles only. I was so happy with how it turned out that I made it into a silhouette (because I don't like drawing eyes and noses and mouths). I really only use acrylic paints, but I am going to try to use oil paints or watercolor. That should be fun.
I am all into Shabby Chic. I love all things shabby, white, and pink. Most of the crafts I do are a kind of amateur shabby-ness. I am not quite a pro, but I guess I can only go up from here. Quite honestly, I think I also get my love of all things shabby from my mom. I like to keep my crafts very colorful. My favorite color is PINK and I use it quite often in most of my projects. Pink and Green! I am really only just starting now with making crafts as decorations. I used to do a lot of scrap booking, but now I can't find any pictures to use for it. Maybe someday I will get back to it!
So that's pretty much me right now. There are a few things yet to come, though! Beginning in October, I will be taking a cake decorating class. I am super excited because I have always been thrilled with all the different kinds of cakes and such. It will be quite an adventure for me. I also hope to find a lot of inspiration from blogging to help me expand my creative side! I love to try new things! I hope that being in the blogging realm can help me (and I'm pretty sure it will!). So, there it is! Hope you learned a little about me from these few paragraphs. I would love to hear from you, too!
See you around!
Taylor
