Promises Fulfilled...

Thanks to Kes and her requirement to "visit the outdoors" at
regular intervals throughout the day, I caught the start of a
magnificent, annual flower show here at Brynwood.

We planted a magnolia tree in our front yard about five
years ago, and since it came to live with us, it has thrived.
In a few short years, it has nearly doubled in height,
and the flowers are the size of dinner plates!

Yesterday, I captured the first blossom of the year to share
with you...along with one of the unopened buds.
Our tree is full of these buds, so it will offer
its ongoing gifts over the next few weeks.

Spring is a series of promises fulfilled.
Nature's gifts of new life.
Fragrances that bring to mind years gone by.
Be it blossoms or babies, it's
God's proof that life goes on.

I hope that today, you find your own promise fulfilled.

  1. Hi my friend, I could actually read your post tonight before I go to bed. I have a magnolia tree that we have raised and they are so pretty. Your trip sounds like a lot of fun. We are leaving on Thursday for a long weekend just to get away from everything. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother's Day. Your Missouri Friend.

  2. You captured the flower in all its glory. So white in color with its strong thick petals. They are such grand trees, you will have many years of spectacular blooms. And you cant beat the fragrance.

We have 2 very mature very tall trees on the property in the front yard, one on each side of the property at the street. I grew to hate them when we first moved here due the leaves that fall in spring and in the Fall. Seems the lawn guy hates them as well, having to rake and bag them... But when those trees are in flower, its natures perfume wafting all over the property so I have grown to love them. I have loads of tiny buds, I cant wait for my trees to flower in the next few weeks.

  6. Such a beautiful flower image! My mom gave me a magnolia a couple of years ago, and this is the first year it has really bloomed. I could be found by it at least once a day enjoying the flowers. I am so excited to have found your blog. Sewing and textiles are my first love, although I am attempting to "spread my wings" some and explore other mediums.

    Have a wonderful weekend!
