A Prayer In Every Stitch...

Today, I will begin making the christening gown
for my great nephew, Liam...
the newest baby of our family.

As I said in a previous post, I planned ahead for this
special project, by purchasing extra fabric when I created
his mother's wedding gown in 2008.
This way, mama's gown can stay intact to be worn by a future bride.

In addition to using this meaningful surplus fabric, my
plan is to recreate the design features from the wedding gown
as I stitch love and faith into their heirloom christening gown.

A prayer in every stitch.
And so it begins...

P.S. The Charlotte Stone Crabs won their game last night. (11-8) We had a ball! (no pun intended) The perfect end to a wonderful Date Day!

  2. I made a christening gown for my first granddaughter from my wedding dress. Not nearly as elegant as your designs and sewing, but a treasure to us still.
Truly, "children are an heritage of the Lord"! And what a blessed heirloom your nephew's christening gown will be for generations to come!
    Be Blessed!

  3. Hi Donna, You do such beautiful work no matter what you are doing. I am trying to catch up on reading my favorites tonight before I call it a day. I am glad you had a fun date day. If you have any extra sunshine, will you please send it my way. I am so tire of the rain.
I will be anxiously awaiting for pictures of the christening gown. You have a wonderful weekend. Your Missouri Friend

  5. This is the most precious idea. I've not heard of the baby's gown coming from the mommas wedding dress, but it's just so appropriate. Glad you bought extra, what a wonderful woman you are Donna, to "do" and give to so many.
    hugs and blessings,
