Project Inspiration...

We've been home only three days,
and we're sure missing these sweet faces!

Today, I want to share one of my past projects with you.
I've done the photos as a mosaic to take up less space here,
but you can click on the photo collage to go to my Flickr album for larger images.

Handsome, Kes and I had taken a car trip spanning about 5,000 miles.
We started from home, and headed to the Natchez Trace Parkway (a place we'd been wanting to visit), as we made our way toward our kids and a summer vacation in Wisconsin. After a nice long visit, we took a ferry boat ride across Lake Michigan and then drove to Hiannis, MA for a ferry boat ride to Nantucket, MA to spend some quality time with Handsome's brother. After a week in Nantucket, we got back on the boat to "go back to America", and then drove the East Coast back into Florida and home. It was a great trip, to be sure.

This project involved a pictorial record of our trip for our grandson, who was then five years old. My goal was to create a visual record of where we went and the route we traveled as a teaching tool for him. I've captioned the individual images in the Flickr album so you can see how I created the cards.

Apparently, this project was quite a hit with Grandson, because not only did a five-year old boy not destroy this gift, he still has it in original condition over three years later! Nothing like a child to inspire a creative project. (Wait, don't they always inspire creativity? Yup, I thought so!)

  1. That is just wonderful that your grandson has such an appreciation for family and family treasures. Which is exactly what your project was, a treasure.

    Those grandbabbies are beautiful!
I'm loving the hair on the little doll in the middle, looks like Pippi Longstocking!

    Love ya!

  3. Your creativity realy has no borders!

I like making creative projects with my son and hopefully my daughter will soon be big enough to join us.
But the most fun they have is with their grandparents, who have even more time to spend with them (and more interesting materials in their attic...)

LOVE that you keep pictures in a journal/scrapbook. So many are just keeping them on their computer and you have actual photos you can pass down to those grandkids.
Thanks for stopping by and for your nice comments.

  7. NOTHING better than GRANDS! I know that trip was so special. I want to visit so many of the places you mentioned. I assume you have an RV & that is how you traveled? Hubby & I are starting to look for an RV because we LOVE to travel & want to be gone long enough to really SEE things & not just hop by. Last year we did central coast of California & for 10 days, flights, car rental, B&B's, 3 meals a day.... BIG BUCKS! I think a trip like yours would be HEAVEN here on earth. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend. Charlene

  8. Today I get to read the post with the darling three faces that I could see yesterday. They are so precious and I know you enjoy every minute spent with them. We enjoy every minute we get to spend with our three grandsons. They grow up so fast. My oldest is almost as tall as I am. He loves telling me that he has just about caught me. I love the pictures. Thank you so much for sharing.

  9. Your picture is priceless and isn't it wonderful to know how much Grandchildren appreciate the things we do.
Your trip sounds better than any cruise I have had people tell me they went on.

  10. I do believe those sweet faces could inspire lots of inspiration. In fact, the wee one with the piggy tales needs some fairy wings! To darn adorable!
