When we lived in Wisconsin, our winters passed with season's tickets to the Milwaukee Symphony. It was a monthly ritual we looked forward to with great anticipation. After every concert, we usually headed to Mama Mia's on Greenfield Avenue for manicotti and fry bread...a decadent dinner, perfect for discussing the concerts.
Last night, Handsome and I again made our way to downtown Milwaukee, where we were treated to delightful performances of Beethoven's Sixth Symphony (also called "The Pastorale") and Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major. For nearly two hours, the music and musicians (featuring a solo performance by violinist, Vadim Repin) carried us away. You can click here for a Milwaukee Journal review of the performance.
When we were filled with the music, we made our way to Mama Mia's, where we had our fill of our favorite Italian food. It was, beyond a doubt, a perfect evening in wintry Wisconsin.
What a lovely evening, Donna. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves. Come back to Florida soon.

Hi! I'm back...
ReplyDeleteI just checked out your dog pictures; they're beautiful, all of them.
I grew up with Springer Spaniels, but always liked Labs. They are so sweet-faced. Golden Retrievers are wonderful, too.
I hope you're not freezing anything off up there. My family came from the Duluth/Superior area. You guys know the meaning of 'cold'!

It sounds very perfect!
ReplyDeleteBeethoven is the favourite composer of Classic FM's Simon Bates. Every morning he plays some Beethoven and very often announces it with the words 'here's some self-indulgence'! xx
Donna,
ReplyDeleteThis does sound like our wonderful evening. Glad you are having a good time "up north".
Jane
sounds like the perfect evening together!
ReplyDeleteAw Donna what a prefect evening. I can just see you and Handsome sitting there together enjoying the Symphony..we have one close to us built by James Dick and when I can I volunteer for his performances.

ReplyDeleteHi Donna Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful evening. Music with your DH and the symphony. Does it get any better than that?
Then ofcourse off to dinner for manicotti? Oh be still my little heart. I must have been Italian in a previous life because I sure do love pasta and all Italian foods.
Fry bread too? What a great evening Donna.
I know you and DH had a wonderful time on the tow together. It is so nice to still be able to share a few quiet moments now and then together. Love this post sweetie.
Thanks for sharing. Country hugs...Sherry
I really enjoy all kinds of music including the classics. It sound like you had a wonderful night out and really enjoying your visit. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful evening you had, that's so awesome. I'd love to come visit out there sometime, as I seem to have a few relatives out there. Even my mom was from there, so I'd like to see just for that reason alone. Take care.
Hugs,
Meri
Sounds like pure heaven!
