Knitting On The Road...

We spent Friday afternoon with my mum. The weather was as perfect as it could be for March in Wisconsin. It was sunny and a balmy 38º. It was so nice to spend the time with her and catch up on her life. (That's her little dog, Charlie, who is a constant source of joy for her.)

She's been knitting, and was so excited anticipating our visit that she purled most of a row she should have knit (but not all of it, mind you). This good daughter fixed her mistakes as we sat and shared a few laughs. Whenever I ask what she's knitting, she always replies, "I don't know. I'm just knitting!"

Don't you love a journey of faith? Where you can simply start on the road and take whatever it hands you? That's how it is with my mum. It's one of her most endearing qualities.

I started knitting a new design last night. You're going to love the yarn I'm using, and believe it or not, I'm back to knitting with beads again (already!). I'll show you photos in the next day or so, when there's a little more progress.

I'm giggling, just knowing that some of you have seen the thumbnail of this post already. Well, I had to see how it looked before it posted for real! lol

  1. Seeing the picture of your Mom made me smile..I used to knit (38 years ago) and I crochet now once in a while but just granny square afghans...I can always set them aside when I get tired of them and work on them when I am riding or visiting someone.
Glad to hear you had a nice visit in WI..It is a very pretty state and I still miss it a lot

  3. Donna,

I have been knitting and crocheting! Haven't touched the sewing machine in weeks. I made a scarf out of the yarn that you made the cowl out of except in black and have signed for sock classes at A Good Yarn!

  4. What a lovely photo of your dear beautiful Mom and her special companion!

I so enjoyed the story of your visit, the shared experience of mutual love to be matched by no other...Mother and Daughter...how blessed!

I often find myself on a journey of faith...I'll turn to look where I've been, where I am and think where am I going? Then I stop myself and know there is a purpose for this journey...there is a lesson to be learned...or a person who I need in my life or perhaps they need me in their's...ahh the journey of faith...

  6. Donna, your mother is just lovely and I have to say how much you two look alike! Love her little companion. I sometimes think I would knit more if I was just knitting - with no goal in mind. Maybe the goal is just a little zen meditation?

  11. Donna, it is so nice to see your mum again. I had been wondering about her. She is just one of the most beautiful ladies and it's easy to see you took after her. I had to laugh that she just knits to be knitting because there have been times that I just start knitting because it is so relaxing. Her dog Charlie is adorable too! I loved seeing him in the picture. Have a great day! Twyla
