Primitivie Gatherings Wool Kits

Weather changes had my hands revolting last weekend. No needlework. No listing on the computer (or even my phone). No breadmaking. I spent most of the weekend taking ibuprofen and rubbing my hands. Basal joint arthritis stinks. Period. It hurts like the blazes one day (or three), and disappears for months with no recurrences. This was a flare weekend. This too shall pass.

In the meantime, I took a few photographs of wool kits I'll be offering for sale. These are Primitive Gatherings kits that I know I won't be stitching, so I'm not going to keep them in drawers when I can send them off to new homes.

These are only four of the kits I'll be offering. There are more. They're complete with all the wools (and patterns) needed to make the pieces shown on the patterns. I'm going to offer them here for my blog friends first.

Now, one thing to know is that some of these kits came in my Wool Boxes, and aren't available for sale on PG's website yet. They were exclusive for Wool Box subscribers for at least a few months before they're made available to the general public.

A Penny Gathering Update...

Brynwood Needleworks - My Version - Primitive Gatherings "A Penny Gathering" Small Blocks

 

I thought you'd like to see my finished small blocks for the Primitive Gatherings quilt I've been working on. These are for "A Penny Gathering"...with all the wooly bits done correctly now. I haven't trimmed them down from 6" square to their final 5-1/2" square, but I'll do that soon.

As you can see from the photo on the pattern, I'll be working on the 10-1/2" square block that will go in the center of this layout next. They don't show up very well, but after that I'll be creating a lot of 1/2" half square triangles for two small borders, and then the outside border with the vines.

I still have a little way to go, but I'm having lots of fun working on it! I'll be sure to share more photographs when I get to the next section.

I managed to finish setting up the rest of my "Everlasting" quilt blocks yesterday. I'm actually lucky to have finished all the blocks, considering that I had a bit of an accident in the process. I'll spare you the gory details (photos are on my personal FB page if you're interested), but long story short, I punctured myself in the thigh with my very, very sharp Karen Kay Buckley scissors, and bled a lot!

Once I got that all under control, I forged ahead on this project, and can now crow that they'll all be ready to sit down and stitch when the spirit moves me.

By the time Handsome called from Macon, GA last night, I could tell him all the blocks were done, and I avoided a trip to the emergency room.

 

Back to the quilt blocks...You can see by comparing the pattern image with my actual blocks how I adjusted them to make them personal. I'm really going to have fun doing the embroideries!

I also have the finishing kit when I get to that stage. This is how the quilt looks from Lisa Bongean's pattern. Isn't it lovely? I'm motivated to work on this one first!

Now I'm setting up my blocks from the Wool Boxes from Primitive Gatherings. There are twenty four in all, so I have a little way to go. I have six finished so far.

You'll notice from looking at the pattern next to each of my blocks that I've changed the two buildings above, so they resemble our farmhouse (on the top left), and our Compass Barn (on the top right). I'll add the porch rail to the farmhouse when I do the embroidery. I'll also add the wagon wheels and compass to the barn when I embroider that block. (I'll probably add two black Labradors and a wee Corgi in front of the barn, too.)

You can see from looking at these two blocks, that a lot of the details will be embroidered. I'm looking forward to starting these, but I'm going to finish setting up the other twenty first. That's what I'll be doing again today. 

 

It's so cold outside that even the dogs aren't asking to go out, so I can get a lot accomplished during the day. I begin by feeding Tag and Bella. I go outside to put birdseed into the feeders for all the little birds trying to stay warm. Lastly, I head to the Compass Barn where mama cat is currently residing with her two kids. I make sure they've got food and water, and I moved the crate - filled with straw - over on top of my southern workbench (there's a window there). The sun's been out, and when I check on them during the day, they're lolling around on top of the crate in the sunshine. I'm doing my best to keep them warm, and it seems to be working. Then, I have my morning coffee...and smile.
