August Classmate Gathering...

(l-r: Back Row: Cal, Deb B., Karen S., me, Bruce. Front Row: Brad, Deb O., John and Mary)

I woke up yesterday morning on a mission. I had orders for cinnamon rolls to be delivered to classmates when we got together for early dinner yesterday. I frosted the last batch twenty minutes before I had to leave to meet up with them.

In the end, I'd made five pans of four rolls, and another with only two rolls in it (those were for Handsome and me). I sold four and took the last one up the hill to Andy and Shelly on my way home.

As always, I made sure to get a photo of the group before we parted ways, and we set the date for our September dinner. I always post the photo in our class group on Facebook, so next month we may have more people able to attend. It's always a great time, and there are always hugs before we go our separate ways.

I'll debut that finished strawberry tomorrow. I know you're anxious to see it done. It seems to have taken forever this time. I guess it's my short attention span these days. Oh, Look!! A squirrel!..... lol

Staging, Knitting and Dinner With Our Kids...

All work and no play... You know the saying. Living room carpet was cleaned during the day, I had a little time to work on a project and then dinner last night with our sons, their wives and our grandchildren. My trip is complete having seen all of them. Too little time to spend, but I'm glad we could steal away for a family meal before I head home to Handsome on Saturday.

I've also been working on a doll coat and beret. I'm knitting it in a yarn called "Chinchilla" from Berroco. Nearly finished with the coat. I need to get a chibi needle to assemble the parts before I can add the front plackets and collar. I'll show it to you again when it's finished.

Tomorrow I'll be sharing final house photos from this week. I can tell you now that it's really looking nice and we're proud of the work that has been accomplished while I've been here. Now, to get the listings and sales flyers put together as soon as I get back home. Fingers crossed for a quick sale.

They're Called "Shoreline"...

I got a very belated birthday gift last week. I mean over a year belated. It's ok. Stuff happens. People forget. Things get in the way.

On Wednesday last week, when we got together with my brother-by-choice, Anthony and his son (our nephew) Julian, he delivered a gift that Sister Goldenhair had purchased for me over a year ago. I couldn't wait to get the box back to my mum's house and tear the wrappings apart to see what they looked like.

Inside was a service for six - dinner plates, bread and butter plates, bowls and mugs of a lovely, beachy set called "Shoreline". It has a neutral creamy gray main color, and is adorned with sea shells around the rims of each of the pieces (I know, you can see in the photo, right?) They'll be just perfect in our Florida home.

After I unwrapped the paper protecting each piece, I painstakingly rewrapped each one in bubble wrap. I knew that we wouldn't have enough room in our vehicle to hand-carry them home to Florida, so I wanted to make sure they would ship safely via UPS while we drove. I then took all the wrapped pieces to the shipper on Friday and, just as we're on our way home, so are they.

Opening the box will be like Christmas and Birthday all over again. (Yup...my birthdays are major occasions, so they're capitalized!) I'll unwrap them, wash them and then put them in our cabinets awaiting our first dinner at home. I'm really looking forward to using them.
