Farmhouse Herbs...

I harvested these beautiful herbs on Thursday and they're bundled and drying in the pantry now. The whole kitchen smells of lavender, sage, rosemary, and thyme. (I know. You're humming another song again, aren't you?)

We awoke to a glorious, steady rain yesterday morning. We really needed it, so there were no complaints. Another few days wouldn't be unwelcomed, either.

I'm not sure what I'll do today. We stayed up until after 1 am, watching the Brewers stellar closer, Josh Hader give up the game in the final inning with a grand slam by the Giants. We were ahead for a good portion of the game, so his job was to protect our win for the final half of the inning. It all fell apart. He fell apart.

It was so frustrating to see him struggling. He was so disgusted at the end of the game that he left the field and headed straight to the locker room. It won't be a fun trip home from San Francisco for him, for sure.

Have you figured out that I'm a die-hard baseball (Milwaukee Brewers) fan? I love the art and finesse of the game. It's so much fun to watch...except for last night. Ugh

So, I may just stay close to home and relax today. It's not like I don't have things to occupy myself without leaving the farmhouse or grounds. I'm going to grab a cup of coffee and mull over my options. It's the weekend! I hope you enjoy it, too.

Silver Lining...

Brynwood Needleworks - Primitive Gatherings Wool Box #5

Handsome had an appointment with his eye doctor yesterday, so I had a chance to spend my time in the waiting room working online.

It was raining again, so I didn't work in the pole barn when we got back home. Instead, I took some of the minis from the latest Primitive Gatherings' Wool Box, and set them up for stitching. The Milwaukee Brewers were playing their Wild Card game last night, so I knew I could stitch during the game.

I can't show you all the fabulous projects in this box until after we get word that everyone has received theirs. There are nearly one thousand boxes currently being delivered to the participants, in all parts of the globe, so I must be patient. This is seriously the best box so far!

Brynwood Needleworks - Box 5 - Four Completed Minis

I can share the four minis I completed last night with you...but only the backs. Sorry to be such a tease. These are really cute, and I promise to show the fronts just as soon as I'm allowed. I really don't want to spoil the excitement for those who haven't received theirs yet.

The Brewers were in the lead all the way up to the eighth inning. The Nationals gained the lead in the bottom of the eighth, and three outs later, they were celebrating their win. Handsome and I - along with all the Brewers fans and players - were disappointed. Our season was awesome, but now it's over. We'll all be back in the spring to cheer them on again, hope that maybe next year...

It Was A Wonderful Day...

Brynwood Needleworks - New Primitive Gatherings Summer Fabric Line

Yesterday began with a cup of coffee and then a drive to Menasha for our monthly Primitive Gatherings Sit & Sew group. There were a lot of ladies this month, as members who hadn't been in a while were able to join us.

Show & Tell (or as I call it "Bring & Brag") is always interesting, because we get to see what everyone is working on - or has created - and Lisa Bongean always shares upcoming projects with us, too. This one is a pattern she designed using her summer Wisconsin Shop Hop fabrics. You'll be seeing more of these soon, as I will be designing some bags/accessories using some of them.

Brynwood Needleworks - Lisa Bongean Showing Us New Summer Blocks of the Week

Decisions. Decisions. Lisa showed us one of the summer Blocks of the Week programs that will be available in two or three colorways. I have to decide whether or not I'm going to do this one, and if so, which colorway. They're all gorgeous!

Brynwood Needleworks - Lisa Bongean Showing Finished Moon Garden Quilt

We also got to see the finished Moon Garden quilt from one of the last Block of the Month programs. We all agreed the colors were really wonderful in this one, and many of the ladies who didn't get into this program, I'm sure, are planning to purchase this one after the fact.

Brynwood Needleworks - Grandson, Handsome and #1 Son

After lunch, I had to drive the hour back home a little earlier than usual. Handsome and I went to all Milwaukee Brewers ballgame in Miller Park. I only took a few photos, preferring to enjoy the game by keeping my phone in my (Event) bag instead. The guys are all just being silly in this picture, but I love it.

I'm going to work on a little project that will be a quick finish, so I'll show you that soon. We've got a meeting first thing this morning with a contractor. I can't wait to tell you about an upcoming big project here at the farmhouse. More on that later. I know. I'm a tease.

Work, Then Play...

Family Time At A Milwaukee Brewers Game

This is actually how our day ended yesterday...with a trip to Milwaukee with our elder son and his family. We went to the beautiful stadium that is home to the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team, and boy, did we have great seats!

You'll notice our little photobomber behind Handsome. We had a group of nurses from the local VA hospital sitting in the row in front of us. We actually earned this because we'd done the same to their pictures earlier in the game. They hooted when they saw their pictures with Handsome and the "boys" in it, so turnabout was fair play. We weren't the only ones either. We saw many others taking pictures only to have someone behind them pop into the frame at the last minute...all in good, clean fun.

The Brewers were playing the Cleveland Indians, and our team prevailed 3-1. It was a great game with some really incredible plays. I'm sure we'll do it again over the course of the summer.

Pincushions For A Client

I had an order waiting to be fulfilled, as I was busy with the quilt show last weekend. I sat down on Monday to make one pincushion, and then did the other yesterday. They're now on their way to a new home, so I could really have fun at the game without worrying about an obligation at home.

"Work before play", and that's just how the day went.
I got this job accomplished inside, and Handsome and Andy worked together outside.
(Thank you for all your help, Andy. There are things we really couldn't do without you!)
