I went with a friend to my favorite kind of mall...an antique mall! We spent the better part of a morning peeking in nooks and crannies, picking up this and that, and finding a few choice items to purchase.
I love tins. Especially those with a British theme. I found this Boston Harbour Tea canister with a hinged lid and just know that it will serve a useful purpose in the studio. I'm quite sure that it's not old, but I don't think it has to be - especially if the price is right.
I found this pretty little girl and couldn't put her down. I have something special planned for her, but can't tell you just now what that is. I wouldn't want to spoil a surprise, you know.
I concluded my purchases with the very first thing that caught my eye as I walked into the first booth. If you read my "Steampunk Bird" post, you're going to know exactly what I have in mind for this little set of old binoculars. Now, all I need is a little wooden bird...or perhaps I should make a Steampunk Squirrel (or Corgi!). Oh, no! I can see another "expedition" is in my future.
Oh, the little kitty is darling! Antique malls are the best! I don't even like new stuff, he, he. Haven't been to our 'mall' mall in years! Your tin is lovely, so glad you found it! Have a fun day! Twyla
ReplyDeleteLooks like the two of you had a splendid time!! I especially like the tin!! I remember loving to go through antique malls!! I am now on the other end, trying to have less before it is time to move again!! But who knows when that will be!! :-) Kris
ReplyDeleteOh wow I love anything old and vintage! You would have to use a crane to pry me out of that store! I can hardly wait to see what you have planned, it is going to drive me crazy waiting...:)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday weekend Donna (hugs to Tag)!

Great finds, Donna. You have an excellent eye.
ReplyDeleteCool finds! I've never been to an antique shop. I don't think Miami has any of those. :/

ReplyDeleteI deleted my previous comment as I made a typo and couldn't fix it. :(
ReplyDeleteYou have some great finds there, Donna! Lovely kitty!
I collect tea canisters, and Arnott's biscuit tins. Some are quite old. Oldest would be my tea canister which has the British and Australian flags on it as well as a picture of Princess Elizabeth, and Prince Phillip, may have been put out before her coronation, so must be around 60 years old. It was gifted to me by my late friend a few years ago. It is a treasure to me. :)
What fun finds. :) Antique malls are definitely fun to visit. :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous finds...I see the kitty and the binoculars being altered but the tin...storing something fun in your studio just as it is. Safe Labor Holiday weekend...
