After inspecting the wedding ring quilt, I decided against it. However, I'm so glad to be the new owner of the beautiful applique' quilt I shared a couple days ago. I can now show you the newly cleaned and lovely design. 

The quilt measures approximately 87" x 100", and features meandering vines with leaves and tulips. Each leaf is about 4" long.

All the motifs are impeccably stitched, and the leaves are accented with additional embroidery. The quilting is done by hand, as well.

After washing and drying the quilt, I noticed mustard-colored thread in one corner of the binding. Upon closer inspection, I was elated!

Jane embroidered the year into her quilt! Not only that, but it's my birth year! I guess I was meant to be the new owner. I sure feel fortunate that it's now mine.

The last feature I noticed was a lovely, soft yellow strip on the top of the quilt, also featuring leaves. 

 

I love everything about this quilt. It's soft, lovely, and so beautifully crafted by our friend's mom - a woman I also knew. Jane's legacy of lovely quilts will live on in the homes of many people who purchased them this past week...including me.

Brynwood Needleworks - BW Zipper Pull Hardware

 

My zipper hardware arrived yesterday, and I am so excited about how lovely the engraving turned out. These "piles" are just a sampling of what I received, and I'm going to be able to make quite a few wallets, handbags, and more using them.

I also ordered engraved key fob hardware, so of course, I had to create something new with them. I can't wait to make more - coordinating with my bags and wallets, and as stand-alone items in my shop.

 

I think I'll be in the studio today. The weather is cooler, the dogs are keeping me company, and I need to make something using my new hardware! What a great way to start the weekend. Happy Friday, everybody! 

I'm So Excited!...

Brynwood Needleworks - New Hardware

I just got proofs of my new hardware - already on its way back to my studio! These are just samples of everything I sent away for engraving. Aren't they wonderful?

 

I'll be waiting until everything arrives to start assembly of the products I'll be making for the show on November 22nd. I'm already cutting fabrics for my projects. Once these arrive, I'll be working like a house a-fire to get everything made. I just had to share with you now, because I'm so darn excited about them.

Daisies & Dragonfly...

Brynwood Needleworks - Strawberry Sachet "Dairies & Dragonfly"

 

I completed another Strawberry Sachet yesterday. This one is called "Daisies & Dragonfly", and it's already claimed. 

 

Embroidered with silk ribbon daisies, I also used perle cotton, metallic thread, and cotton floss. It's my first effort on one like this, and it is a one-of-a-kind. 

I'm making one more, with forget-me-nots. Another flower from my younger days. Needle dancing. The very best pursuit on a steamy, hot day. Perhaps it will be finished, so I can share it with you.

The Elves Will Be Busy...

I've made my "official" (kinda/sorta) list of projects to be finished in time for Christmas shipping and gift giving. These are the projects that will ship to special places across the country, into the homes of loved ones...sons and daughters-in-love, grandchildren, parents, nieces and nephews and a few others. My goal is to have everything completed as close as possible to December 15th so that I can relax the rest of the Christmas season.

So, my friends, I'm sharing this list with you:

1. Four beaded scarves in sumptuous and decadent yarns
   
2. Three sets of Christmas Eve pajamas (an annual tradition for our grandchildren)
3. One Ladies Tote with lots of pockets and compartments
4. One Kitchen Ensemble (Sorry I can't give you more detail here. Can't give too much away.)
   
5. A Set of Handcrafted Ornaments
6. One Lap Quilt
7. Custom Gift Bags in pretty fabrics
8. One Embroidered Pillow
9. Four Apple Photo Books (all the same - another annual tradition)
10. Two Hat and Mitten Sets sewn in cozy warm polar fleece
    

So, now I'll be accountable to you. (Do you think I can do it?) I'll post photos of my projects as I finish them so you can keep me honest. Any good wishes you can send my way (you know, "You can do it, Dee!") will be greatly appreciated as I try to stay on schedule.

One scarf (the pretty pink beaded one I posted the day after Thanksgiving) was finished last night. One down...four to go! I'm telling you - this year, the elves will be busy!
